    Fear of Words:
Conor Oberst, is in fact, a genius.

And I sat watching a flower
    As it was withering
    I was embarrassed by
    It's honesty
So I'd prefer to be remembered
    As a smiling face
    Not this fucking wreck
    That's taken it's place

-No Lies, Just Love; Bright Eyes
Oh my God...I think I love you for saying that. I totally agree with you.
And Gerard Way and Ben Kowalewicz(Billy Talent).

But definately Conor Oberst. I love that man for his creativity and wonder with words. He has written so many good songs it is amazing.

Edit; How could I forget Adam Lazzara? Um, I'm not all too sure if he writes the lyrics, but like, I'll just assume that he does :XD

It's too bad it's not my style
    If you need me
I'm out and on the parkway,
    patient and waiting for headlights,
dressed in a fashion that's fitting to the
    inconsistencies of my moods
    Yeah, he does mostly.
That's my favorite song by them :weird

And not a song, but something he wrote in the TBS blog:
i saw a deer on my way home
standing in the center of the road
i like to think we had a moment
but sitting on a motorcycle after coming to a dead stop
when once going 45 miles per hour leaves,
    sadly,
    everything to hindsight...
    fucker that it is...
    that hindsight...
everything i should have said like,
    "hey man, how's it going?"
    or
"what are you doing out here at this time of night, you've got to be lonely"
the funny thing is neither the deer or anyone i make time with
    reads this
so that leaves us all with a little secret on our hands...

    And Shaant Hacikyan:
No one is telling me the speed I should be traveling
So watch me take the lead

    Have you ever been fake
For the sake of saving face?

The roads are wrapped around your waist
    They lead me
    Place to place
I take trips from hip to hip
In fact I've made a career out of it
I've always thought the left was your strongest side
But when it comes to you I can't decide
    It's only a matter of
    Time
I need the product of your fears in the form of tears
It's the only way I can survive
It breaks my heart to see you crying baby
It's the only way I'll stay alive
    Green eyes
    Blue skies
    Natural disasters when she cries
    Green eyes
    They're mine
It's only a matter of time

Robert Smith (From The Cure) - all cats are grey

    The columns are all men
    Begging to crush me
No shapes sail on the dark deep lakes
And no flags wave me home

    In the caves
    All cats are grey
    In the caves
    The textures coat my skin
    In the death cell
    A single note
Rings on and on and on

John Vesley, the lyricist and guitarist of Secondhand Serenade.
    Your Call:
Stripped and polished, I am new, I am fresh
I am feeling so ambitious, you and me, flesh to flesh
Cause every breath that you will take
When you are sitting next to me
Will bring life into my deepest hopes,
    What's your fantasy?

And Nick Thomas from the Spill Canvas. I don't know if he's the only one who writes the lyrics, but I'm pretty sure he's a big contributor.
    The Tide:
    And he can't understand
How everyone goes on breathing when true love ends.
    His mother whispers quietly;
Heaven's not a place that you go when you die.
It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive
    So live for the moment.
And take this advice, live by every word,
Love is just a hoax so forget anything that you have heard
And live for the moment now.

    This is for Keeps:
My brain is pumping an unusual secretion of lust
    Your eyes are softer now
and your chin, it drips a bloody color of rust
I am raising up the stakes of this round, I am playing for keeps
Oh, would you like to leave this human race, tonight?

I also like Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins, too.
    Tonight, Tonight:
    Well crucify the insincere tonight
Well make things right, well feel it all tonight
Well find a way to offer up the night tonight
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
    The impossible is possible tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight
    .

    Bullet with Butterfly Wings:
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Then someone will say what is lost can never be saved
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage.

    Color Me Blood Red:
I definitly think Tuomas Holopainen is an amazing lyricist. He's Finnish, so english is his second language, yet he still can write beautiful poetry in english, which I think is amazing.

From the Poet And The Pendulum:

    Forgive me
    I have but two faces
One for the world , One for God , Save me

...I just wish the tide would catch me first and give me a death I always longed for...

    Ocean Soul
Should I dress in white and search the sea?
As I always wished to be - one with the waves
    Ocean Soul

    Bless the Child
Why am I loved only when I'm gone?
...Think of me long enough to make a memory

    Dead Boy's Poem
    Never sigh for better world
It`s already composed, played and told

"If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse, songmaker`s cry, the one without tears
For I`ve given this its strength and it has become my only strength.
Comforting home, mother`s lap, chance for immortality
Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life"

Lol I know that it was more then 10 lines but it was hard to even pick those few lines! If you like poetry go to Nightwish.com and go to lyrics to read more by this amazing poet.
I know, he has better lyrics than people with English as their first language!

I realize its difficult, but now I can see...

    I may not be perfect
    But I've always been true
I may not be worthy in your eyes

I can't believe I forgot Stephan Jenkins from Third Eye Blind!

    Blinded:
Time passes and it tells us what we're left with
We become the things we do
Me I'm a fool, spent from defiance, yeah you got me but
I didn't give up on you

Icarus is not a tee shirt or a swan song, no
He is born again and it's not easy being me
But I can't promise I will mend or bend
When you believe that we are fixed now from our birth
And I've just fallen back to earth
Still you know I'll try again
Cause I believe that we are lucky
We are golden we're stolen manners
In the days when we were one

    Motorcycle Drive By:
And there's this burning, Like there's always been,
I've never been so alone, And I've never been so alive.
Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by,
The cigarette ash flies in your eyes, And you don't mind,
    you smile,
And say the world doesn't fit with you.
    I don't believe you, You're so serene.
Careening through the universe, Your axis on a tilt, You're guiltless and free,
I hope you take a piece of me with you,
And there's things I would like to do that you don't believe in,
I would like to build something, Buy you'll never going see it happen,
And there's this burning, Like there's always been,
I've never been so alone, And I've,
    I've never been so alive,

And there's this burning, There is this burning.
Where's the soul. I want to know, New York City is evil.
The surface is everything, but I could never do that,
    Someone would see through that.
And this is the last time, We'll be friends again.
I'll get over you, you'll wonder, who I am.
And there's this burning, Just like there's always been,
I've never been so alone, alone, alive, alive, I've never been so alive.

    Wounded:
The guy who put his hands on you
Has got nothing to do with me
And the bruises that you feel will heal
And I hope you'll come around
    Cause we're missing you
And you used to speak so easy
Now you're afraid to talk to me

It's like walking with the wounded
Carrying that weight way too far
Concrete pulled you down so hard
    Out there with the wounded
    We're missing you
Well I never claimed to understand what happens after dark
But my fingers catch the sparks at the thought of touching you
    When you're wounded

He's so amazing. I'd do him. I don't even care if he's in his forties.

    Davey Havok writes pure poetry.

    AFI - This Celluoid Dream
Calling tears from deep inside, oh, you're so exquisite
And in the mirror, all midnight eyes
Oh, if I could remain, but it's just a visit
    All midnight eyes read "vacancy"
    Twisted, twisting

To the lovely dancing lights, I begged, "May I cut in?"
But they never stopped playing "their song"
Of a joyous song they sing, I've heard whispers
On a freezing note, I resonate

    AFI - Morningstar
And I don't want to die tonight; Will you believe in me?
And I don't want to fall into the light.

    Will you wish upon?
    Will you walk upon me?
I don't want to die tonight.

Will you believe in me tonight.

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I a ghost upon the stage?
    Am I your anything?

And Sonny Moore is also a true poet, in his solo work you can see it.

    Sonny - Mora
Seal your lips with the black stitch of a secret
Parade with that speechless dryness of the desert
Lay flat under the lime light and feed off of the fiction
Cold callus and boiled between the bleak deep of your dirty hands

    Sonny - Copaface
Where my face is a moon full of craters
    With crummy eyes and cyst-thighs
    Aperfect beacon for the fictionettes
Who spread their legs wide open on the plasma
Embodiments of everything i hide about my self today

And of course Justin Furstenfeld is amazing.

    Blue October - Overweight
I want to carry a piece of who I was before
So when I hit the wall, I really hit the wall
I want to tear away the death again
A whiter shade of fucking meth again
I want to stick to clues, I want to come unglued
I want to shape the world to fit the way you move
Oh, should I listen for a dress size?

Blue October - Sound of Pulling Heaven Down
So never look behind you, spooky people bring you down
The world is ending there's a party by the bay
I'll wear my suit and tie when I am
I am toasting to the way you put that smile upon my face (yeah)

    If this is our fate
Free yourself from the doubt in you now!
    You're inches away, away
    You'll kick and you'll scream
    They'll claw at your feet
    To lead you a side

    Misfits:
Born or created in the image
Of a god the heavens fall
    No savior has been sent
    No one to guide us
    Alone we face the night
    Mortal life is brief
    For the rebel angels
    They make their final stand
    And soon you'll be alone

Of course, there's Avenged Sevenfold and Sonny Moore. I just can't pick my favorite lyrics by them.

    Fear of Words:
Oh my God, I did not include Ryan Hunter in my last post.
Holy hell, he is just amazing. And I'm going to post lots of examples of his amazing work.

Cause we might as well be blind
    If seeing is believing
    This parable's misleading
You've got your shotgun loaded with excuses
    That you'll fire in vain
But those twelve rounds just won't do
    There's barely time for pity
And all the girls are all just too pretty
I'll start to worry when I'm dead

    -If God Smoked Cheap Cigars.

Cause I fall three times as hard
If it's from nothing at all
You all seem twice as tall as I will ever be
    Cause I feel terribly small
When my head works too hard
When you think with your chest
There's not a thing that you don't see

I'm hardly capable of half the damage
That I would like to do
    I could swear that I don't care
But you know I'm too full of shit to think this through
    So look at me
    I pray to God
But curse too much to be considered true
    I'm just like me
    I'm just like me
So who the hell are you?

    - Starving Your Friends.

Wake all the children from their slumber
    Before they wonder
Why the dreams have gone to hell

Wake all the children from their sleep
Down the staircase we shall creep
To the basement of this white picket home

Let's show them where the bad ones go
    For all they know
    For all they know
    Their heroes are still untouchable

    - (x) Amount of Truth

I could go on and on, because he was such a beautiful way of handling words.
I love you for posting that. Ryan Hunter is AMAZING. My favorite song is definitely Because All Suffering Is Sweet to Me.

You're worth more than this to me
You're worth more than you can see
I don't care whatt he book said, girl
    You didn't die in vain

I found you hanging on their words
With a noose you let them tie 'round your neck.
They took thirteen years, but you kept the rest
And aches and pains and medicine mean nothing if you can't feel your skin
Little boy and girls, this seems like hell
But you're worth more than you can take

With a relic in her right hand
She rushes to the front line
Stricken by the wounds across her chest
The angels swear she's blessed with this medical test
That unlocks the gates to the place that we live for
    We die for
I know that she's bound for
And with a subtle wink and a mother's instict
    She whispered
    She whispered......

-Tell Them That She's Not Scared

    In Love

Billie Joe Armstrong is amazing, in my opinion. That man's words just hold so much emotion...some of Green Day's songs are somewhat trivial (i.e., "Longview," which is about boredom and masturbation), but he makes some pretty good points.

    I don't feel any shame
    I won't apologize
When there ain't nowhere you can go
    Running away from pain
    When you've been victimized
    Tales from another broken home

Plus, his voice is absolutely beautiful.

I love the song The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars. Jared Leto says that it is not a song about a relationship, but a song about confronting who you really are. The lyrics are just amazing
