So, I think all jobs, no matter how cool, have a downside. Nothing too big, maybe, but there's always one.

I work in a cafe. It's good. The pay is good, the people I work with are nice and treat me good, etc, etc, but since our cafe is connected to a really, really expensive hotel, we have a lot of snobby people coming in, and they're just not very nice. One called me an idiot because I wasn't making her coffee fast enough.

We're also quite expensive, so I've been abused because of our prices before.
Also, one time an old lady came in and asked to use the toilet, and since she was all old and stuff, we said yeah, sure.

She was in there for 45 minutes, and after she left, I had to go in and make sure it was all clean and stuff.

Um yeah, there was shit smeared everywhere. On the walls, all over the toilet, on the floor, even under the mat and in one of the basins. It was so disgusting.
I didn't have to help clean it up, much, I was just the paper towel and rubber glove dispenser, but you get the point :tehe:

    SO YEAHH, downsides. Post 'um.

    ^Ew, that's disgusting :hand:
    >.> It must've been... urgh!

I work for my parents, and their business is industrial cleaning. It's actually not the cleaning bit that's the downside, it's the fact that the factories I work in are quite male dominated, and most of them are jerks and / or creeps. Like they will actually say weird and creepy things to you.

And sometimes the work is physically tiring. But the pros actually outweigh the cons, so I'm not going to complain too much

    That's rather disgusting actually.
My work is rather aggressive when it comes to shifts. They never put you down when you're available.
The other day I was sick and they refused to cover my shifts, told me to replace then myself, and come in that day with my medical certificate.
I was sick on a bloody nebulizer and could barely breathe. I'm pretty sure I can come to work with a medical certificate and replace my shifts.
I tried to replace my shifts, but in the end my step-mum rang up and told then how she was concerned about how they were treating me. They covered my shifts then.
I'm currently looking for a new job, because they just continually abuse me. -sigh-

    That's quite gross.

I have to peel a lot of potatoes, which is normally fine. The other week we had some proper mouldy things and they had slugs in the middle and everything! The guy I was working with had the huge one and he put it to the side, but it started to move! Because it was creeping him out, he took the knife and just slice it in half. I may have been close to tears.

And I've peeled off half my nail before. There was blood and it was just painful.

One time I was asked to do a ladies' bathroom check, and so I went in there with a broom and something similar happened, although it was just in the toilet. I just... ignored it and pretended I didn't see anything. >_> It was disgusting. omgno:

Because I work at McDonalds we get every type of customer imaginable. Especially bogans. And they treat you like dirt, but it's stupid because they're idiots and you know you're actually superior but you work as a McSlave so you can't be all "I'm superior". -_-

    I hacve a paperround.

I get rained on, I'm scared of snails, if it rains a little the streets overrun with them.
    Dogs attack me.
    People are rude to me.
    Chavs shout abuse at me.
The fact that damn trolley is so heavy.
People nailing their letterboxes shut then telling me off for not deleivering.

    Paperrounds are not fun

I have to wear these stupid shoes that have no grip on them and give me blisters, and I am forever slipping on hair that's on the floor.
Also, working seven hours without a lunch break kind of sucks. >_>

I work at Kohl's and what I don't like is having to stay late some nights. Sometimes I'm supposed to work until 10 and have had to stay until 11 to help clean up. It's pretty ridiculous sometimes especially if you have school the next day.

That's if your underage & don't have written permission from your parents, the local council and the management of the store itself.
Once you turn eighteen you can work past ten, though. Well, at Safeway you can. :shifty

In the spring, I'll be a lifeguard at the pool near my house. Im so exicted. I love to swim and I love being out in the sun. :cute:

I live in Arizona and if any of you live there, you would know what our summers are like. For those of you that don't theyre around 105- 115 degrees. Its horrible.
The downside of my job will be being out in the sun when its that hot. Disgust

I work at a pizza place. The downside I guess is that, since it is family owned and not a chain, my boss/owner can be a raging maniac if we don't get a lot of business and tends to take it out on me and the other employees. Also, the pay is shit, the customers tend to be assholes sometimes. And there's no such thing as a break, so when you are working an eight hour shift, you are working EIGHT HOURS, non-stop, on your feet. Its a killer sometimes. Not to mention I smell like pizza.

And my new job, which I haven't started yet but my boyfriend works there, the customers are apparently extremely rude and nasty

I used to work at Tim Hortons. One word, HORRIBLE. I had this creepy guy who wouldn't leave me alone, had to clean hair off the urinal all the time, rush as fast as I could to serve impatient people. I ended up wrecking my wrists for a few weeks from lifting coffee pots. I cut myself on a knife once, nearly got fired over wanting less hours, had to deal with the grossest stuff in the dishes, and always slipped on the wet floor because they never put the signs up. One time I took out two other workers and screwed up my elbow. Did I mention that since it's not unionized you only got two fifteen minute breaks for a 8 hour shift? And a bunch of other horrible stuff. Just... don't work there.

Now I work at the local library, and very few downsides. The bending and crouching can hurt the back and feet after a while, and it gets boring always putting stuff in alphabetical order or numerical order, but it's a ton better than what I had before.

I work at my station McDonald's. It's awesome, I get to see, and meet new people, from all around Sydney. I work to 10pm for some of my rostered shifts. -is casual-

    :shifty

Anyway, the downfall to my work, is doing Close aka closing the shop up, and trying to get out by 10pm. It's hard, disgusting, oily, slippery, wet, and crazy. You have to do certain chores in like 5 minutes.

But above that, I quite enjoy it.

I work at an ACE Hardware. Overall, I like my job for what it is because I get alone well with everyone there and I get flexible hours.

    Downsides:
    -minimal wage.
    -rude/mean customers.

Soooo it's not so bad. :)

For my job, it'd have to be some of the customers that come in. They're so rude. -frown-
