Breakthrough bleeding is very common in the first few months of starting birth control. I've been on birth control for over a year now, but I've ever had spotting, so I can't give a personal experience.

- I have a question--I just stared spotting with a dark brown discharge, and I'm on birth control and I missed two days with one not-missed day in between, is that why? I did have unprotected sex on Monday, but he pulled out. I guess I'm just asking if this is normal for birth control? (I'm also about a week from when my period's due?)
What I do know though, is that considering you've had unprotected sex, though you shouldn't have because you missed two days, you should probably be cautious about a possible pregnancy. Spotting can be an early sign of pregnancy as it is implantation bleeding.
Don't get yourself in a panic about it, it could be either or, most commonly the former. If you're nervous, try a test but I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't stress about it.
