    Emilie Autumn for life Clap

    "There's a spotlight of a holy kind
    Think it comes from somewhere
    Up in the sky
Or from some far off lovely place
But this light never ever, ever shone on me
At least as far as I could see
So I sat in the dark and I watched you

Now I just cry to myself
    When there's no one around
And I teach myself to walk backwards out of any given situation
Yes, l can be graceful and try not to step on my train
And you don't have to say goodbye
But I'll be right here if you want to.

You were ever in my mind
You were behind my soul each time I held it to the flame
You were ever in my precious thoughts
I'd leave a room of angels just to be alone
If only to say your name
I never told you I needed you darling
Like a rose needs the rain
How could you possibly know how much?
So I reach for your love
Like the moon and the stars
    Ever in my sight
    Ever out of touch"

    Ever - Emilie Autumn

Frank Turner, for so many reasons...

Yeah, well life is about love, lost minutes and lost evening
About fire in our bellies and about furtive little feelings
And the aching amplitudes that set our needles all a-flickering
And they help us with remembering that the only thing that's left to do is live

aand, from Reasons not to be an idiot....

He's not as clever as he likes to think
He's just ambitious with his arguing
He's crap at dancing, yeah and he can't hold his drink
Deep down he's just like everybody else

I'm not as awesome as this song makes out
I'm angry, underweight and sketching out
I'm building bonfires on my vanities and doubts
To get warm just like everybody else

    Tom Waits - In Love

His lyrics are, in my own humble opinion (tehe) some of the best in the entire world. He has a way with words, and way with saying and singing those words that are just beautiful. There's a live version of Burma Shave where he speaks almost the entire thing (adding a few words here and there), that's just exquisite. So gorgeous. In Love

    Burma Shave
Licorice tattoo turned a gun metal blue
Scrawled across the shoulders of a dying town
Took the one eyed Jacks across the railroad tracks
And the scar on its belly pulled a stranger passing through
He's a juvenile delinquent, never learned how to behave
But the cops'd never think to look in Burma-Shave

And the road was like a ribbon, and the moon was like a bone
He didn't seem to be like any guy she'd ever known
He kind of looked like Farley Granger with his hair slicked back
She says 'I'm a sucker for a fella in a cowboy hat.
    How far are you going?'
Said 'Depends on what you mean'
He says 'I'm only stopping here to get some gasoline'
'I guess I'm going thataway, just as long as it's paved
And I guess you'd say I'm on my way to Burma-Shave'

And with her knees up on the glove compartment
She took out her barrettes, and her hair spilled out like rootbeer
And she popped her gum and arched her back
'Hell, Marysville ain't nothing but a wide spot in the road
Some nights my heart pounds like thunder
Don't know why it don't explode
Cause everyone in this stinking town's got one foot in the grave
And I'd rather take my chances out in Burma-Shave'

    Singapore
    We sail tonight for Singapore,
We're all as mad as hatters here
I've fallen for a tawny Moor,
Took off to the land of Nod
    Drank with all the Chinamen,
    Walked the sewers of Paris
I danced along a colored wind,
Dangled from a rope of sand
You must say goodbye to me

    We sail tonight for Singapore,
Don't fall asleep while you're ashore
Cross your heart and hope to die
When you hear the children cry
Let marrow bone and cleaver choose
While making feet for children shoes
Through the alley, back from hell,
When you hear that steeple bell
You must say goodbye to me

    Wipe him down with gasoline
'til his arms are hard and mean
From now on boys this iron boat's your home
    So heave away, boys

    We sail tonight for Singapore,
Take your blankets from the floor
Wash your mouth out by the door,
The whole town's made of iron ore
    Every witness turns to steam,
    They all become Italian dreams
Fill your pockets up with earth,
    Get yourself a dollar's worth
Away boys, away boys, heave away

The captain is a one-armed dwarf,
He's throwing dice along the wharf
In the land of the blind
The one-eyed man is king, so take this ring

    We sail tonight for Singapore,
We're all as mad as hatters here
I've fallen for a tawny Moor,
Took off to the land of Nod
    Drank with all the Chinamen,
    Walked the sewers of Paris
I drank along a colored wind,
I dangled from a rope of sand
You must say goodbye to me

Jesse Lacey is a genius, I must say.

Some rules are made with all intentions to break
And she defends it with a warped rationale
But I've seen what happens to the wicked and proud
When they decided to try to take on the throne for the crown.

I hate to say it, but Pete Wentz really is great at lyrics.

Bruce Springsteen is just an amazing poet. "Rosalita" is the greatest love song ever written in my opinion.
Brian Fallon is also sort of following in his footsteps:
"Well I was born in a town where the rivers flow free
On a January night when the cold winds freeze
I got an Irish name and an injury
Blessing and a curse cast down on me...
    " - "Red at Night"

Bob Nanna is simply amazing as well:
"In the corner of Aurora there's a girl all aglow
And she's waiting for a car that isn't showing
We are on our way to save you
And in the madness of it all, there's a phone call coming
From a ragged Romeo to Juliet
We are on our way to save you.
" - "Quality Revenge at Last"

I'll always go with Paul McCartney whenever this question is asked of me. He's just such a gifted inspirational perfomer and poet.

Monkberry Moon Delight is probably my favourite solo song of his, but when it comes to his time in The Beatles, it has to be:

"But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down.
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round."

That song is just chillingly beautiful, and so simple.

He can write really angry lyrics, really beautiful sappy lyrics, and really meaningful lyrics. Everything that man comes up with is something that I can relate to in some way...

    I praise Liberty
    The "Freedom to Obey"
Is the song that strangles me
    Don't cross the line

    Dream, America dream,
    I can't even sleep
    From the lights early dawn
    Scream, America scream
Believe what you see from heroes and cons?

    Davey Havok from AFI:

Of late, it's harder just to go outside
To leave this deadspace with hatred, so alive
Writhing with sickness, thrown into banality, I decay
Killed by the weakness, but forced to return, turn it off

I watch the stars as they fall from the sky
I held a fallen star and it wept for me, dying
I feel the fallen stars encircle me, now as they cry

    Come gather 'round people
    Wherever you roam
    And admit that the waters
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
    If your time to you
    Is worth savin'
    Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

I might be a bit biased since she's a cousin and I've grown up listening to her music, but Mary Ann Kennedy, a country singer/ songwriter. She's been writing a lot of music about animals, which I think is fascinating. =]

The moon, the stars, the rivers where we drink
The stallions cry, the thunder of his feet
The wind, the rain, this is what I know
    This is my home.

    Marilyn Manson is utterly fantastic.
Count to Six and Die lyrics:
She's got her eyes open wide
she's got the dirt and spit of the world
    her mouth on the metal
the lips of a scared little girl

I've got an angel in the lobby
he's waiting to put me in line
    I won't ask forgiveness
    my faith has gone dry

They're not famous [[Yet. It's only a matter of time before they are]] but on youtube there's these two brothers that make up A Cue Stic[k] band. Amazing stuff.

    So cut the verses
    Erase the chorus
    Burn the bride
    Cause Im over it
    Leave only this
    Yeah Ill leave you with
    A last goodbye
Cause you dont wanna fight, you dont wanna care, you dont wanna cry
I dont wanna go but you want me there, so I guess Ill
Just grow accustomed to the notion of not loving you because
All that you have put me through has been anything and everything but new.

Holy wow... I just looked them up... they are ridiculously good! They have incredible lyrics, no lie. They better make it big, otherwise I'm going to lose all faith in the music industry. In Love
Edit: I just finished listening to most of their songs. I've cried during five of them, at least, and I really don't know why.

Definetely Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes. I adore Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin and I am also a new fan of Samuel Beam (aka Iron and Wine).

"And I know you have a heavy heart, I can feel it when we kiss
So many men stronger than me have thrown their backs out trying to lift it
But me I'm not a gamble, you can count on me to split
The love I sell you in the evening by the morning won't exist

You're looking skinny like a model with your eyes all painted black
Just keep going to the bathroom, always say you'll be right back
Well, it takes one to know one, kid, I think you've got it bad
But what's so easy in the evening by the morning's such a drag"

    - from "Lua" by Bright Eyes

    "Where are you now?
As I'm swimming through the stereo
I'm writing you a symphony of sound
    Where are you now?
As I rearrange the songs again
This mix could burn a hole in anyone
But it was you I was thinking of"[/]

    - from "The Mixed Tape" - Jack's Mannequin

"no hands are half as gentle
or firm as they like to be
thank God you see me the way you do
strange as you are to me

it is good in my lady's house
every shape that her body makes
    love is a fragile word
in the air on the length we lay["/i]

Alex Gaskarth. He really does write good music, inspiring and just for a good time. :)

I've never told a lie, and that makes me a liar
I've never made a bet but we gamble with desire
I've never lit a match with intent to start a fire but recently the flames are getting out of control
Call me a name, kill me with words
Forget about me, it's what I deserve
I was your chance to get out of this town
but I ditched the car and left you to wait outside
I hope the air will serve to remind you
That my heart is as cold as the clouds of your breath
And my words are as timed as the beating in my chest

I love Anya Marina. ;] She has a sweet voice, and her lyrics tickle my fancy.

    [Miss Halfway]
You outta' hear the things I've been thinking.
You outta' swim in a heart that is sinking.
You try to break me with all the things you say.
    Miss almost, miss maybe.
    Miss halfway.
    Donated 60 k.
    Invest in IRA's.
But I'm busy making paper airplanes
    out of resumes.
I'm gonna' burn, shine and multiply.
I'm gonna' fill up the great divide.
You'll never break me with all the things you say.
    Miss almost, miss maybe.
    Miss halfway.
I'm gonna' burn a pie now and then.
I'm gonna' say the wrong things to your friends.
I'm gonna' burn, shine and multiply.
And when I do, you're gonna' see me in her eyes.
