I'm not ashamed to say it, yes I'm still a virgin and I don't mind being one and I'm a senior now, but I know that the world has changed and children (boys and girls) are losing it at a young age now. Why is that? Is it peer pressure? I know Mibba is pretty much made up of teenage girls, but still what do you guys think?
I don't think it's necessarily peer pressure, but it has to do with society and the media. Once people start getting serious, they think they have to take things to the next level to prove that they're serious. They just keep taking it to the next level until there's only one thing left to do.

But it's not really the fact that everybody's doing it. It's more just because that's what they've seen... that's what they think they're supposed to do when they're in love.

Edit: Oh yeah. And I'm not a virgin. I like how people who are virgins are 'not ashamed' to say it... but those of us that aren't.... hm. Well, for example, I've told two people in RL this fact. Both of them look down on me for it. But on Mibba, I can tell you guys anything... and I don't have to look at the disappointment in your face. And I'd also like to say I'm proud of those of you who've committed yourselves to waiting. You guys are my heroes.

I'm not a virgin, but I wasn't one of those girls who lost it at a young age. I was 17, almost 18, and I already saw myself as an adult.

However, I did not see my virginity as something sacred. It was special, but to me it is just sex, and like everything - there's a first time for it.

Physically, I think it's a lot easier for guys to lose their virginity because they don't have to worry about it 'hurting'. But emotionally, I think it can be nerve-racking for both sexes.

^ I have to say (like for you, it's obviously different, cos you felt ready :)) but I'm 17 and I consider myself an adult, and I'm told I'm mature, but theres no way I'm ready for sex yet. It would be at least a few years until I do have sex, I think, because I want to know the person really well and have been with them for a long time before I take that step.

I agree about the last sentence you said. It's so true. It does seem 'easier' for guys to lose their virginity. And I guess, I'll admit, I'm scared of sex hurting for the first time, lol.

That's exactly what I think. The media often portrays sex as something that you're just supposed to do when you're in a "serious" relationship. It presents a bunch of unlikely scenarios and emotion that, more likely than not, do not exist when the participants are so unprepared. It really never shows when things go wrong, when sometimes, a life can change completely in a direction it didn't want to go.

For me, there's no question that I'm going to wait until I'm happily married. It's just the way I've been raised, and it's a promise that I've already made. So no going back. =P

I used to have a friend that lost her virginity at age twelve, with her 'boyfriend'. He was like, seventeen years old and they broke up later on. Then she became the gidoune de la ville, as in slut of the city. She's slept with more guys than anyone in the city.

Let me just say . . . she acted like she wasn't proud of it, but she thought otherwise. I told her all my advice, tried to help her but then suddenly she was pregnant!

It was bound to happen . . .
She couldn't get an abortion, and ended up choosing suicide.

    Virgin? Me? Yeah, so?
I'm proud of it; nobody notices me anyway! And even if I were noticed, I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't let go of something so precious . . .
    No

    ^ Your virginity is precious.
It's not just something you give away to just anyone.

I'm a virgin and so is my boyfriend. There are plenty of other ways to show your partner how much you love them. We've decided to wait.

I agree. They always tend to publicize one-nightstands. Are they really that common, or is it just something that the media loves to stick in their movies?

^^Things become cliche because they happen often. Much like how stereotypes are based on reality.

They are, unfortunately, more common than you might think.

Well I don't know if it's peer pressure or something else.
Some people say it's just the generation of today.

Anyway, one of my best friends lost it when she was 9. Shocking, huh?

I still haven't lost mine and don't plan on doing it in some years.

I guess the people that want to do it, just do it. And sometimes they don't think.

    Or they do... Haha
Losing the virginity at the age of 9?
i mean, 12 is young too but 9..woah.. Did she have a boyfriend?

I have read that an actor (Of course I forgot his name Disgust ) lost his virginity at the age of 8.. I thought he was joking.. nope he wasn't.

    ^^Woah!!! 8 and 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O

Omg! that is seriously freakin' scary!

I'm gonna lose mine when I'm ready and with someone I love and trust if that day is when I'm 16 or 106 so be it. (but I don't think I would actually physically be able to have sex when I'm 106 haha)

One night stands are so common, it's not even funny. I would go so far as to say it is a part of our culture, especially amongst younger people. I'm talking about people around my age, young adults - not highschool children. But they are still very common, in my experience...

I think people really feel pushed into it these days. Wait for someone special. Not a two minute fling.

No No, it wasn't a boyfriend. It was a guy she liked.
They don't talk anymore. They actually hate each other now.

But I mean, I guess at the age of 9, you're pretty much blind.

With 9 you are still a kid, even with 10 or sometimes 11.
This is really hard to imagine.. I mean she is younger than my cousin.. :lmfao, sorry if I am laughing but it is so unbelieveable.

i am wondering how this will be in like 10 or 20 years.. when we and the younger generation have kids.
Do they have sex at the age of 6 or are they going to be born without virginity *sarcasm* :file:

My best friend Joe isn't a virgin. His 14. His girlfriend has only been 13 for two months when they had sex. He is obsessed with it. I was sleeping over with a load of other friends at their house and she gave him a blow job with everyone else in the room.
    That's just wrong.

My other best friend Liddy isn't a virgin either. She was 13, nearly 14 at the time. Her boyfriend apparently wasn't very good at it so she never had a proper orgasm so Joe tried to finger her when she didn't want him to.
    That just wrong too.

    Liddy regrets it.
Joe is totally obsessed with it.
And makes sarcastic comments about my virginity the whole time.
I told him I was perfectly happy not being a slag.
    He wasn't happy.
But really, come on. I'm 14. I'm not just going to jump into bed with the first horny bastard that'll screw me. I'm going to wait for someone I actually care about and it won't be someone totally obsessed with it (like Joe).

    Jeez.

    And, for the younger kids,
they say 'I don't understand why everyone is having sex. I'm waiting until I'm at least 16.'

16 is still not old! It's still very young and you think it'd be amazing to wait until then, at least?

It's sad how teenagers do not have a clue, honestly!
and i know im a teenager too, but its true.
I never said I wanted to have sex at 16 I said I was waiting until I was 16 and I'm with someone I trust and care about. Waiting until marriage isn't realistic these days and I don't plan on doing that unless I don't find anyone.

Like I said before I'm waiting until marriage. I'm 12, almost 13. I have my whole life ahead of me. But I'm not fucking some person who I know won't be around til death. Cause we don't divorce in my family. So marriage is how it's gonna be. And it would be that way even if I wasn't a Christian.

It's a hard life these days being a virgin at my age of 19. The People at my school look at me funny.
It puts doubts in my head but really I'm so much happier then they are because I don't have that weighing on my heart
