Some of us only have a few stories, while some of us have loads. At the last count, I had....well...over 5, anyway. I, personally, think I have a lot. But compared to some I have basically none. :tehe:

How many stories do you think is ideal? Or should it not matter? Do you think it's better to have a lot of stories?

I think quality over quantity applies here.

But then again, some people seem to be able to rattle off reams of stories without sacrificing the quality of that which they write. Guess it depends on the person, really.

I think you should only post multiple stories if they are all good quality (like said above) and you can update them all regularly.
I can't do more than two stories at a time, because I can never focus on one long enough to get an update out. But then again, updating is a weakness of mine even with one story. :tehe:

Hmm, well for me, I like to have to keep up with as little amounts of stories as possible. I remember when I first came on here, I had about 4 stories going at once, and it was really difficult to update all of them. So now, I've went down to only one.
But as long as the author is capable of updating each of their stories, I don't think the amount of stories they have really matters.
But just with me, it's hard enough to keep up with one.

I have a lot of stories. I do my best to keep them all active as best as I can.

I think more is better, because if you find an author and you like their style, you can go through and find tons of reading from that same author. Author's with only one story, I find it annoying. Well, in a good way, if you know what I mean. It's like, I wanna see more from their imagination, but I can't, cause they only have one story up and in-progress.

I write a lot of stories because I'm constantly coming up with plots, endings and beginnings. lol.

^ I know what you mean.
I think of at least 3 new ideas each day, even when I don't mean to. I usually have to try and find the time to write everything down so I don't forget it all, but that doesn't always mean that I'll immediately start working on them, y'know?

And I also understand when you say that you like when people write more than one story so you can get an idea of their writing style.
I wish I could keep up with more than one story, but as of now, one is more than enough. Haha. ^_^

The quantity of stories you have doesn't really matter. If you get loads of inpirations, plots, then you write about it and post.

I have only a few because, recently, I've been having trouble translating my ideas into words. Whenever I do, though, they either turn out crappy [ for me }, or I never get it done. And, I'm pretty damn busy, too.

I like an author who has a lot of stories, and the quality of their stories are great, and they improve. I think that is quite an ideal author; that's the kind of author I want to be someday.

I try to have only three of four running at a time, otherwise I get really overwhelmed and it bums me out and I really can't write.
I don't care about quantity, quality is more important. At least when I'm writing, anyway.
But there's also some authors who can write 7 million really decent stories at the same time.

I don't have enough time to write one as it is! I used to have a few on the go at once, but they were either left unfinished, or completely rubbish.

If you have the time then by all means have a few, but I think it'll just make you stressy.

I think if they're well-written, than it doesn't really matter how many you have.

I have about 10 active chaptered fics at the moment, three of which I'm stuck with and don't like that much anymore, but I like my others.

I have 153 total stories, not including individual drabbles which brings it up to over 200.

That's pulling from the middle of 2005 on. I posted the majority of everything I'd written since then [when I started Green Day], with the exceptions of a few I wasn't proud of and a few My Chem fics that never got finished.

And I don't think the quality of my work suffers because of that. If you start from the beginning and work your way forward, you definitely see that my quality of writing has improved in three years [which is the way it should be].

I don't think it really matters- as long as they're improving and their work is good.
'Cause someone shouldn't write until a certain number of stories and then just stop because it seemed like a lot and whatnot.
They should just continue writing as long as that is what they like to do.

I currently have nine stories all written this year. I write on average one story per month/three weeks. I have an other set of short stories written before Mibba and I will most probably never post them here. And around 50 short drabbles and sketches that I'm also never going to post. I'm a really lazy person you see, I get a lot of story ideas but I can't be bothered to write most.
Mainly because I'm lazy and I find no point in reading something that I already know. I'd rather read or imagine a story than write it. Actually I write stories only if I want someone -it's always a certain person- to read them.

I don't stress much about writing. I'm 16, I'm not even supposed to write much because in 5 years I'll probably find everything I write now puerile and naive. -shrug- I'll keep the 400 pages novel for when I'm 50.

Oh and I really can't stand chaptered stories and updating. I can't be sure about something for long enough to write them for once, and then the updating makes them look like soap operas. I mean there are some great multi-chaptered stories here but most times I really don't have the patience to wait for an update every two or three weeks so I'll just abandon the story. I'm a mean person like that. ^__^

I believe it's good to have a lot of stories period. It can also help the writer pen point problems that may need fixing.

I think it's also good for the reader if an author has more than one chaptered story; that way, they can read the author's other work if they want to, whilst waiting for updates.

I get bored of my stories quite often, so I have about 13-14 chaptered stories all up.

It's good in a way, because I can shift between them when updating, and when I'm in different moods I feel like updating different stories.

I praise and look up to anyone who can post more than one story at a time, and is able to keep updates regular and the quality decent. Unfortunately for me, I can't post up more than one story at a time. One shots, but not two full-blown stories.
