I had never heard the father thing and I looked into him and it said his father is Colonel Walker Scott, according to his mother. That man is not black. I get the feeling that may have gotten started to explain away his racism.

    A quote from Wikipedia:
"Several statements in Manson's 1951 case file from the seven months he would later spend at the National Training School for Boys in Washington, D.C., allude to the possibility that "Colonel Scott" was African American.[2]:555 These include the first two sentences of his family background section, which read: "Father: unknown. He is alleged to have been a colored cook by the name of Scott, with whom Charles's mother had been promiscuous at the time of pregnancy." When asked about these official records by attorney Vincent Bugliosi in 1971, Manson emphatically denied that his biological father had African American ancestry. In addition, the 1920 and 1930 Census list Colonel Scot and his father as white."

So, there you go. I did not make up any of my information.

Oh I wasn't suggesting YOU made it up. Sorry for the confusion. I meant it may have been suggested as a reason to explain it A LONG time ago. A lot of information gets started and passed on that way.

I was just surprised because I'd never heard it before.

I was watching something about the Manson murders last night, and had to explain to my 15-year-old sister what happened and who he was/is. To my surprise, he's still alive. I thought he had died a few years back, but I guess I was wrong.

    @ redhead deadhead.
I thought he had passed away too, I watched something on him the other day how he was supposedly mailing this teacher, was kind of shocked... everyone I know talks about him like he IS dead, so I always just assumed.

I'm really obsessed with Manson. Especially since most of the death he caused wasn't via his own hands

My best friend's Uncle (or great-Uncle?) was his cell-guard in prison.

Other than that, I find the Manson story to be absolutely interesting. It's crazy how one man has power to manipulate others into killing for him.
