I have a question--I just stared spotting with a dark brown discharge, and I'm on birth control and I missed two days with one not-missed day in between, is that why? I did have unprotected sex on Monday, but he pulled out. I guess I'm just asking if this is normal for birth control? (I'm also about a week from when my period's due?)
Breakthrough bleeding is very common in the first few months of starting birth control. I've been on birth control for over a year now, but I've ever had spotting, so I can't give a personal experience.

What I do know though, is that considering you've had unprotected sex, though you shouldn't have because you missed two days, you should probably be cautious about a possible pregnancy. Spotting can be an early sign of pregnancy as it is implantation bleeding.

Don't get yourself in a panic about it, it could be either or, most commonly the former. If you're nervous, try a test but I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't stress about it.

    My period is crazy...
Ever since I got on birth control it's been heavy and unrelentless.

I first got my period when I was 9, and it was always regular and stuff, and now it's all effed up.

^ Birth control done nothing to lighten my period, but it did regulate it perfectly. Maybe you should try a different type/brand if you're having problems?

My period usually consists of three days of heavier flow an then one or two days of spotting. This means it should've been gone by Monday or Tuesday, but it's Thursday now and I'm still spotting. Just curious, could exercise cause this?

Everyone goes through puberty at different rates so don't fret about it too much. Some started their period quite early in age and some started quite late. I actually started puberty very young and grew boobies and had my first period in 4th grade. Shifty

I do think you ought to consult your doctor if you haven't gotten your first period by the time around your late teens however.

Man, I haven't gotten my period in 5 months. This is the longest I've gone.
I got my period when I was 9, and it's always been irregular. I did talk to a doctor about that, and he said it was normal for it to skip around.
Here I am, almost 20, and I've been period-less for 5 months. I'm not pregnant for sure, I don't have sex, still a virgin, and is not on any birth control pills. I am over weight and has an anxiety disorder. So maybe that is a factor to why I haven't been getting my period.
I also know that my grandma had a hysterectomy at 40, my mom has problems and went into early menopause, and my aunt has major issues down there as well.
I figure maybe by the end of June, if I don't get it, I'm going to an OBGYN, because this isn't normal and I'm paranoid about what's happening.

Go to a doctor immediately and tell them what's happening. (I mean, this week. Not "run to ER now.") My friend had a very irregular period and experienced weight gain and some other symptoms - when she finally got doctors to take her seriously, uh, I won't panic bore you with the details but it was very serious and the period issues were the first sign. Maybe nothing is wrong but you are correct, that doesn't sound normal, and if there is a serious underlying cause it is definitely better to find it now. And it could potentially make a big difference in treating said underlying cause. (Which could be nothing. Bodies are pretty weird.)

Well, that freaked me out lmfao
I called my doctor's office and finally got a normal doctor. She specializes in OBGYN stuff, so I'm seeing her Monday. I'm scared to see what's wrong. But I'd rather have it get taken care of instead of just prolonging going in. It could be just a hormone imbalance or something, but I'd rather not risk anything by waiting any longer.

Hah, well, good! I hope it goes alright. You should never be scared of results, results are just things that you can work with - information - and information is the only way you can improve/win in a situation. Smile

I'm on pill and I only have my period every 3-4 months, but I tend to go back on the Pill three days after it starts 'cause I hate it so much. I go off 'oh, I bled? not pregnant, cool, back on Pill'.

Since I'm on the pill my periods are really well regulated, it's nice knowing exactly when you'll get it, it's like clockwork, and nice and light. tehe I still get cramps but it's not every month now.

I've been on the minipill for nearly a year now, and for the past few months my periods have gotten lighter and lighter. They're nearly non-existent. Does anyone know if that's normal?

Okay, so a few days ago, I posted on here about how I haven't had my period in 5 months. Today I went to an OBGYN. She asked me about my family history and my symptoms I had now. She didn't do a pap smear because she said since I'm not sexually active she didn't exactly see a point. She said based on how I was talking it sounds like I may have PCOS or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I did a blood test and I go back to her on Friday to look at my results and to set up some birth control to regulate my period. She also said that someone will call to schedule an appointment with me to do an ultrasound just to make sure that I do have PCOS and not something else.

What I would like to know is, does anyone here have or know anyone who has Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? If so could you just explain to me more what it is and how it affects you, personally? The doctor did explain that it's basically small cysts in your ovaries but that was about it today. She didn't explain it more in depth because I was running late for the appointment Facepalm

My grandma told me that she used to go, like, six months without a period. She had to get The Pill to regulate her periods. You may want to talk to your mom, grandma, sister, or other female adult that you trust to get their opinion on this subject. Especially if you're heavy. (My mom got me on The Pill because I was so heavy. Like, I'd filled up an extra-strength pad in an hour heavy. 0.0)

My advice is seek adult help before making any rash decisions.

I might mess up some of you all's frustration because I have a very happy period. It's light, minimal cramps other than a slight stomach ache or lower back for one day, and it's 4 days, tops. I barely notice my periods when they come. I bloat but not a lot and I don't get that bitchy mood either. I do get a slight pain in my vagina, but that's only when I'm sitting with my legs open and it doesn't hurt that much. Other than that, all is good.

But one time recently I was really stressed for a while so my period stopped for like three months straight. When it came, it was heavier, but it still was only for 4 days.

Got put on birth control pills. Just started them today. Hopefully by mid-July, I will have a period.
It's funny how most girls hate having a period, and I want one lmfao
