^ The whole not-thinking, not-existing thing really freaks me out. Like, it's so hard to imagine nothingness.

Also, I've heard that a lot of humans can't comprehend 'eternal life' because we revolve so much around time that it's too hard for us to be able to.

^ Of course it's hard. Given the finite capacity of the human mind, it's probably impossible. Imagination is a projection based on human experience, assumptions of human experience, and our limited senses.

But then, for most of us, there isn't much point in trying to imagine absolute non-being, as we will never come close to having our imaginings confirmed.

I think everyone goes to their own heaven. It's like being in a dream and getting everything you ever wanted.
For some people, that might back-fire and what they think is right could turn out to be something terrible and hell like.
It's an odd way of thinking... I hate thinking that once we're dead, that's it. We're no longer existing things. It's scary...

I really do think Heaven and Hell exist.
I believe that we are being judged somewhere.
so we better be good, or at least try.

Where do you think they are?
    Do you think they're real?
What do you have to do to get there?
hmm, i was all "easy," when i read this but it isn't, is it?
well, i do believe in heaven and hell first of all, and this is because of the stories i'd be told when i was a kid and believed in fairies..
i think heaven and hell are where a lot of people think it is, above the skies, below our feet ;)
and i think, at this age my opinion on what it take to go to hell is:

-you kind of have to be a negative person at heart. not 'this will never happen' negative but 'f*ck' negative. as long as doing ungrateful things.

    heaven:

-total opposite of what it takes to go to hell.

and for some reason i always have to say this, because shit tends to happen other wise. PEEPS, THIS IS MY OPINION.

I base my beliefs on gut instincts, you know, 'things I know in my heart to be true'. It's faith, I guess.

I don't believe in heaven, just hell. But it's not like fire and brimstone and all, it's just like Earth only a little bit more sucky. But it's very peaceful and it's a nice place to be, and in a lot of ways better than earth. I think everyone goes there. Satanists, Christians, Muslims. Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Joey Ramone, my grandfather.

I think that when you die, you're dead. I don't think there is a heaven or a hell.
So what happens to your consciousness?

    Can you describe not-thinking, not-existing?
    Can you imagine the void?
It'd be like getting knocked unconcious. Forever. Or you just come right back as a baby.

I don't think we are alive.

I don't think this world is real.

This is a construct of someone's imagination or of an alternative universe.

Although my friend believes we are all in a coma and when we "die" we wake up in the real world.
0.o creepy, but an interesting concept. Now I'm all paraniod

Well, I won't get in on all the side conversations, cuz I'm a little intimidated and I'm not sure I could keep my opinion straight if someone were to argue with me, so I'll just stick to answering the original questions.

    1. Yes, I believe in Heaven and Hell. The ones from the Bible.
    2. Heaven is where God is. Well, since there is this belief that 'God is everywhere,' I suppose it would be better to say I believe that Heaven is where God's throne is.
Hell...it where Satan is. I know somewhere in the Bible it says something about it being beneath Earth, but that could easily be a mistranslation of the Hebrew, so I don't have an exact location.
    2. Why? On one hand, it's what I've always been taught. On the other, if you believe the Bible is true (as I do), then you kind of have to, no? The entire thing is true, and so what it says about Heaven and Hell is true.
Also, I believe that one day this world WILL end. It will perish. Simple as that. But that doesn't explain where all of us go. There has to be SOMEWHERE. God doesn't waste His time. He didn't make us just to blow us to smithereens and say 'Oh well, guess I better make a new toy.' That's not what we are to Him. He wanted us from the very beginning, so He created a place for us to be with Him. Then, when Adam and Eve sinned, He was forced to create Hell because He knew there would always be some who wouldn't want him back.

Now, as to what you have to do to get there.
Heaven: it's simple. I already said I fully believe the Bible, so you probably know what's coming. Accept Christ. Live for Him. That second part is a hell of a lot harder than it sounds.
Hell: Reject God. Do everything in your power to blatantly defy him.

Once again, this is my opinion. Sorry if I offended you with it, but I'm not changing it for you.

I don't want to believe there is Heaven and Hell to be honest. :shifty
The Hell I have been told about, is the one where you burn eternally, and the Heaven I have been told about, is the one where you go up to the 'Kingdom of God' and stay there eternally in happiness.
I honestly, don't think there is though. I think, well, you just die and then we get re-incarnated into another human being or animal or insect.

That is interesting, but it's sort of like The Matrix.

Edit: I'm just back from school and me and my friend got onto this topic.
She said, "What if we're already dead, and this is just an alternate universe, and everyone else is just an illusion?"

    Was quite scary. :shifty

Me and one of my friends got to talking one day, and her theory was that us, the world, humans, whatever, is just part of a dream of a person, and when they wake up, we'll be gone, and then when the person dreaming that person wakes up, they'll be gone, too, like a big circle.
It's kinda odd. Like ying and yang. Without one, the other can't be.

I don't KNOW for sure, and there's a large chance my beliefs may change in the future. But I believe that there is nothing after death, after life, whatever. You're just...gone. I don't believe we have a soul. I believe we have emotions and feelings and hormones and impulses, yeah. I've never been a big believer- never believed in God, True love, soul mates, heaven, hell, etc... I just think we're here on this rock by utter chance and this is the way we are here and now. I don't have all the answers and i'm sure not going to go off trying to find them, it's not the person I am. hey, if someone finds the answers, share them with me.

but tbh ultimately I'm not looking to cement my next life. I'm too busy trying to live this one.

Some philosopher proposed that theory. The name passes me currently though.

I'm an Atheist, and I don't believe in the concept of a heaven or a hell. To me it just doesn't seem possible. I know it sounds incredibly boring, but I feel that when we die, that's it. There's nothing more. Our time is over and our bodies decompose (unless, of course, you were cremated :shifty )

^^Sorry to intrude. I don't believe in souls. We are just genetically programmed by DNA etc in my opinion. No core essence for the afterlife. I don't believe in the afterlife either. We're dead and that's it.
