To be quite frank, I think LeVeyan Satanism is dumb. It's just some 15 year old, pissed off rebel hellion's wet dream. Stupidity and Conformity is a sin? SWEET!

It's a shame that not sinning is conforming, and therefore completely makes Leveyan Satanism a waste of time because it contradicts itself. To be in this religion, you have to break the rules which make the religion. That would make the religion fall apart, but it doesn't because people are too dumb to question the logic. [No offense]

Save your money and just be an Atheist with a bad attitude.

^ Woo! Atheists with bad attitudes!
    Mad in the blood.:
Don't you have to pay to be a member of their church? Kinda seems like a waste of money to me, especially when it's not really a religion, it's just a set of morals. (Sorry if I seem rude--I don't like religions that demand money from followers.)
Yeah, I mean, to call yourself truly a religion you have to have the "holy beings" or some explanations for natural occurances don't you?

I wouldn't call this a cult (smart cult :XD) but....

    --

My friend Will claims he's Satanist. I'm like, "Will, you're not even Athiest. You have a Bible in your locker."

I've been through a ton of articles on Satanism and talkd to a lot of Satanists and all I have to say is that LaVeyans kinda get on my nerves. Well, just from my experience anyway.

Why do they get on your nerves?

    -

I've heard LaVeyen Satanists be described as faux Satanists because they don't actually worship any devil. I'm not saying this is true, but it seems to me that LaVeyen Satanists have some kind of stigma attached to them.

I've been onto the Church of Satan web page and read about it, and I must say that a lot of the things the church spouts I actually agree with - but actually joining a church seems silly to me.

*shrugs* They just kinda tend to look down on me most of the time. Mostly 'cause I'm Luciferian and they seem to REALLY not like that.

Ehhh...I'll check the religion out later. I'm of Christian faith. All of my friends keep saying, "OH DON'T LOOK AT THAT STUFF! You'll go into it and be a devil worshiper!" First of all, I love God enough not to be easily swayed. The whole idea does kind of freak me out though. I had a really scary dream that a demon came to me and told me Satan always wins and will take over me but I prayed and felt better. Wow I'm getting way of track. Sorry.

I'm not saying this religion or other forms of satanism are bad. It's just not me. I completely respect that they have different views. I've never heard a LaVeyans. My mom will probably get weirded out if she see's me on the website though. XP oh well. Reading about cults and different religions is interesting.

    Miss Ann Thrope:
Instead of making a huge OP of every fact of Satanism, I will ask the views and opinions of others who know enough about Satanism to discuss. If you really want to learn everything, visit the website: www.churchofsatan.com

So, thoughts? Opinions? Is there another thread of this which I have not uncovered in the half-hour search?

Oh, also, Satanism is nothing like Wicca or Paganism. Those are completely different.
Clap If I ever met you I'd hug you! Hardly anyone bothers to know that there is a difference. I don't plan on commiting myself to satanism, basically because I don't believe in such a thing (I'm commiting myself to something along the wiccan/pagan line.)

I find it interesting though. Well, in truth I find all faiths absolutely facsinating and like to read up on them. Thanks!

 This time I actually went and checked the site out. It's definately interesting. Far more logical then I would have thought it to be.

:lmfao According to my classmates views of me and the principles described on the site. I must be satanic.

 Wow, that might be insulting to some, and I apologize for it. I was kind of poking fun at the ignorance of most people, including myself.

Pointless. It's barely a religion but an excuse to behave how they please - rude and whatever.

I just do not see the point in this at all.

They believe that 'Satan' is really just the darker side of a person that everybody has inside. That's why they ..well, pretty much worship themselves.

It's more of a personal philosophy than a religion.
A philosophy which I find objectionable, but that's just me.

non Devil-worshping eh. What you mean is Spiritual satanism, "man is his own god". The morals are strong, but people tend to put to much into it because there minds are riddled in a cage of things. it's important to be open minded.
Spiritual satanism, or old age paganism,of that spirituality whatever you want to label it, predates christianity or catholicism.
also on a side note, when has satanism ever had roots in America, It originated over seas ages past, and flourished through europe before tyrants of the cross (family of christ and it's decendants and controlled masses) swept the lands and killed everyone who didnt convert to catholicism/christiany or thought differently.

Anyways..I disagree with catholicism/christianity,because it's simply demoralizing, hazardous to the human soul, and the most voilent atrocity that has came into human society.

I just laugh when people think this is a christian nation. This country was built on Free masonic, luciferian principles. and is suppose to be the melting pot of all race of man alike. Not suprising to me that most of america now is either athiest or satanic because it is most true to yourself and the world around you, it's not anything evil. I feel the outlook on christianity/catholicism , or even the christianized version of paganism which is wicca, is soo looked down upon, it warms me in such a way. cause "some" are starting to think for themselves and ask questions, instead of kneeling and kissing the feet of an image that's been painted white.

This doesn't really make sense to me -- I think mainly because everything I got out of it was that you're supposed to worship yourself but there is a church. So you sit around and are led in pray to worship yourself? I need to do a bit more research on this because so far, all the skimming I've done, it's seems to just be an "official/religious" way to be disrespectful.

Also, just to be politically correct, shouldn't be called "Leyan Luciferist" or something with Lucifer as they define it as "pride, liberty, and individualism" which is Lucifer's story not Satan, he's the angel of evil, deceit, etc.

Please note that I'm looking at this from an Pagan/Jew/ex-Christian's perspective. So the majority of my Lucifer and Satan information comes from the Torah as that is the more recent of what I've investigated and researched.

LaVeyan Satanism is one of several distinct religions identifying itself as Satanic. Followers are atheists who stress dependence on the self rather than reliance on any outside power. It encourages individualism, hedonism, materialism, ego, personal initiative, self-worth and self-determinism.

    And you're right we don't pray. LeVeyan Satanists do not believe in the deity satan. Anyone actually worshiping chanting or praying to satan is not LeVeyan. Hope that helped you @ Madame Stark;

I assumed they did because of the name of the website. I associate church with praying and celebration of that and what/who you worship.

    @ Madame Stark;
There are religions where that would not work however. I know UU churches are for the teaching of several faiths. I know there is a Jedi faith, which does not believe in a god.

Jedi...like Star Wars? But do you know a better/more defined website than churchofsatan.com and wikipedia? A book would even do. I found wiki to be useless and churchofsatan to be completely unhelpful, but I'm very curious about this.
