I used to have a Hairless named Hayden. He was so sweet and gentle, never bit and always cam to the cage when he heard me walking into my room. Actually, he even used to climb up on his cage bars and pee on my floor to keep his cage clean. He was an adult when I got him, but for the year I had him he was precious.

Now I have a new rat I got a week ago, and his name is Sebastian. He's a big boy, and he's very social, but gets nervous around kids. The dog's afraid of him, and it's almost hilarious to watch ad she's mortified when Sebastian crawls on her.

I have three pet rats, 1 fancy, 2 dumbo. All female. They're a lot more hyper than male rats I've had in the past. Most of the time around here I can only find females offered as pets. Probably 'cause of the trouble associated with trying to tell them apart young and oops, a male got in with the batch of females.

My ratties are very sweet girls though. They love to come out of the cage and roam around the house a bit, crawl all over me, or try to go up the ankles of my jeans. They're silly but I love them. They're great pets for people who live in flats where larger animals (cats and dogs) aren't allowed or require high fees for them, like where I live.

I absolutely love rats! <3 My family had two named Frank and Donnie until we had to give them away. (We would get evicted out if our apartment complex if we didn't.) I also babysat my English teachers rats over spring break. They were two girls named Brownie and Pluto.

I used to have two mice or rats (I could be confusing the two species) called Pinky and the Brain and they actually sort of resembled the two said characters. I adored them as a little girl. tehe

My people! Hi, I love my rats, and I've been a rat owner for six years tomorrow! I currently have nine, though the most I've had at one time was 32 (my roommate accidentally put one of my males in the female cage and I had 14 babies, it was chaos!)

My current babies are Bitty, a 2 1/2 year old agouti self female who was found in a paper bag stuffed in a trashcan outside of my friend's work when she was barely four weeks old. Itty Bitty Polly Pocket is her full name, because until my friend became allergic and gave her to me, she rode around with her everywhere in her pocket!

Tub will be 2 on March 1st, though I'm not sure how much longer I'll have her for ); She's a gorgeous golden beige cap, and a total cry child! She has a mammary tumor growing in her armpit and what is likely an abscessed tooth (her mother died of the same thing almost two months ago, and I'm still paying those vet bills). For as long as I have her left, though, she's getting pampered like the little drama queen she is<3

Blaze is a 1 1/2 year old black velvet wedge blazed dumbo berkshire, and I love her so much. She's my biggest rat, and isn't afraid to throw her weight around! She's the one who had that crazy litter of 14 I mentioned earlier, and she's such a mommy. She's a little more independent, but still loves cuddles.

Harley is my most outgoing rat. She's the same age as Blaze, I actually got them together. I'm not really sure what she is, I've never seen a rat like her, but my closest guess is a blue striped dumbo with an extreme wedge blaze that covers her whole face. But who knows? Like I said, she's my friendliest rat, and actively plays with my chihuahua! The two of them love to steal each other's toys and play chase, it's adorable! She also loves going out in public with me, and when she gets tired, she runs down my arm and takes a nap in my purse!

Badger is my youngest female, and Blaze's daughter. She's a lightning blazed agouti berkshire, though her blaze curls around the side of her face like a 'Z' and goes over her eye, it's adorable! She was born September 12th and is the only one I kept from her oops litter. She's so little and cute, and very outgoing!

Rouge is my patriarch of the males, and a complete and utter squish! I rescued him from the pet store after they slammed his tail in a door and he lost about an inch and a half, poor baby! And while he was recovering with them he picked up a nasty lice infection, though he's all better now! I got to take him home March 14th, it's hard to believe he's been with me that long! He's about a year old, and a gorgeous boy, I'm not sure quite what his color is, it's a pretty pale red-brown shade. He's a mismarked dumbo hood, and a big snuggler!

Collie is Rouge and Harley's first son, and I fell in love with him the moment he was born. He's a collared black mismarked lightning blazed hooded dumbo, and his markings literally look like a collie! He'll be a year old in May, and I'm planning on potentially breeding him to Badger in a few months when she's grown.

Tinytoes, or Tiny, is Collie's brother. He's a standard black hooded dumbo with a star, and I hadn't planned on keeping him, but he stole my heart. At around two weeks old, something got wrapped around one of his left toes, and despite several vet visits he lost the toe, though he doesn't let it bother him! Like his mommy, he's a total people rat, though unlike her, my dog terrifies him. Everyone likes to call him Peter Pettigrew, for obvious reasons!

Cross is my youngest rat at only three months old, and a total terror! He was barely five weeks old when I rescued him from a very unexpected oops litter that the owner was inequipped to care for, and right off the bat he started causing trouble! Day two he escaped his cage and made a nest for himself in my couch. Despite numerous attempts to catch him (and a few successful ones) he always managed to escape, how I'm not sure! Honestly, I should have called him Houdini! After almost two months I finally caught him, and now he's happily socializing with the big boys, who adore him. He's super shy and difficult to handle as a result of his escapades, but we'll get there! Cross is named for the cross-shaped blaze on his face, and he's a lightning blazed russian blue capped dumbo velvet.

I've had a lot of great rats over the years, and several wonderful heart rats. I wish more people out there would understand what great pets they make, you know?
