    Valo Ink.:
My absolute favourite lyricist is Ville Valo, his lyrics just own my heart and soul 110%
You can feel his pain and heartache in his songs. He's one of the few lyricists that has the power to make you feel the same even if you have no reason too. I saw him live once, and he sang amazing even with a cigerette in his mouth.

    I love that man.

Ryan Redman (Exit Ten) amazes me with words. It's so hard to choose just a few specific lines, because everything he writes is stunning and beautiful.

We're the warriors and breakers of hearts
We'd be better off together - Let's start
I'll be showing you what we are capable of
I'll be showing you what we are capable of

I don't mind if you bury me
I will be loving you honestly
Heart races, I'm in no doubt
Your hold on me is tight enough
Love, lust, words stuck in my throat
There is something you ought to know
    Love always leaves a scar

They are always beautiful. Always amazing. It's just... gorgeous.

I'm pretty much in love with Dallas Green's lyrics.

And don't you bury me six feet under ground,
Just burn my body in a box,
And let my ashes blow with the wind,
    Out into the night sky.

We celebrate the lives of the dead
It's like a man's best party; only happens when he dies.
We gather round to pay our respects,
While their souls are still searching for the light.

    In Love

Oh, and a part from Maria Taylor's "Ballad Of Sean Foley" amazes me also.

    Always finds a muse,
    Everywhere he goes,
    Whether it's the blues,
    Or some abandoned show tune.

    Learned how to be selfless,
How to love what wasn't there,
    But never dwell upon it.
    Just embrace what's everywhere.

And I know you have a heavy heart; I can feel it when we kiss
So many men stronger than me have thrown their backs out trying to lift it
But me I’m not a gamble you can count on me to split
The love I sell you in the evening, by the morning won’t exist.

Billy Corgan. He writes amazing songs

Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time
On a live wire right up off the street
    You and I should meet

probably one of my all time favourite songs

and Jesse Lacey. I want some of that song writing talent :P

They worked out all of the bugs
so if you have enough money you can buy love

    EMINEM.

I truely, truely believe he is an amazing lyricist.

"I keep having this dream, I'm pushin' Hailie on the swing
She keeps screaming, she don't want me to sing
"You're making Mommy cry, why? Why is Mommy crying?"
Baby, Daddy ain't leaving no more, "Daddy you're lying
"You always say that, you always say this is the last time
"But you ain't leaving no more, Daddy you're mine"
She's piling boxes in front of the door trying to block it
"Daddy please, Daddy don't leave, Daddy - no stop it!"
Goes in her pocket, pulls out a tiny necklace locket
It's got a picture, "this'll keep you safe Daddy, take it withcha'"
I look up, it's just me standing in the mirror
These fuckin' walls must be talking, cuz man I can hear 'em"

Jon Bon Jovi. Just listen to (the album) Have A Nice Day.
All the lyics to Welcome To Wherever You Are.

"Your love's like one last cigarette
Last cigarette, I will savor it
    The last cigarette
Take it in and hold your breath, hope it never ends
But when it's gone, it's gone
    The last cigarette"

I don't know why, but I've always thought that was awesome. It's like, a really awesome metaphor. And I feel like such a geek for saying that.I don't see the hype around mcr's lyrics though... sorry. Listen to Welcome To Wherever You Are. If there was any song I could say gave me hope by its lyics that'd be the first song I think of.
I can see why people like the lyrics in Welcome To The Black Parde, but that's it.

I'm not even gonna go there.

Craig Owens writes the most beautiful lyrics I've ever heard.

I've been hiding in this bed for weeks from this
Throats raw from screaming, and I haven't said a word
    The sky is calling
And the stars, they point to this
To a chair, we see your breath in the air
But only for a little while
Your cold, pale skin and tainted purple lips
Let me embrace you with this kiss
And together we'll float like angels
Together...together we will float like angels

    In Love

Wil Francis is pretty amazing, as well. And of course, Bert McCracken. And Davey Havok. 'Nuff said. :file:

Whoever writes for Mayday Parade. I'm pretty sure they all collaborate.
And I'll be here by the ocean
Just waiting for proof that there's sunsets and silhouette dreams
All my sand castles fall like the ashes of cigarettes
And every wave drags me to sea
I could stand here for hours
Just to ask God the question, "Is everyone here make-believe?"
With a tear in His voice, He said, "Son, that's the question."
Does this deafening silence mean nothing to no one but me?

Patrick Stump. Not as well as Pete, but I still think he's pretty good.
What you do on your own time's just fine.
My imagination's much worse, I just never want to know.
What meant the world imploded, inflated then demoted
All my oxygen to product gas and suffocated my last chance.

You said, between your smiles and regrets: "Don't say it's over."
Dead and gone. Dead and gone.
Calm before the storm set it off, and the sun burnt out tonight.
A reception less than warm set it off, and the sun burnt out tonight.

I'm surprised no one's said Craig Owens or Anthony Green.

Edit: Nevermind. Haha. Someone just said Craig. He's pretty amazing. In Love

I can think of some better lyricists then Brad Arnold, singer/lyricist of 3 Doors Down, but I've loved this band for a long time and I think 'Kryptonite' is one of the best songs ever.
Brad wrote it when he was 11.

You called me strong, you called me weak,
But still your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times
    I never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head,
If not for me then you'd be dead
I picked you up and put you back
    On solid ground

If I go crazy then will you still
    Call me Superman
    If I’m alive and well,
Will you be there a-holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side
    With my superhuman might

The Maine: (I'm pretty sure they all write them...)
Surrounded by familiar faces, the people that you love to see
Where everybody knows your name, and they're smiling
We may not be gettin' younger, our days might be slippin' away
Yeah we're still so fucking young, so we'll party like it's our last day

And for the first time, I feel less alone
And for the first time, I can call this home

It's our last time, to say goodnight
Don't say goodbye, 'cause in the morning we'll,
    We'll see you around
And we'll sing it again, same time tomorrow, yeah we'll all join in.

    William Beckett, of course.

    If this is a test
    I’m losing my shit
Would it kill you to care
    as much as I did?
    If this is a test,
    I’m wasting my breath
    You’re a stranger I know well,
    and not at all.

Heart on a hook thrown out to the sea,
    your basement busy.
Sitting in the dark, I turn the radio off for a
    phone call you’ll likely miss.
    Wake me when it’s over.
    The last sound of goodbye.

    Amy MacDonald:

Mrs Black & White she’s never seen a shade of grey,
    Always something on her mind,
    Every single day.
But now she’s lost her way,
And where does she go from here?

Mr. Multicultural sees all that one can see,
He’s living proof of someone very different to me.
But now he wants to be free,
    Free so he can see.

And Justin Pierre (Motion City Soundtrack):

Betty can’t quit carving question marks in my wrist
    How come we’re so alone
We waste away the days with nicotine and television samples
From an era we hate to admit we embrace
    We fail to represent
    We fail to be content
We fail at everything we ever even try to attempt
    And so the story goes
    As only Betty knows
    It’s time to take control

    Jesse Lacey has my heart;

"...Well Jesus Christ, I'm alone again
So what did you do those three days you were dead?
Cause this problem's gonna last more than the weekend.

Well Jesus Christ, I'm not scared to die,
I'm a little bit scared of what comes after
Do I get the gold chariot?
Do I float through the ceiling?

Do I divide and fall apart?
Cause my pride is too sly to hold back all my dark
And the ship went down in sight of land
And at the gates does Thomas ask to see my hands..."

    - Jesus Christ by Brand New

    Brian,
    Top marks for not tryin'
So kind of you to bless us with your effortlessness
We're grateful and so strangely comforted

And I wonder are you puttin' us under
Cause we can't take our eyes off the t-shirt and ties combination
    Well see you later, innovator

Some want to kiss some want to kick you
There's not a net you couldn't slip through
Or at least that's the impression I get cause you're smooth and you're wet
And she's not aware yet but she's yours

    She'll be sayin' use me
    Show me the jacuzzi
I imagine that it's there on a plate
Your rendezvous rate means that you'll never be frightened to make them wait for a while
I doubt it's your style not to get what you set out to acquire
    The eyes are on fire
    You are the unforecasted storm

    (Brian)
    Calm, collected, and commandin'
    (Top marks for not tryin')
You made the other stories standin'
    With your renditions and jokes
Bet there's hundreds of blokes that have wept cause you've stolen their ...thunder
    Are you puttin' us under

Cause we can't take our eyes off the t-shirt and ties combination
    Well see you later, innovator

    D is for Dangerous

And try and keep your trousers on
I think you should know you're his favourite worst nightmare
    D is for...

Desperately trying to stimulate what it was that was alright
3 quarters of an hour ago
That had led him to be in a position
    And every compromission

    Fuck You, I'm Beautiful.
    But it's unconvincing:
    my heart must have earplugs.
    I'm bleeding and bleeding
    You're the one I am needing;
and this drug of a dream
    takes me over
    this drug of a dream.

    Last night we went flying:
    we flew through an ocean
and we danced in the waves.
    it was amazing.
    it was amazing.
    it was amazing.

and I smashed my alarm clock against the wall:
    I smashed it
    I smashed it
    I smashed it
    I smashed it

Now when she left me on the floor
She knew I'd follow her right out that door
She'd always leave you craving more
Just the addiction I've been waiting for

She made the music come to life
Staring me down with those electric eyes
And when she said 'Your place or mine?'
I was delirious, I could not resist to save my life

Jon Foreman of Switchfoot. His lyrics are absolutely beautiful.

In this world of news, I've found nothing new
    I've found nothing pure
Maybe I'm just idealistic to assume that truth
Could be fact and form, that love could be a verb
Maybe I'm just a little misinformed

    - -
Let your love be strong, and I don't care what goes down
Let your love be strong enough to weather through the thunder cloud
Fury and thunder clap like stealing the fire from your eyes
All of my world hanging on your love.

Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day.

    She's an extraordinary girl
    In an ordinary world
And she can't seem to get away.

He lacks the courage in his mind
    Like a child left behind
Like a pet left in the rain.

    She's all alone again
Wiping the tears from her eyes
    Someday's he feels like dying
She gets so sick of crying.

    And of David Cook.

Lost her way from everything she swore she knew, a friend
Run away from start to finish though it never ends
In her mind she is blinded by all she sees
Close your eyes; just pretend the bullet isn't there
No surprise; no need to pretend that no one really even cares
But in her eyes you will find the very best in me.

    What are you looking for?
Are you looking for something more?
    It's not me,
    It's not me.
