I completely agree with you that kids these days feel some sort of weird need to not be virgins.
It's like they want to be considered cool by sleeping around, drinking too much, doing drugs... They should understand that's not cool, that's self harm. But oh well...

That's how I lost mine. At age 13, I had such a hard time with myself, and cutting and losing virginity had to do with it.

I just wanted to fit in.

It does bother me, because sometimes girls that have done that way more than I have call me things like that.
Then I do this:

I am one.
I haven't been peer pressured to do it. I talk to my mother about it because she's really close to me (she was a teen mom) and she thinks it's good I didn't give in to peer pressure. My friends don't tease me about it either; they don't treat me any differently.

But they accept that I don't need to know explicit details of their sex lives---it's not my place and there's a mutual understanding there.

I just don't feel as if I'm ready to be in any relationship, let alone engage in anything further.

Definitely. We talk pretty openly about things so they know I'm not the type to give in to pressure like that, and they don't exclude me if there's a joke that's crude / sexual.

Just because I'm inexperienced doesn't mean I'm clueless about anatomy, you know? It's frustrating when people say "you can't joke around like that if you haven't done x / y / z." But if I don't appreciate the humor, they classify me in the "oh look at her what a prude---she thinks she's better than us." NOnoNO.

I've actually been harassed for being a virgin which I think is ridiculous. I'm Catholic but if I think it's right I would before marriage.

People think that being a virgin makes one clueless about sex but that's not true. On my first time (with a guy) I was anything but clueless, he thought I had done it (with guys) before. Just gotta watch all the right porn

You want to hear something really crazy?

I'm a 23 year old virgin. But I'm also asexual, so that explains a lot. I have almost zero interest in having sex. I'm attracted to men, but I don't want to have sex with them (or with girls for that matter) if that makes any sense.

Interestingly enough, though my sex drive is almost non existent, I have a very filthy, dirty mind and I frequently laugh at vulgar sex jokes.
