Ned Kelly because the story makes me think so hard... villain or hero, terrorist or freedom fighter, revolutionary or common outlaw? And Dan Kelly because, well, if Ned had've listened to him then history could have been so, so different.
Ned In Love I have a lot of faves because I'm a history nerd. :XD :XD
But yeah, he's always facinated me. I really think he was a hero. It's a matter of opinion, but my opinion is that he was a hero. He did bad things to bad people who probably deserved it. He stood up to crooked cops and I really respect that.

Robespierre. Because he was basically the instigator of the French Revolution. Yeah, he kinda got out of control and couldn't kill himself properly, but in the beginning, he was fighting for the people.

Personally, my favourite historical figure is Oscar Wilde, for his writing and wit.
    I concur.
His life story is particularly interesting, too.
    He's my favorite writer.

John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester, some of his poetry is really good...some of it is really shocking 0.0 an incredibly interesting man, too.

and Mark Twain, I read The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer in third grade, and did a report on him in fourth grade, and it's stuck with me.

Anastasia - I really like Russia and the movie kind of helped (I know it's not real but it's still interesting) and she just influenced my interest in Russia
Walt Disney - he created Disney and when he made it, it was amazing!

-Thomas Jefferson--I think he had a lot of great ideals and a thirst for knowledge that I admire so greatly (the guy taught himself Spanish on a two-month trip to Italy--the whole of it!). He also believed that humans could think past their bias using reason. When he went out of office, he left the country in surplus although he himself was in debt. Only downsides are he owned slaves (though he freed them all in his will) and he carried on "relations" with one of his slaves, Sally Hemings, even though he was married. I don't believe if it was ever determined if he just ordered her into the "affair" so to speak or if she was willing.

As a Jefferson fan, I probably shouldn't admit this, but I also quite like Alexander Hamilton. Mainly because I would like to see the two of them locked in a room for 24 hours just to see which one would survive, lmao.

Oh, oh! And George Washington! Him too!

-Theodore Roosevelt--I admire his drive and love for country. Once, during a coal miners' protest, he visited the coal mine's manager and found the man so incompetent that he threatened, should the manager not straighten out the mess at his mind, Roosevelt would throw him out a window. Roosevelt was a man who got things done and didn't take anyone's crap. :)

Same reason I also admire Ronald Reagan.

I also admire JFK, his brother Bobby, and John Lennon for their ideals and belief in change and unity.

Aaaannndddd Elizabeth I of England. Even though she cut off peoples' hands for speaking out against her (I was so disappointed to find that out). She was gutsy and proved that a woman could lead just as well as any man could--better in fact, when compared to her father Henry VIII. So you go, Queen Bess.

I personally do not see how Hitler is the least bit interesting. Now Anne Frank is a different story. But Hitler is just confusing. He hated Jews, yet his own mother was Jew. He doesn't get any weirder than that.

So, my favorite person would have to be... Abraham Lincoln is one. For what he did for the african americans in his time. He was a very insperational figure in history and still is in my opinion.

Anne Frank a brave young soul she was. She went through hell. Her story is definitely very interesting.

I can't think of anyone else at the moment. But if I do I shall return.

I have a theory about that, albeit an outlandish one. I think Hitler may have suffered from a mild form of split personality disorder. Most people who develop split personality disorder do so because they do not want to endure their suffering; by creating a new personality, the personality endures it but the actual person feels as though s/he does not. S/he may have memories of the suffering through the personality's perspective, but as far as they're concerned, it happend strictly to the personality. Hitler was raised in a Jewish household and yet he hated Jews. He believed in a ultimate race in which blond hair and blue eyes were perfect, but he himself had brown hair and brown eyes. He envisioned Germany as the most powerful nation on Earth, yet he was from Austria (note, though, that his ancestors were from Bavaria, which is a state in Germany). I think Hitler hated himself for whatever reason (perhaps he thought of himself as weak or ugly), and he hated himiself so much that he actually created a personality in which he could be what he considered stronger and better. Either a mild case of split personality disorder or a strong case of borderline personality disorder (which I think he was actually diagnosed with).

Whatever the reason, he was a sick, terrible person. I remember the one subject I dredded studying in school was the Holocaust because it gave me horrible nightmares every year we studied it in History. I do have to agree with the people who are saying they don't understand how some people find him interesting. He makes me sick. People and things that make me sick don't interest me much. But then, that's just me.

Finally, people who agree with me that Hitler is interesting. I tell people that Hitler is fascinating, and they think I'm a fucking Nazi.
I get that Disgust It's like 'Hello! he's fucking interesting!'
People think I'm batty when I tell them how much I love reading about serial killers.
I don't think Hitler was that interesting as a person or that his mentality was.
He just killed many people. And we find that interesting.
    ^____________^

    Gaspard Ulliel.:
So what? He did it so brutally and on such a large scale.
Some people just find him interesting. Not just what he did, but why and whatnot.
Stalin killed a lot more people.
    ^_^
I just think it's immature to get all ''woaahh...woaaahh'' when it comes to Hitler and to think the death of so many people is ''interesting''.
    : /
I think those two statements of yours, Andy, contradict themselves. You must find yourself immature, then, because originally, you counted yourself as part of the 'we' that finds Hitler's killing of many people interesting.

As for myself, I'm not quite decided on my favorite people in history.
I'd have to say that Edgar Allen Poe is definitely one of them. I've always liked Voltaire's quotes, but I can't say he's a favorite person as I don't know all that much about him. Charles Darwin has been a favorite as of late.

Not as favorite people, but the people I really find interesting are also Adolf Hitler and Charles Manson. It's not that they killed a bunch of people or their hatred of certain types of people, or their believed superiority over those hated people, but their genius. They put their intelligence to evil deeds, but that doesn't mean they didn't have it. I find the murders and genocide horrid and sickening, but I can't deny that the way they were able to do it and get away with it for so long, the way they orchestrated all of it so perfectly, the way they were able to brainwash their followers to do their will..somehow fascinating.
