I'm from California so therefore I must be from Hollywood and know a celeb and spend my days at the beach.
I have a friend who moved to Canada and America for 6 years, when she came back everyone at school was like "Have you been to Hollywood? Do you know anyone famous? Have you meet lots of famous people? No? How come??"

Granted we were 11 at the time, but it's still funny what people think.

American stereotypes. Especially ones targeted to African American and Hispanics, because I happen to be both. Every balck person loves friend chicken, Koolaid and grape soda. We shoot people and we all run fast because we're always running from the police. Or that Pueto Ricans never shower, or how EVERY Spanish person is Mexcian. Most stereotypes I find extremely degrading.

I'm Scottish, henceforth I am ginger, and spend my days running around a mountain chasing haggis with a kilt on. Oh, and I'm also constantly angry/drunk.

I don't know why, but that stereotype really irks me. Not so much the haggis part (I hate the stuff, for the record), but the constantly angry and drunk. I think the accent can sound kinda angry, but it really is annoying.

I'm English and we have so many stereotypes. I don't mind most of them - they're generally just funny, like how we all ride around in red buses past Big Ben and drink tea with the Queen.

I think the 'Brits abroad' get a really bad reputation though. Anyone who's been to a tacky resort in France or Spain probably stereotypes us all in a way that isn't strictly true. I wouldn't blame the world for assuming that all British people go on holiday to get drunk and shout and walk around in next-to-no clothes while showing off their sunburn because of the way even our own media portrays us. And yet, those people are definitely a minority. Facepalm

I come from the town where Johnny Walker originated, and when people find out it's like "OMGOMGOMGOMG WHISKEY, DO YOU KNOW...". I don't drink whiskey, it's stinking! xD

I'm Mexican so I have a mustache and wear a ridiculously oversized hat all the time. I also always carry a guitar and a gun when I'm driving my donkey to the town; which, by the way, has no pavement, has little convenience stores that sell piƱatas and beer, and has little cantinas with a lot of prostitutes.

Obviously there are no cities in Mexico. All of them are pueblos with no pavement and ranchos with cows and burros.

    yep.

Don't forget the racism and swearing! ;)

I come from a Scottish family, and none of them are anything like the "stereotypical Scot". XD

    I'm English.
    I was on Skype with an American who said;
"Wow! Do you have tea and crumpets at five o'clock every evening with the queen?!"

    To which I replied;
"No. Do you have McDonalds with Barack Obama?"

I'm American, so I apparently have a redneck accent, have no intelligence, am a Republican, and hate the rest of the world.

I'm American, so I'm a fatass redneck who eats McDonald's everyday. I'm also stupid and racist, and I hate everyone from the middle east. I also find comedy such as Larry The Cable Guy to be amusing. I drive around in my truck while eating a Big Mac and waving around my confederate flag.

I'm originally from New Jersey, so I apparently have a "New Jersey accent", though most confuse us with Staten Island an Rhode Island accents. And because I'm from New Jersey, I apparently have to be Italian and a cunt all the time. I apparently also go tanning all day long and view Snooki and the others of The Jersey Shore as idols. I apparently live in a three story mansion and my daddy pays for everything.

I'm from Nebraska so I live above Minnesota (that's Canada, a separate country, btw) and I don't have access to normal television shows or internet.

I live in Texas, so I have a ridiculous southern accent and I ride my horse everywhere. I also wear a silly hat and boots. All the time.
But I'm from California, so I surfed, lived next door to a movie star, and had a glorious tan from sitting on the beach every day.

I'm Hispanic so I'm either Mexican or Spanish [I'm neither of them]. I eat tacos everyday. My hobbies consist of robbing banks with my also Hispanic friends or transporting weed and cocaine to other countries.
And I must have somehow crossed the border, of course, to steal white people's jobs.
    Wow, I really hate stereotypes.

I'm from south-western Connecticut so I have the "Connecticut accent" & I must be rich as hell.
All the while, I must go to NYC every weekend because I have a "New York state of mind" to go along with all the half-breed dogs I dress up & carry around.

I personally find a lot of the stereotypes for Californians to be pretty funny. Some of them are just downright ridiculous, you can't help but laugh at them a little. Here are a few stereotypes I've heard...

-All Californians live near Los Angeles. People tend to have this extremely bizarre idea that there is nothing more to California besides L.A or they think every single city is an exact copy of L.A. .-.
    -We all smoke pot.
-We're all hippies and vegetarians that only eat organic food.
-We all know a celebrity personally and/or see a celebrity on a daily basis.
    -We've all been to Hollywood.
-We're lazy people who spend our days loafing around at the beach and never do any work.
    -We're all rich.
-All women are stick thin, tanned, blonde, and blue eyed. All men are tan, tall, and extremely muscular. (lol most Californians aren't like that at all)
-All Californians must be Caucasian or else they must be an illegal immigrant. (I seriously don't even know what to say to that)

I'm sure there's more but that's all that comes to mind right now. I've always found it funny how most California stereotypes center around L.A. Come on, people, there is more to this State than just Los Angeles. Coffee

As an American, we're apparently a bunch of fat, lazy, stupid rednecks. Yup.

I'm Fijian so I have to have dark skin, smile all the time, be a generally jovial person and lazy. Oh, and somewhat stupid with no ambition and a life goal of marrying the right man and having thousands of little babies.

Stupid, stupid stereotype I can't stand it.

I also can't stand the stereotype where people of colour are often used as maids/servants, assistants, mere means to an end in most movies, tv series, books out there and not as an actual person with potential to be a three dimensional character.
