If you've gotten it redone, then it's been pierced through scar tissue (that's if it's in the same spot) and scar tissue can be a lot harder to heal. Did your piercer tell you not to clean it?

Well she gave me a piece of paper and a bottle of cleanser which I won't use anyway because it's alcohol based, and the paper said not to touch it at all for 36 hours, then to clean it & twist twice a day? :S

I think it's in the same spot or at least very close as it's matched up pretty well with the other side which is the original and they matched the first time. Thanks (:

I got my daith done yesterday! That brings my piercing count to ten, not that it overly matters. In terms of discomort it really wasnt that bad, but the worst obe Ive got done (out of my my lobes/double lobes, both nipples, tragus and industiral) although the pain really wasnt bad I heard my cartilage "crunch" for the first time. Not a nice sound at all.

I have six in one ear, three in the other, my nostril, septum and monroe. I had my bellybutton but I got the plague a month afterward and my body rejected it so I had to take it out. I think once I shed some of my winter layers I might get it redone or a tattoo around the area. The small scar is driving me up a wall. I want to get more in my ear but currently haven't got the money.

I do want to add to what Kurtni said in the base post though, the best metal to get when getting a piercing is Titanium or neometal (a purer form of titanium). It's softer and the same metal they use when they do surgery and whatnot, the only problem is it's more expensive than silver and most shops don't carry it, you have to request it ahead of time for them to order in. Some shops do, though, carry it because the nickel allergy is so bad.

I have two holes in my ears, but I really want to get my third hole, maybe my cartilage, maybe my nose, and definitely my belly button.

I only have my first holes done and one cartilage. I want to get 6 more cartilage piercings on my left ear so I have 8 piercings on it, and two on the other. And I really want my lip pierced but I know my parents wouldn't let me so until I am 18 I shall wait File

I've pierced my lip twice on my own, in the same spot. They closed up too fast both times. I've had my lip pierced for almost a year now, after it was done by my friend. It's all I have for now but I plan on getting the other side, my septum, my hips, and my cheekbone done.

A funny note to the first part; Picking a piecer.
I used to have a nose piercing, and I got that one made at a hairdresser's in Germany. Funny enough I never had problems with it at all! It was never swollen, seriously. I cleaned it like they told me too, I used chlorhexidine.

Then someday I changed the piercing, and forgot to clean it - STUPID, so it got affected pretty bad, but I got a hand over it, and soon it was back to normal - but not long after I got a huge flu, and it felt really disgusting having it in, when my nose was literally full of snot, therefore I took it out and unfortuantely I never got it back it - that's what happens when you're lazy and have a bad memory.

But yeah, pointless I know, but I just think that it's kinda funny that I got in at a hairdresser's and have never had any problem with it :)

I have a severe metal allergy, it's not only nickel but metal in general. I used to be so bad I couldn't wear jeans because of the buttons. Now it's gotten better but it's still hard to care for my piercings.

I have my lip, nose and ears pierced. My lip took months because of my allergy. I have to wear plastic some times so it doesn't actup. My nose was done about a month ago. It was healing up nicely but ow its starting to bleed. Meaning my allergy is being a bitch. So I bought a plastic screw to put in. My second holes just healed a few months ago. I have gauges too, they are small but these don't get infected because my tapers and plugs are plastic/acrylic.

A word of advice is always have a professional do your piercings. Doing it yourself may be cheaper, but they know what they are doing. Plus it's always fun to meet the scared people in the tattoo shops.

I got my nape pierced three weeks ago and I love it! Looks good and settled, so I'm leaving it well alone and cleaning it once a day, twice seemed to be making it itch and just be annoying. So happy with it! Cute

Hey! Fun story time. I got my septum pierced two years ago. I've had it for almost a year, it was still tender, and I cleaned it regularly. Not everyday, but enough to where it didn't bother me. Then, it got really infected. I'm talking a thick, yellow ooze gushing from the hole, drenching my black captive. Crust galore. The amount of ooze royally freaked me out. It was disgusting. My entire septum was swollen and red.

What did I do? I took it out.

Earlier this year, I went to have it re-pierced. I went to a different shop. This one I had gotten a tattoo at and everything was clean. The employees, the floor, the smell. The people there are nice - even when the place is packed and busy as all hell. The piercer told me she could probably pierce it through the same hole, for it wasn't closed a long time. I thought that was cool.

I told her what happened last time. She seemed just as disgusted as I was. I also brought up how I felt like the retainer was still in there. She cleaned my nostrils and felt inside them with two gloved index fingers. "Aha." She had found the last piercing. "You weren't pierced through your septum," she said. I pulled a face. I was pretty sure I was. I mean, I was there right? "You were pierced through your nose cartilage. That's why you can still feel it. You have scar tissue build up." (Fun fact: that cartilage was pierced by a registered nurse.)

So, that day I got my septum pierced. Not for the second time like I thought, but for the first.

I just recently got my right tragus pierced. When I complete my GED, I'm getting my nose pierced and after completing my first semester at Wor Wic, I'm getting my lip done.

I have pierced myself before, and have been very lucky. I haven't gotten any infections and I haven't pierced a nerve, so yeah. The only scarring I have is on my lip, where I pierced and re-pierced myself in the same spot over and over again.

I want so many more piercings, both in my ears and my face. I also want surface piercings, and lucky for me, my birth dad is a professional piercing/tattoo artist, so I get free piercings! Woop-woop!

    Anyway, yeah.

I think piercings are pretty awesome. I went with my friend the other day so she could get her conch pierced. I want to get my cartilage done and maybe my nose but I don't know about my nose yet. I only have my lobes pierced right now because I'm a noob. My cousin's fiance has his tongue pierced. My family is crazy when it comes to tattoos and piercings.

I've had a cartilage piercing for about 21 months now. Sometimes it just annoys me to have an earring in so I take it out for a while (maybe 15 minutes tops) and I'm wondering just how long I can leave it out without it closing up? I know, I know, I sound ridiculous but I'm that worried it will close up. So how long can I leave it out for? I mean I'm not going to leave it out for a week, but is a day or two alright?

I've had one of my cartilage piercings for about two years or so as well, and I had to take it out for an event. (Not my idea Grr) Anyway, it was a good few hours I had had it out and it didn't close.

Plus, if you have your lobes pierced (and have for years) and never wear them like I do, you can still get an earring through them. It just might be a bit trickier. But I don't know, the cartilage could be different.

I would think you could leave it out for a couple days, I don't know why you wouldn't be able too, but I'd still be nervous doing it myself :/

I have 15 piercings in total that I have accquired over the last five years. Triple lobes (6), three helix rings, an industrial bar, conch, nose, lip, eyebrow and my newest addition, my tongue. My first holes in my lobes are also spaced, my left is a 12g and my right is a 4g. They used to be the same size, but my left ear became severely irritated by a wooden spacer that I used and I had to take it out and let the hole shrink down again and I'm just now starting to stretch again a year and a half later. My first two lobe piercings were done with a gun in a Claire's at the mall when I was 7, and the rest were pierced by a professional. All of my piercings have been done by the same guy except for my tongue, because my guy doesn't like to pierce tongues, so he sent me to his mentor to have my tongue pierced. I plan to eventually have my nipples pierced once I turn 18, and I really want a microdermal right above my cleavage, and possibly one on the back of my neck.

I have six piercings in all but I never have anything in my lobes File that leaves two cartilage in my left ear and one cartilage and a tragus in my right.

I'm thinking about getting my anti-tragus done, but I'm not sure. Anyone have one? And if so, experiences?

I was spending some time with a relative I'm pretty close to (she likes to think she has as much control over me as my mom, which, sadly, she kind of does) and she saw that I had gotten both my ears pierced again.

    Her exact words:

"Don't get anymore hardware in your ears."

    >.< Well excuse me. I might as well go to Home Depot and buy some nails and screws to put in my ears.
