Absolutely anything, and everything. I get a lot of inspiration from conversations with my friends, and the things they say, and the stories they tell. A lot of every day things can add to tiny elements in stories. I use past experiences as well as they seem to make things sound much more realistic to me.

I like to venture away from normal things as well, and stretch my imagination a bit further.

My thoughts are my main inspiration, when I have a thought I like I listen to music thats focused on the mood of my story and it just flows. The only problem I have is finding the right words too piece it together and actually posting them on Mibba. *Sheepish smile*.

It often happens with good, original films. Donnie Darko really inspired me to write my current (and only) chaptered. I was just spilling it out after watching it. XD

Lately everything that I start has some element of fantasy in it. Like today I started a piece where Frank becomes a werewolf and the band has to help him deal with that. (It's really not as ridiculous as it sounds, I promise.)
It's mostly because I've been watching a lot of fantasy films. A lot of children ones.

I suppose, lately, a lot of what I'm feeling contributes to the tonality of what I write. I've been a bit... off lately, so if I have a good day I write a happy chapter. If it's an 'off' day, someone dies.

Plus, what I've read has an influence. None of the fantasy stories I imagine up from reading Harry Potter or similarly fantasial stories (ooh, a new word) ever make it to paper, let alone Mibba, however, if they did, they'd be so damn good! (Haw, I tried to be self-absorbed and a bit more 'me me me', but it's slightly obvious it's a load.)

A few of my stories do include real people and places that I've added twists too, then a few of them are things I've wished that would happen and dreams I've had. But for the most part I am ridiclously creative

To be honest, it all depends on me. Whenever I watch a movie, or see something interesting in the outside world, I often wonder: 'What if this particular thing would happen to me?'. From there, I start to build up on my ideas, finding other interesting and wonderful experiences to simulate and build up the story.

The fact that I can give my characters some weird trait of mine and then see where it takes them. I get to see how they react to the stupid, crazy, and down right horrid situations I put them in. I also write because it's an escape from reality.

Music, other books, and life are other general influences.

Lately I've been trying out new things to write about.
My latest is based around one of the two main characters being blind, which is something I never thought I'd write. It's taking an awful lot of research and I'm writing it much, much slower than I normally would because I really want it to turn out well.
I generally spend more time doing all the research for it than I do actually writing the fic itself.
However, I am growing to love writing it, because it's so different to my usual lovey-dovey rubbish, it makes a nice change, I hope.

I write about things that interest me - not things than I've necessarily come into contact with personally. One of my new stories is about someone with a speech impediment or stutter. I find the concept interesting because I've never really known anyone who suffered from something like that and I'm interested in experimenting with how I think they would feel, how I think they will act etc. Of course there is a lot of research involved but the topic really captures my interest so I don't mind.

Prompt tables, postsecret.com and the writing contests on Mibba are all great ways to boost your inspiration.
