What do you guys think of him?
Why do you guys think he did what he did?
    Was it good, or bad?

What he did was horrific and wrong, undoubtedly.
He did what he did because he was mad. I'm not saying i can't understand his viewpoint- who han't wanted to make things "perfect"?

But IMO, he must have been mad to actually go through with all that.

Like sketch. said, it was awful, what he did. But in a way...I dunno. I have several Jewish friends and I couldn't imagine living without them, if Hitler had been able to go world-wide with his genocide. But sometimes I think about it. And about the genocide in ex-Yugoslavia, and in the Middle East. It's awful; all of it...

I wish we could've known the REAL, unfiltered reason behind Hitler's anger towards Jews and everyone other than the Aryans. Hell, I'm related to the man (his mother or father were reallyyyy distant relatives of my grandfather's) and no one knows why, really. It'd be interesting to go back in time and ask.

I think what he did was so wrong and disgusting.

However, he also really kind of interests me. No, I don't by any means like with the pain and suffering he put the Jews and other minority groups under, but it fascinates me, in a sick way, like all the planning and such he put behind it. Like Tragic. said, it would be neat to go back and find out the reasoning for his odd hatred.

    Hmm okay.

I wouldn't condone under any circumstance his actions - but firstly, I think he was a fascinating person, and would have been ... well, he must have been very intelligent, confident, charismatic - I refrain from using the word charming.

And secondly - although the holocaust and the second world war were horrifying ... the people who were directly affected by it have mostly left us; the ramifications of it, today, are mostly lessons we have learnt. I can't imagine so many of the things that happened in WW2 ever happening again - they shocked the world so much. So in that respect - I don't think I would say "I wish it had not happened" - which sounds horrible. I question myself, right now, saying it.
But on a fairly important level it's valid, I think.

I'm actually studying Nazi Germany in history at school. My personal belief is that Hitler was cold and despicable man, who carried out incredibly evil deeds.
There is no way that Hitlers actions can be reasoned away. I find it difficult to understand why so many people supported him.

Have you heard yet that he was in fact a friendly man? A vegetarian, a lover of animals, especially his dogs (I think he broke down crying once when one died), and good with children?
-shrug- I think he was ... I don't know. I never knew him.
Mad, I suppose, there is no way you could do what he did and maintain the other side of yourself without being mad, I think.

Well I certainly don't appreciate what he's done but I don't blame him for the war. Oh I don't think he was the devil either.
He was a product of his times. WWII had many causes and Hitler could have been stopped on time.

I think the world is starting to forget what actually started the war and we like to blame it all on Hitler.

Americans, Brits and Frenches could have stopped him. But they didn't. They smiled and gave him Austria. Conciliator-ism was a cause of the WWII as much as the Nazi regime was.

Yeah Hitler really cared of animals and children but still, his mind was more than fucked up.
We have learned in History bout Hitler since 7th grade (I finished High School last year with grade 13.. so a really long time) and actually we always got the same anwers on same topics. That's why I like to read books bout WWII and Hitler and see documentaries.

I really can't understand how these Neo-Nazis can support a man like him. MAybe they are screwed up too.

They smiled and gave him Austria.
Yet, I have to say that Austria wasn't against a re-union with Germany. When Hitler arrived in Vienna, many Citizens were cheering and supporting him. Of course they thought they gonna have a better future but still.
Austria likes to say they are also a victim of the Nazi.regime.. even though they were preperators too.

Hitler was a rather charming man, as il etait une fois. refrained from hitting on. He really, really was. The words he used and the style of speech in which he spoke in front of the Germans moved them and essentially brainwashed them. His goal was to return Germany to its height and beyond, and the people of Germany were so in love with that idea that they fell into the disasters that were brewing in the distance.

He was a very...double-sided man. As noted, he loved his dogs and was very enthusiastic; he knew how to get people moving. But at the same time, he was going mad with mental problems, druggings (I think he was being drugged, correct me if I'm wrong) and not to mention power.

Did you know that he ordered dogs be given to the Nazi soldiers in their teens? Told them to do everything with them and allow them to become their best friends? ...And then later on told them to strangle the German Shepard dogs that they had adored since they were puppies? Just to show that they were loyal to the Nazi party?

Hitler was a very confusing man...
    Sickeningly interesting, as well.

    Hitler is indeed interesting.

I think what he did was bad, but it's really intense how good of a speaker he was. In speech class, we watched a few clips of him speaking and it was so weird how he seemed to like, have the entire audience hypnotized.

Yeah that's true. His speeches always were so emotional and he was able to get the attention of the mass. I can't think of anyone (in germany/austria) who was able to do that again.

I don't condone in any way what Hitler did to all the Jews, gays and disabled people, but I do think that he thought what he was doing was good for mankind. He was totally mental in thinking something like that, but it's just the same as people being racist, really.

I don't like what he did but I don't hate him for it or think he was insane. There's no bad side in war, just different point of views. Hitler had his own oppinions and we'll never know why he did it, but I'm sure he was convinced in his own mind that he was right, and doing the right thing. It might have even been personal, maybe a Jew did something unforgivable to him or someone he cared about. There is always a reason behind something like this.

I really wish we could know, he is fascinating...maybe only because we'll never know why he did what he did.
But I am annoyed that only what he did to the Jews is talked about and not much else is mentioned, what about what he did to the homosexuals?
People can do horrific things without being horrible people, as impossible as it sounds.

He may have been very charismatic, but he was also really intelligent. Whose not to say that he was putting on an act?
