Keep calm, act natural, don't try and be someone your not and sometimes chewing gum before you go in helps with anxiety.

Dress nicely, act like you want the job. Show that you're really interested in it. Make a good first impression. Smile, and stuff.

I get anxiety too, but not focusing on it helps me.

Be polite, no matter how rude the interviewer may be. Sometimes they do that to test you. I know that's what my dad does when he interviews new employees. He wants to make sure that he doesn't hire negative people. Be friendly, try not to be shy, and just forget the fact that the job lies in the hands of fate or whatever. Just be yourself.

Don't chew gum while you're being interviewed. No candy, anything like that.

Dress professionally - or just a little bit better then they suggested.
Where are you interviewing? Different type of employers use different interview techniques.
If its just a Department store/Fast food something like that - Just be polite, honest (not too honest) and be yourself - no point in pretending to be somebody your not.

If its more of a Professional interview for an office job etc... Google Behavioural Interviews - Companies love them these days, and really put people off if you havent read and understand what the answers require. (3 part answers, how gheeeyy)

and SMILE, not like you have something to hide - but that your just glad to have the chance to interview with them - Remember, regardless of the job, that company is the best company and you WANT to work for that company - they loooove hearing that.

    Don't giggle, unless somethings funny.
I got told off at work for giggling when I was nervous, so just act calm. Take a bottle of water in with you. :cute:

Okay so I am going for a job interview tomorrow morning, I already past the phone interview and they head office guy said I am doing really well but it is a different chick that is doing the interview.

It's for Sanity- a chain CD/DVD store in Australia.

Oh My God! My brother works in Sanity! I'd ask him what his interview was like but he's not here right now. :/ I think though you should just show them that you are interested in the job, they like someone who is interested in Music and Movies as well, and also that your happy to help people and you get along well with others. That's all I can remember. I'll ask my brother more when he gets home though.

^ I agree. Do a bit of research to know a bit more before going in.
Try not to seem lost for words but always be yourself because they want to know the person who would be working for them for them long term.
    Good luck!Clap

    I'm so jealous. :finger:

I went for a job at the same store as Emma (Sanity) but I didn't get the job 'cause I was too young. It was pretty cool being picked for a job interview though.

Tips - don't overdo it on how great you are when talking about yourself.

I was the youngest out of a bunch of 20 or so people who got interviewed for Village Cinemas. I was 15 and everyone else was 20-25ish.
It was really cool that I got picked for the group interview, but they did big group activities and I bombed it, because although I can do one on one interviews well, i had no idea what to do.

People who go to uni and already have had mini-careers are rather intimidating too.

Dress nicely = Dress pants or nice pants. A blouse or a polo shirt. Dress shoes or clean/nice shoes. Present yourself well, so they know you're a clean person who actually likes to impress people.

    ____

Oh Yeah, I'm an example of something not to do: :shifty Don't tell them you're joining the Navy and just looking for something to make extra money for a few months, while you're working to lose weight. :cheese: I did that and lost a job opportunity last November. :lmfao
