How Do You Like Your Nails?

So I saw the "How Do You Like Your Eyebrows" thread and I figured I should start this one.

Girls around my school get fake nails a lot. Mainly French manicures. I hear the glue is bad for your fingernails, but I suppose nail polish is bad for your nails as well, if you don't get Butter London (all natural) like I do.

Other girls (like me) do it the artsy way and paint their own nails with interesting designs. I've done anything from white with black pinstripes to a "Gothic" French manicure (red with black tips) to turquoise with a barbed wire design to black and white polka dots, just using my imagination and a brush.

Some girls just like one color of nailpolish with no designs. At the beginning of the school year I saw a lot of black, but it merged into pink somehow.

And some girls just like to leave their nails plain.

What do you do with your nails?

Haha I get cheap nail polish and Butter London, which is all natural and won't murder your nails' health. However, I tend to use the cheap stuff more haha. I don't necessarily use special things to design them though. I do it with the regular-sized brushes.

I do have the cuticle massage cream though.

I mostly have a neutral kind of color on my nails; like simply transparent or pearl-ish or creamish white / pink.
But then I also like to go for either red or bright pink or black from time to time.
Those are the only colors I'd ever paint on my nails, anyways.

I like 'em long but keep 'em short, because I work with horses and people and food a lot so I have to look the hygiene there.

When I paint 'em; I always do all ten of my nails in the same color. I don't think it looks nice when someone has their nails painted in a gazillion different colour; varying from nail to nail. I don't quite get what's up with that.

Right now; I've got a creamish white color on my nails and my toenails are brightly red.

They are always usually black or red, nothing too fancy.

I'd rather have my nails all the one colour and neat and tidy.
Sometimes they can get too busy and look silly.

I never paint my nails different colors on each nails. I have the same colors/style on each fingernail. I just design each one the same with the same colors, but never too crazy. Just something to give it a little "bling". Pinstripes, designs, small picturesque type things.

Then they chip within a day of me painting them or I'll start to pick it off or something. XD

I get 99 cent NYC junk that lasts longer than that.
Beware of Hot Topic nail polish. It's terrible.

Well you can keep your nails long, shape them with a file, and use a toothpick, a long-bristled scrub brush, or one of those nail cleaners that come on nail clippers to keep them clean.

Painting nails takes practice. I used to be awful at it.

That's true. But keeping them short is just so much less work.
I'm a lazy person when it comes to my nails. :XD

^ I don't anything to my nails, and they're long and healthy. It's really easy to keep them long. I'm super lazy- I don't even cut them.

My nails have a pretty okay shape naturally, so I just trim them. I love having really bright, obnoxious colors on my nails. Right now my toes are electric blue, and I'm probably painting my nails today.
I don't really do intriciate designs cause I fail at keeping my hands steady, and I don't mind a sloppy, chipped look that happens when I paint my own nails. I like that more than the uber manicured look.

I keep my nails really short, except for the thumb nails. They're not much longer, but long enough that I can use them to scrape things.
Useful for stickers.

I used to do a coat of clear polish, and then draw over that with fineliner. But it took forever to do and by the end of the week it'd be smudged.

Nowadays I'm too lazy to do my nails, but whenever I do, I use a clear polish with silver sparkles in it. You do enough coats, and you it looks like your nails and made of glitter. :cute:

I have to cut my nails relatively short to play guitar and piano. Which sucks. :grr:

But I shape them and keep them moisturized. And push my cuticles back regularly. When I paint my nails I often use nail stencils to put patterns on them.
At the moment they are zebra striped. :XD

That's why I keep mine short.

Nail stencils never work for me, it always bleeds.

Well mine are medium-ish length but I love having chipped nail polish on. Most of the girls at school have fake nails, I think it looks trashy. It's annoying at school you're alowed to wear fake nails but not nail polish. Not cool!
