I learnt that the story of Adam and Eve isn't true....
    Creating a person from a man's rib isn't that convenient (:
And few people bother enough to ask themselves why someone would do such a thing. Even fewer bother to look for the answer.
Ignorance is easier to live with.

    Define ''true''.

I don't live in ignorance, au contraire... (: But feel free to enlighten me (:

I believe that when people believe there's an afterlife, it's more a wish than anything. People want to believe there's something better so death doesn't seem so scary. Which is why no one should really try to prove someone's religion wrong. If it's their way to deal with their life, then so be it.

My religion preaches a heaven full of beer volcanoes and stripper factories (no this isn't my personal heaven! Although....) but I'm not sure I believe that.
If there were a heaven and hell it would be a state of mind, not a place. If it was a place you'd get bored with having everything you want. Being in a state of happiness where time and everything around you just means nothing is what I believe heaven to be. The eternal thing would just seem so hellish otherwise.

I think that when you die, you're dead. I don't think there is a heaven or a hell.

    True: real; genuine; authentic.

It's a figurative part of the bible.
I don't see how I live in ignorance...

I don't really know what to believe. I believe there is afterlife. I believe there is Heaven and Hell. I also believe in reincarnations. But idea of reincarnations kinda contradicts the idea of Heaven and Hell.

    I believe in Heaven.
    Not too sure about Hell.
I know the Bible says Hell is an actual place. But I think hell is just eternity without God. Like Heaven is eternity with God.
I'm not sure exactly what I believe, and no-one is ever going to know (at least until they die).
    But yeah. That's what I believe :)

I don't think we are alive.

I don't think this world is real.

This is a construct of someone's imagination or of an alternative universe.

Although my friend believes we are all in a coma and when we "die" we wake up in the real world.

Just because believing is easy does make what you're believing true though.

My religious studies teacher told me that Heaven and Hell were made up by the Christian church. Something along the lines of that if there was a place to go if you were good then there had to be a place to go if you had sinned, so they created Hell.
I'm not sure if that's true or not.

But there were concepts of heaven and hell way before Christianity.

Isn't the whole Heaven thing a part of the Jewish faith as well as Christian?

Don't quote me on that but I just sorta assumed everything in the Old Testament was Jewish and the New Testament Christian?

Well, look at Greek and Roman mythology. Pluto/Hades was guardian of the underworld, and "heaven" could be viewed to be Elysium. Ancient Hinduism taught about different planes of heaven and hell. Ancient Egyptians placed great importance on their afterlife.

And The doctor is right, there was concepts of an afterlife called the Sheol in Judaism.

    Yes. I can describe it.

    Dead. =P

I've very recently found God... and I'm not sure what to think of Heaven and Hell.

But it's one of those myseteries of life to me. What makes a human, or any animal really, alive? There isn't much difference between a person 2 seconds before they die and 2 seconds after. Their internal organs aren't functioning right and they cease to be alive. So what made them alive in the first place?

I belive they have a soul that inhabits their body [kind of like the souls in The Host] until they die.

It seems like such a waste if there's no place for these souls to go.

So, I think there might be a Heaven and a Hell or their might be reincarnation... I think it's all possible. And I don't need to know. Not in this lifetime. I'll find out when I die... and I'm content to wait for answers.

I don't think hell is this pit of anguish and fire. But, then...I don't neccesarily believe in heaven either. After I finished reading the book 'Odd Thomas' it got me thinking on the afterlife. And I believe we all go to the same place after we die or some of us just get stuck as being ghosts.

Sadly, I've been terribly mixed up about whether or not souls even exist lately. I wanna believe we go somewhere but I'm the type of person who likes to have logical evidence.
Still, hell kinda seems like a really farmiliar place right now...

In Judaisim for one. Also, pagan religions dating back millenia have an underworld, and Scandinavian traditions have Valhalla for the brave and a frozen underworld where women and cowards are sent.

Even in ancient Egypt, reading the Book of the Dead would enable a virtuous man to pass into a kind of Heaven, while a liar or someone who had not been attentive to religion would be fed to a monster.

Of course you can't properly imagine something you've never experienced. It would be like trying to imagine what it was like before you were born, or trying to picture, say, the ocean if you had never seen it.

Just because you can't visualise something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
