I forgot Frank Turner too. Gahhhh.
He seriously is one of the few people who really really speak to me, and on so many different levels.
His lyrics are just so raw and true... And amazingly put together.

Don't you ever kind of wish that the world would just... Stop?
That the band would pack up and the curtain would drop.
Cause I've been stuck inside the same old nights, the same old days alone
And I need you now because I can't get out of this.

And I'm trying to speak straight, but I'm drunk and I'm lonely and you won't believe me.
And I'm trying to move straight, but I've been up for days and it scares you away.
And I'm trying to keep straight, but I'd trade it all for just five minutes more
Of your wandering hands with their simple demands that are all the things I ever wanted,
Better than the powder and pills.

Justin Pierre of motion city soundtrack In Love
because...well i just love the lyrics however simply they are put together,

    antonia by motion city soundtrack-

    She's always eating Captain Crunch
She sings a lot of Ben Folds Five
She's scared to death of cobra snakes
    Just like Indiana Jones
She tells the dumbest knock-knock jokes
She drinks a lot of Chardonnay
She hates the way I comb my hair
But she married me last June
She was the bride, I was the groom
I cried a lot and then we spooned
Without her in my life I would be doomed
It gets cold when she's not around
I float until I sink and I'm swallowed up
It's so cold when she's not around
I wait for her to come home and tell me I'll be fine
    Tell me I'll be fine

whoever the lyricist if for death cab
    is just..wow

brothers on a hotel bed by death cab for cutie-

On the back of a motor bike
With your arms outstretched trying to take flight
    Leaving everything behind
But even at our swiftest speed
We couldn't break from the concrete
In the city where we still reside.
And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea like navy men
Cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides
Like brothers on a hotel bed

    pete wentz <3

a little less sixteen candles - fall out boy

    I confess, I messed up
dropping "I'm sorry" like you're still around
And I know you dressed up
hey kid you'll never live this down
'Cause you're just the girl all the boys want to dance with
And I'm just the boy who's had too many chances
I'm sleeping on your folk's porch again, dreaming
She said, she said, she said, "Why don't you just drop dead?"
I don't blame you for being you
But you can't blame me for hating it
So say, what are you waiting for?
    Kiss her, kiss her
I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late

I already posted, but this one guy is too important for me to ignore:

Max Bemis, from Say Anything. He's so unafraid and unashamed to write whatever he wants, no matter how personal or embarrassing, and he has this wry sense of humor about everything. He's pretty amazing.

"I'd rather spend an evening giving birth than see how your eyes are glued on everyone but the person you're talking to."

"If only you could see me, we'd dance like a heart attack."

"I wake up in a room and realize I'm insane again
This is the fifth time straight in a year I've ended up in here eating PBJ's and watching the Church Channel nightly."

"I think I'm fine the way I am (and yes, I chase my milk with ham)."

"Maybe someday we together can be the king and queen
Make me believe you mean this."

"Falling in love could be the first thing
Falling in love could be the worst thing
    There's no rehearsing
    Retarded in love."

"And I screw my life up evermore as I puke my lungs out on the floor
And I fuck my life up evermore as I shit my heart out on the floor."

He's crazy, and he never holds back from showing it in his lyrics.

I have to totally agree with you on him, he is absolutely amazing.
I'm a fan of Rou Reynolds lyrics from Enter Shikari

    From "Adieu":

"And I long for you to appear
After losing your way across star riddled skies
    To carry you home

    I cherish my loss
A gentle reminder, that life is unkind
    At the best of times
Home could be anywhere, when I am holding you"

And I really love all the lyrics from The Classic Crime as well.

    Gabe Saporta is pretty good;

    'Cause I know it's just a game.
But I'm playing it to win.
    I won't forget from where I came.
But it's time to take over.

    Gerard Way is amazing;

    In Love

    I can tell that
    you. don't. know.

To all the fights I've conquered and beyond
The times have changed and I will now move over slowly...
But through it all I still feel lost without you
Hard to find a new soul
    The silence takes its toll

    Just sway
    You don't know...
    Just sway
    You don't know...
    Just sway
When all you want is to find home...

your lies are bleeding through your teeth,
and your arms are still the only ones holding me,
your promises never really meant a thing,
but they flowed from your lips
    so easily

it's "my best at your heart"
the glass that rips your word apart
is it the guilt that keeps you up at night while you're in bed?
when you can sleep sound honey, I'll write you a cheque

i never was too good with goodbyes
you made it easy when your greed presided
with all the evil that you provided
you still put the good in goodbye
    in goodbye,
    in goodbye..

stay away stay stay stay away from me.

I think one of the best Lyricallists ever, happens to be Peter Townshed of The Who.
Listen to some of they're songs,or read some of The Who's lyrics.

^^ Never thought of it, but you're totally right.

You can't go wrong with Jim Morrison (The Doors). He was a lyrical genius. As a poet, even better. He made you think.

    SIRENS

    Midnight
    criminal metabolism of guilt forest
    Rattlesnakes whistles catcalls

Remove me from this hall of mirrors
    This filthy glass

    Are you her
    Do you look like that
    How could you be when
    no one ever could

I love that one. and "The Anatomy of Rock"

    http://www.huddersfield1.co.uk/poetry/morrisonpoetry.htm for more. :D

Also, I'm fond of a lot of John Lennon's Lyrics, along with George Harrison. Both of them (not trying to dog on Ringo and Macca, just focusing on these two) seemed to intrigue me with their lyrics. Some so simple yet so intricate at the same time.

    hmm..
I could pick a few actually.

(i'm not exactly sure who writes their lyircs, but) Alkaline Trio:
Now run along my little nightmare.
    Your job is done here.
You've scared them all to death.
If they revive them just sit there.
Just smile dear. Make them thankful for every breath.

    Alex Gaskarth:
    Dead - Like a candle you burned out;
spill the wax over the spaces left in place of angry words.
    Scream - To be heard, like you needed any more attention;
throw the bottle, break the door, and disappear.

Sing me to sleep, I'll see you in my dreams,
waiting to say, "I miss you. I'm so sorry."

    Juliet Simms:
Pretending everything is right, to make it better.
I'll hide my make up smeared eyes, to show that I tried.

Some how you have managed to get under my skin, more than anyone ever did.
And if every whole makes a scar and every scar marks its place then I will never live freely without your trace.
And it'll never be fair, I wrote my songs for you and you never even cared.
So I'll forget you, I'll wish your t-shirt, kill the pillow and cut you out of pictures

    Shaant Hacikyan:
So sweet I can hardly speak
Due to such trauma in my teeth
But your body language is telling me that you're worth the pain

So weak I can hardly keep
Shakey legs, holdin' up my feet
But your body language is telling me that I'm not to blame

    Matt Godd:
This is your day with a whole world to face
What is your price to appease?
You can march to the beat that puts us to sleep
    Medicinal reality

    All my life
I've been searching for hope to find
Something more than just pawns in a chess game
    And blood stained names
    Just fall in line
    Fall in line

    Tom DeLonge: blink-182:
    I'm sick of always hearing
Sappy love songs on the radio
This place is fucking cursed and it's plagued
And I can never escape when my heart it explodes

    I can't forgive
    Can't forget
    Can't give in
    what went wrong?
Cause you said this was right
    You fucked up my life

    Tom DeLonge: Boxcar Racer:
    'Cause I feel so mad
    I feel so angry
    I feel so callused
    So lost, confused, again
    I feel so cheap
    So used, unfaithful
    Let's start over
    Let's start over

    Bryce Avary:
Run to you, I will run, I will run.
I will move right on through
All of these things that I have done.
And you'll take me back, I don't know why.
I want to say I'll never do it again,
    But I can't, but I will try.

    Self Against City:
Overrated boys and attention starved girls
A little curious, a little insecure
They call it love it might be premature
    But they don't need excuses

    Bert McCracken:
She had an earthquake on her mind
I almost heard her cry out as I left her far behind
and knew the world was crashing down around her

I sink now to the ocean floor
Because I know that we are more
But I've made this mess, I built this fire
    Are you still mine?

    and LAST BUT NOT LEAST!
    Spencer Camberlain/ Aaron Gillespie:
In a deep breath it all starts to change.
Flip my world inside out, honestly I like it better this way
When I mesh the night through the back of my eyes

    I have put myself here
    I'm the culprit
    I am the culprit

    I've been swallowed up alive
    Shut down
    Building from the inside out
I can finally walk through the walls

Alex Gaskarth has a way with words...

"Can you hear the crowd is calling,
    "Hey, sing louder now,"
You've got to show them what it means to be alive...
Dancing through the night has never been so rock n' roll,
You've got a good thing and it's time to let them know."

"The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, wherever she may be."

"So don't you go I've got you where I want you
    and I'm never letting go
hit the lights we'll be all right
    tonight our dreams come true."

Basically the fact the he was like, 16 and 17 when he wrote some of these songs amazes me.

I have, I have you breathing down my neck, breathing down my neck
I don't, don't know what you could possibly expect under this condition, so
I'll wait, I'll wait for the ambulance to come, ambulance to come
Pick us up off the floor, what did you possibly expect under this condition?
So slow down, this night's a perfect shade of

    Dark blue, dark blue

    - - -

I'm coming hope to lights and buzz
    Streets look the same
    Still nothing's as it was

Dani Filth; the next Shakespeare!! at least before he sold out.

This wintry eve when the snow glistens deep
And sharpened turrets wed the jewelless skies
I shrug off the shroud of preternatural sleep
Enbroided by these words Malaresia scribed....

    "Beauty slept and angels wept
    For Her immortal soul
In this repose, all evil chose
To claim her for their very own"
He didn't sell out, the band did ;)
I still love 'em to death anyway and I totally agree with you.
Dani Filth's lyrics are something from another world.
