I probably shouldn't be reading about this guy at 12:42AM and then go to bed, I'm going to have nightmares.

A couple days ago I say a preview for a movie on the history channel called Manson. Had absolutely no idea that it was real. :|

Until I overheard my mother talking about it to her friend, I was already intrigued and planned on watching the movie. But once I heard the things my mother and her friend where saying I knew that there was no possible way I was going to get away watching it on the only TV in the house. Smack dab in the middle of the house.

I really at that point still had no idea what he did except for the slight commercial on the TV and my mother telling my sister when she asked what he did, "Really bad things, lets leave it at that."

So, like any teenager it was Internet time. ;)

And I have to say I'm slightly disappointed my mother and her friend made it sound like he was the worst possible human being on the planet (Next to Hitler).

I'm not at all saying that what he did, wasn't bad, from what I read he was a very intelligent serial killer who made sure his Family had the blood on their hands.

But the thing that really sickens me is that there are people out in the world, who are hoping Charlie and his Family are going to be released from prison.

    And that is terrifying.

    Manson.
    History Television:
This fascinating new docu-drama takes viewers deep inside a twisted world of hate, fear, sexual transgression and mind-control, Manson tells the story of how one man transformed a harmless group of hippies into a gang of brutal murderers.

Featuring the first ever in depth interview with the ‘Family’s’ getaway driver Linda Kasabian, high end drama and rare archive, this feature length film chronicles the final days leading up to the notorious 1969 Tate/La Bianca murders.

I watched this the other night, it was incredible. They showed some real footage mixed with the staged stuff.

He was a monster. One of the most unpleasant people I've ever come across in my various researches.
The whole Tate murder, it was horrifying. It makes me sad and sick inside.
Even so, I do agree on the fact murderers will always exercise an unknown attraction on the masses.

Had anyone seen Live Freaky Die Freaky it's loosely based on his life? I think his family is interesting! and Manson makes me laugh!
Do you mean "loosely based on" or actually loosely based on?
Because like, a lot of movies say to be loosely based on peoples' lives, when they're really not. Like, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is apparently based on Ed Gein, but it's so loose, there's barely even a connection...

It's actually rather based on the true story...
But it's all just fucked up!
The basics are there: the family, drugs, sex, the murders...

But everything is made VERY freaky.
    VERY.

I haven't seen the whole movie though...

I'm re-reading Helter Skelter again - I can read all of that and not be bothered, except for the part about what Susan said to Sharon when she was stabbing her and Tate was pleading for her baby. That just made me sob Cry

I do agree though, that Charles was a very intelligent man, what with his IQ rising from 109 to 121 in the space of a couple of years, as well as his planning etc. Yes, what he thought and planned out led to sick and disgusting actions, at the same time, he was obviousl intelligent enough to make people have such faith in him in order for them to execute his plans, y'know?

I only find Charles Manson interesting because he was somehow able to convince so many people that what he was doing was right. It blows my mind how one man could make so many people think the exact same, insane thing.

And I read that he gets so many letters in prison from people wanting to join the Family. Even now. That's fucking crazy.

    It sure is!

    Humans are so fascinating...
Manson created a "Family" trough his manipulation.

    Ever heard of Jonestown?
That's one fucked up story too!
    Mass suicide... crazy...

I don't remember why, but I read up on him a little bit several months ago. I think it was because my dad said the Charles Manson murders were inspired by the White Album, and I didn't know what he was talking about so I went to research it.

What I found horrified me. Apparently, when he was a teenager, he sodomized another boy while holding a razor blade to his throat. And when he was a small child, his mother tried to sell him for a pint of beer.

Yeah, he probably was intelligent. But I don't think the thing that gave him the ability to get those people to follow him was intelligence in the usual sense of the word, but charisma.

Manson was a great movie. Some of the things sent chills down my spine as I was watching it.

I find him quite interesting. He obviously has lots of charisma and intelligence, but he is such a sick guy with a sick life. That is probably what makes him so interesting, though, even though what he did was absolutely repulsive. Glad he's locked up. That's for sure.

Maybe I'll do some more research on him one day if I feel like it. He's quite interesting, even though the things he did are downright sick.

I share a birthday with Manson.

I find it strange that no one has mentioned Manson's connection with The Beach Boys. Honestly, that's the part of the Manson Saga I find most interesting.

Usually, I'm shunned for admitting that I like Manson's music from his music career. I love the song Look At Your Game Girl. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I don't really agree with the Tate family trying to get Guns N' Roses to remove their cover of Manson's song from their album. I understand how absolutely heartbroken the Tate family is. I have full sympathy for them all, I do. Absolutely. But, I don't think Manson's music has to be associated with his Family. His music never did anything terrible--it's music. It's not egging people to kill or join his Family. Axl Rose, of Guns N' Roses, released a statement in the middle of the lawsuits stating that, no, he didn't support Manson but he was able to appreciate a good song when he heard one. Kudos to you, Mr. Rose. Though Rose was, in the early 90's, often seen wearing Manson attire.

    one of Charles Manson's Son.

I honestly think that he was not born evil, that if he had grown up in better circumstances he would not have ended up the way he was. His mother was young when she had him, and his father was presumably black. Both of these facts caused people in school to look down upon him. He went to a Catholic school where he was probably treated differently because of who his parents were, and beaten severely. His happiest childhood memory is his mother coming home from jail. His first crime was stealing food from a store, because he needed food to eat. In the first "jail" he was put in he was raped by the prison guards (his first sexual experience). His first real serious crime was that he raped an inmate with a knife to his neck. I wonder where he got that idea?

I'm not saying that what he did was justified, or right in any way. I'm just saying that there were other monsters out there who were getting paid for what they did, and were really screwing up this child's life. If he had grown up differently, I'm sure he would not have done the things he did.
