Life as We Knew It - Nothing was even close to realistic
I loved that book! I dunno, I just couldn't put it down! And I don't have very good sense of what's realistic or not, so I didn't notice anything like that.
    Guernica.:
I didn't like Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. I thought it was sorta boring. I only made it through about seventy pages before I got tired of it though. But some of my friends liked it a lot.
I loved that book. I loved the next two too.I don't think I'm judgemental enough on books...

But I didn't like Tithe by Holly Black.
Or Out Of Time by John Marsden, but the rest of his books (or the ones I've read) are really good.

I didn't like Uglies either, though I guess I didn't give it much of a chance. I read through the first ten pages, decided I hated the writing style and ditched it. I'm not very good at tolerating books.

My friends loved it though. :con:

Oh my goodness, never read Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha, by Roddy Doyle. We had to study it in class, and it has won prestigious awards and what not, but it is terrible. The way it's written is too childish to seem childlike and it skips from one thing to something totally unrelated. Nobody in the class liked it at all

Anything my Meg Cabot is just... no. There's one book by her that I didn't mind, and that's it.
I couldn't really get interested into Cirque De Freak, even though I liked Demonata series.
Little Woman annoyed the shit out of me.
13 Little Blue Envelopes was ridiculously slow.
    Uglies... I couldn't get into it. I really tried, But I couldn't.

I hated Catcher in the Rye. No one made me read it, I just checked it out of the library one day because I figured a book that famous had to be good. I read it in one day, and the entire time I was waiting for it to get good. I felt like I was listening to some 70-year-old man talk about his life.

It was upsetting. It was the first book outside of school that I didn't like.

    I hate all Hemingway's books.

I hate the way he writes, it bothers me.
It was like he put no soul into it at all.

I have no idea why he is considered such a great writer.
He was normally drunk when he wrote anyways.
He could never make it in today's publishing bussiness.

    Twilight!!
And anything else by the author of it.

Ihate despise that so-called "book" with a fucking passion!

It's stupid, the characters are all shallow bitches that all deserve to die. Bella makes me want to ram her head into a brick wall. Edward isn't sexy but stupid and annoying. The plot is nothing but a stupid cliche vampire story with a predictable ending of, "OMG Edward!!!!! I want to screw you and have your babies and become a vampire, too!!!!!!!!!!"

This "book" isn't written that well, and doesn't even deserve to be on the shelves - let alone get turned into a movie. And, let's face it, these days you don't have to write anything with a actual good storyline or actually well written for that matter.

    Other books:

Harry Potter - I don't see the hype about it. I couldn't even finish book one because it was so boring.

A Separate Peace - I was told I would love this book because [I think] it takes place at an all-boys school. It just wasn't good. I was confused a lot and it was just boring.

Ooh, harsh. It's very borderline for me...

    Fucking.

How exactly did it win an award?

Harsh? Really? To be blunt this is actually a sugary sweet thing I'm saying about this book. :tehe:

Trust me, I could go into a huge rant about it for hours (and eventually I wouldn't make sense anymore :XD)

    XD
I wouldn't read the Twilight series because I heard the vampires get sparkly and aren't bloodthirsty.
I guess I now have more testimonial why I shouldn't....
My friend attempted that series- she reads every book there's hype about- and said that it was written childishly. My other friend worships the series, and thinks she knows everything about vampires now.

Psht. I could tell her how the Hollywood vampire, and therefore Dracula, is actually influenced by the Irish Potato Famine.... but she's one of those stuck up people who just won't care.

Which is why she tells me to read the book every day, and everytime I reject it- REEALLY NICELY- she won't back down.

YES! FINALLY! SOMEBODY WHO AGREES WITH ME!
I personally found this book to be quite boring throughout the main part of it and at the end... BOOM! Drama drama drama, calm down and some really shitty cliffhanger that doesn't really have me wanting more. And each of the books kinda follows the same storyline... No offense to all you multi-millions of Twilight lovers out there!

I don't like that book also. There's no real storyline and it's just about some kid walking around for a few days. It's boring and nothing happens. =/ All he does is whine whine whine, then whine some more, then contradict himself.

I also did not particularly enjoy Tell Me What You See.
One of the reasons is this:

"Tell me what you see," she says.
    "Wait," he says.
"Tell me what you see!" she says.

    Ughh >_<
The storyline was quite interesting though, but the characters did not get developed enough. One minute whatsherface is completely head over heels about her best friend and the next, she's all over her girlfriend, then they're both head over heels over this girl and the lesbian love aspect of it doesn't even get developed.

I can understand why everyone thinks Edward is sexy, but frankly I don't think anyone really developed much as a character.

Bella makes me want to bang my head against the wall. She has like, no flaws at all. People without flaws are the most boring characters ever. Apparently she was "clumsy", but she never even hurt herself through the whole thing. It was just an excuse for Edward to carry her places. What the hell.

I only read Twilight, and apparently that's the best one (according to people I've watched on the boards) so I'm not really expecting anything better from it.

This book is okay if you want a shallow, mary-sue romance. =/

I think it was an improvement on the above-mentioned Vampire Kisses though.

And I love Harry Potter - but I agree, the first book is really boring. I started reading it when I was like, eight or something, so of course that seemed like excellent writing to me. It improves as you go on, but if you start reading it too late, it's really difficult to get past the first two books.

Okay, wait, I've got a new book that I don't like.

    C.H.E.R.U.B.S

There are some books that leave me feeling nauseous for some unknown reason. This is one of them, to be honest. I couldn't get past the first few chapters. I got it recommended to me, but I thought it was horrible.

    Great Expectations sucked ass.
If I could have read it on my own, and not forces by the school system, I think I would have liked it.
Charles Dickens is an amazing author, but my stupid teacher ruined the boon.
    :grr:

    And Lord of the Ring.
I could not get into it.
I liked The Hobit kinda sorta, but that was it.

Worst book I've ever read in my life.
The characters were completely under developed, urealistic and had no personality. The main character was so annoying and self-absorbed; I'm shocked I finished the book, I hated him so much.
He was so cocky and fake.
    This book was just awful.
    I also hated the Giver.
It was a cool idea, but it was so boring and poorly written. I hated that book.
