The people who gave us our cats, I guess I'd call them distant family friends? Their middle son does self peircings. He done his lip, nose, ears and some private places.

I'm tempted to get him to do mine so I don't have to pay :shifty
I suppose it would be less expensive..
If you're sure he never got any infections / whatever when he did it to himself; and you trust him well enough; I'd do it if I were you.
On the other hand; when you're having it done in a shop; you can alwyas go back to the shop when there's problems and they're required to give you all the service you need afterwards.
That friend of you isn't. I'm not saying he'd leave you walking around with a lip twice it's size; but he's not a professional, right ? So surely the shop could help you better in that department; if it might go wrong.
It's kind of like a well-guaranteed aftercare I'd like to have.

    True
I think Mum would prefer me to go to Joe's anyway, seeing as they're the best professionals in the area. She won't be to happy if AJ does it, she doesn't trust him all that well. His willy peircing got infected :lmfao

My sister tried to pierce her bellybutton herself. omgno:
But she couldn't get the needle all the way through.
Haha, that same thing happened to me XD I was so bummed, because it took me forever to get it halfway through and then it wouldn't come out, so I was just sitting there for fifteen minutes trying to get it the rest of the way through, but I came to my senses and pulled it out.

    I have earlobe piercings Yawn
I pierced my ear myself around the middle of it and it took me ages and I freaked out like hell, but my friend was all like "do it do it don't be a wimp", so I got it through and kept the needle in for a while, but when I took it out, the hole was too small to let anything else through omgno:

I pierced my forearm like a billion times, actually only nine. It didn't hurt too much, but my body rejected them after a while. Had to take them out. Maybe it was because I just had badges inside the piercings Shifty

Meh, I have tried to pierce my neck. Didn't work. I'm so glad, for obvious reasons...

I heard that if you get your eyebrow pierced in the wrong place, half of your face becomes paralyzed. I so don't want an eyebrow piercing now... I actually do want one, but I wanna skip the pain and swelling and grossness and droopiness and get to the hotness, so I can look like Amy Lee. XD

I wouldn't mind two lip piercings right next to each other (are they called spiderbites?), but I kinda don't want a droopy lip.

And I'd like my nose pierced, but I'm actually shit scared of needles. At the time I did that stuff ^ I was a user, so...

    :D

By the way, this is just... woah...

My friend pierced his lip with an SRC badge, in the middle of school. :tehe:

I have a question. Lately my ear piercings have been getting really itchy, can anyone recommend something that will help them stop?
I use Sterelon, which is like an alcohol-based fluid that's like desinfectional, so it should clean whatever is making your ears itch.
I'd take the ear piercings out and cleanse the holes with either Sterelon or some other alcohol-based substance, then clean the piercings with the same stuff [use another tissue or whatever though]; and put them back in.

I must be really uncreative, but I can't imagine piercing anything myself.
Yeah, so I would surely physically be able to press a needle through my lip; but then what ? You're gonna have to need a piercing at hand to relace the needle with, right? And also; the piercing is going to be thicker than the needle; so it'll hurt like a bitch, right ? *shivers.
There are girls at my school, that literally run a business with piercings. They specialise in ear piercings. They don't bother with a needle. Just shove the earring straight through.

    ^^ Whoaa. :shifty
I respect that, but I also think it's hella weird.

&& the picture two posts above me happily creeps me uit. :tehe:

Oh, I'd also totally like to have my tongue pierced, but I'm scared I'll end up talking like a baboon, so..
It's stupid because I want so many stuff done, but I don't want to come out for it all of the time. Like when I'm going to a job interview; I don't want scene hair and piercings all over. I'll admit; I'm a pansy who isn't sure about how I should be like all the time.
So I just go with. You know. A boob piercing. And call it rad. :shifty

My parents love my piercings - they think they're pretty. I have four lobe piercings and two left cartilage. The bottom lobe set I had when I was 2 months old. I didn't get the second until just a week ago when a friend did them. We did it the old fashion way - a needle and a potato. That's how my mom got hers done. I wasn't going to pay $20 for something that isn't that hard. Piercing your ears by yourself really isn't that hard especially if it's lobe and doesn't get infected as easily if you clean it. For me, it hurt more than my cartilage which was a 14 gage needle. I would've thought the bigger needle would hurt.

I got my cartilage done the first time when I turned 13. My brother took me to the place were he got his tattoos since he trusted that guy more than the people at Claire's. (Claire's does it the wrong way anyway! They put a stud in. Studs are bad since your ear swells and it could pop out. This happened to my brother's girlfriend.) When I went back when I was 15 the guy was all, "Hey! I know you! I'll only charge you $20 if you let me change the ring when you're healed."
See? If you go to the same place and build a relationship, you might get discounts. I only had to pay half.

I do suggest, though, piercings other than ears get done by a professional. I know so many people who tried to give themselves bellybutton piercings. They've gotten infected. Same with their nipples. Imagine that infected! And lips. I only know one guy who can do it the right way that isn't a professional.

Anyway...I don't like lip piercings all that much. Maybe just the single loop on the side on some people. I hate snakebites. I think they look horrible. Same with septum, bridge and Monroe. Big gages I don't like either. I like eyebrow piercings, though. Tongue piercings are okay.

I've got ears X2 (second set I DIY'd), nose, belly button and a conch (but Ime getting other conch done on Saturday as I have an obsession with even numbers of piercings!)
My friend did my cartalige for me in her kitchen XD not the greatest of ideas. It didnt get infected - infact it healed mega quick and mega well, but I dye my hair ALOT and it kept getting caught.
She's done her ears 13 times on each and her sternum DIY. The only thing thats ever gone bad was sternum.
And I did have both traguses pierced but one migrated and the other got caught in my headphones and ripped. So I decided not to go there again and go for conches instead.

I'm learning to pierce as part of my tattoo apprenticeship. I've done piercings on myself (hygienic and clamped) but I wouldn't trust myself with other people until I go pro.

Why not? They totally told me to use it for the lobe piercings at least.
I wouldn't have thought there's that much different between 'soft flesh' and cartilage ?

I've wanted to get my nose pierced for months, almost a year. But I chickened out after reading all the tragic stories regarding piercings on the internet, as well as in newspapers.

For some unknown reason I still want it, though. Actually, I know it- I think it would look good on me. Really good. I may sound arrogant, but Wink

    So, positive experience? Anyone?

^My friend just got her nose pierced a few days ago and it's doing fine! The only downside she said was that it's hard to wash your face and blow your nose...and it definatly is going to hurt a little a few days afterwards.
If your parents give you permission, I would do it.

I was told to use rubbing alcohol by the person who owned the tattoo/piercing parlor for my cartilage piercings.
Now that I have another lobe set just done I use it again. Works just fine. Same with peroxide.
If anything, it helped the cartilage heal faster.

I got a cartilage piercing done and it got infected so I had to take it out. I really want to get it redone, should I get it redone in the other ear? Or can I get it redone in the same ear?

As long as the previous piercing has healed over completely, it should be fine to redo it in the same ear.

you shouldn't have taken it out, antibiotics would have done the trick without having to remove the jewelery. But once your initial piercing is fully healed you may be able to get it re pierced, but it would be better to opt for the other side since their will be no tough scar tissue to get through

Nose piercings are dead set easy to take care of, like all piercings go to a reputable professional you will be okay. I had mine done a few years ago and didn't have a single issue with it, cept the keloid thing, but thats regular with me, my mum had her nose pierced in march this year, I paid for it as a birthday present for her and she didn't have any issues either. None of the people I know with nose piercings had any issues
