Bed Head and Redken both make the best hairsprays. I don't use hairspray, but when I do, I go with one of those brands.

- I love curling my hair, and I prefer it to when my hair is straight, but it's a bitch to make stay. The hairspray I like to use is Aussie, but it doesn't seem to work too well. After maybe an hour it'll start to flatten.
What are good brands of hairspray that actually hold? And if there's something else that anyone else does when curling their hair, could you share some tips maybe? Thanks in advance.
Also, the proper way to curl hair is this:
- Apply a heat protectant to your hair. ALWAYS do this before using heat on your hair. Always. I cannot stress this enough.
- Grab the piece of hair you want to curl and run a comb through it to gain control
- Spray it with a small amount of hairspray
- Run your curling iron down it like a flatiron in order to warm the piece of hair up. This prepares it to be curled and will help the curl stay.
- Curl as usual, and then mist it with hairspray.
And voila! That should help it stay a little longer. Also, using a texturizing spray prior to curling will help the curl stay and give a little bit of natural wave to your hair.
Also, for the record, hairspray is not bad for your hair. Any type of repeated stress, such as curling, isn't good for your hair, but as long as take good care of it (don't touch your hair, deep condition once a week, brush it properly, etc.), using heat or styling products will not damage your hair. The only thing hairspray does is dry out your hair, as does heat, so just make sure you are diligent about keeping your hair moisturized.
