    Maybe you could try getting highlights in a golden tone? You could try cutting it to a shorter length. If you want to see what you look like with short hair, you can fake it with this.

    I want to change my style up, but I'm kind of short on money at the moment... ::blush: I want to look cute but not like I tried too hard. I'm 5' 3" ish, long dark brown hair, and I have tannish skin. Ideas would be super duper welcome!

    It sounds like you have enough hair to throw it up into a messy bun; those are always really cute! Especially when you do it with a sock/sponge. tehe A vintage makeup-style is cute for not looking like you're truly trying too; a simple cate eye (with no eyeshadow) with big lashes and glossed (but not colored) lips. I'd suggest actual eyeshadow colors but I'm not sure of you eye color. It's a drastic suggestion, and totally up to you, but cutting blunt bangs (if you don't already have them) looks great with long hair. Fashion-wise, depending on your weight (I won't ask) high waisted skirts with a long "Dress" to them would be cute and both casual or fancy depending on the type of shirt.

    I got a cream colored prom dress this year, with small golden flecks throughout and a patch of golden jewels on the side, but I'm not sure what color shoes to wear. The obvious answer would be gold, but I'm already deathly pale and I'm about 90% sure that it would wash out any and all color from my style for the night. Any suggestions on what color I should match with my dress then? Facepalm

    @ Astrid. Even though you say gold may wash you out, I think you should go ahead and see if they do? Because I get pretty pasty in the winter, and gold still looks nice on me. Just a nice warm gold, perhaps even a soft bronze-y color. If you are too undecided on that, maybe go for a soft pink color, and black is always a safety net.

    What's a good way to keep elaborate face make-up from running in hot weather?

    Unrelated, should I buy primer?

    @Usako

    Thank you, perhaps I will at least try golden shoes, I just don't own any. Facepalm

    @dru saves the songs

    Thank you, too. I'll certainly keep that one in mind as it would actually match my hair color.

    Also, whole face primer is a bit of a rip off. You can use a moisturizer, which you can often buy cheaper, to do the same exact thing. All whole face primer is is something damp (usually an oil of a sort) to adhere makeup to your face. Eyeshadow primer is a bit different though as it is usually dryer (to prevent creasing and running by eliminating oils) than whole face primer.

    As for keeping elaborate makeup on, This Is what Disney Princesses use to keep their makeup on in the Floridian heat/sweltering dresses. I've not tried it myself but I've heard it works wonders (the External Sites are actually selling it cheaper than Amazon, I'd check them out if you're into it).

    I suppose I'm more so asking everyones opinion than assistance but if anyone has any advice I'll gladly take it.

    I'm somewhat going through some self-confidence issues (who isn't?) and lately have been "dolling" myself up more than usual.

    I suppose my question is whether I look better with my natural hair/neutral makeup.

    Or if I should continue with more make up?

    Which do you prefer?

    Also, I've been debating doing something with my hair for a while, I've never dyed it before and have always been curious???

    I think they both look good. It just depend on the outfit. I only put on a lot of make-up, generally, when I'm getting all dolled up clothes-wise, too. You look good both ways.

    I think hair virgins, if they are unsure, should start out with highlights. It's a great way to see if you like it without committing to a whole new color.
