I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I lived there all of my life except right after Katrina when everybody scattered. It's a relatively really small and close knit city. It only takes about 30 minutes to drive from one corner of the city to the other. Each block is relatively small.

I love my city, it's home. It's all I've ever known. The people are very polite and the culture is rich. The food is to die for, unless you're allergic to shellfish. There's music literally everywhere. The downside, the steadily rising crime rates. Can't tell you how many bodies I've seen. But they don't show you that in the brochures.

My home town is really small, but I definitely wouldn't call it rural at all. I live in the town next to it, now, and they're basically the same town, different mayors.
It's boring, but quite safe. There are a few stores in it, and there is a town about fifteen minutes away with all the stores you'd ever need.

What's your hometown like? It's hot as hell here during the summer. I live in a desert, and it's hard to do anything when you get sticky and sweaty. :c However, there are good things here like the Grand Canyon.
Do you like it? Do you hate it? I'm in between. Sometimes I like it, other times I hate it. ><
What are the upsides? What are the downsides? As said in the first question, we have the Grand Canyon, and we also get some cold weather still too. The only downside is the heat and lack of snow. :c

I was actually born and raised in Maine until about thirteen or fourteen. We moved to Arizona because my dad has arthritis, and he figured the climate here would be a lot better. It is in most cases, but when it gets cold or rainy... he tends to get flare-ups still.

My hometown has a bad rep but surrounding areas are renowned for their convenient and pleasant mix of woodland, parkland, agricultural or open fields and close proximity to shops and necessities.

The town is currently undergoing a huge regeneration which is reported to value between £200-750 million (sources differ). Although there is plenty of construction work occurring within and many shops are closed, some shops remain open which allows residents to continue to shop or visit the opticians/pharmacy/dentist as usual. Let's hope that the regeneration of our town will bring it and its people a higher reputation. They are introducing lots of new, trendy architecture and shops so I support this project fully.

i was born and now live in Gosnell Arkansas. A small town and way too calm here. Yet I have NO friends here. Yet my family is here.

I grew up for 10 years in Orangefield, Tx. but moved back to Gosnell after my mom left my dad for good reasons... that I can't say. but I like Arkansas... as I HATE Tx. the state, not the ppl.

I was born in the decent town of Norfolk, Virginia. Growing up, I was the only one in my family that developed the accent, and I still have it today.

I currently live in Baltimore, Maryland and refuse to let go of my southern heritage (My bloodline is mainly southern)

where I spent a lot of time as a kid: Lots of woodland, but also lots of agricultural land. It was pretty, but also very flat. It was a very small and mostly agricultural community. I didn't like it.

where I live now: Very hot. No seasons, really, though we get ice in the winter. It gets humid, too.

Honestly, it's a giant crap hole but it's my home town and I have a lot of home town heart I just wish it wasn't so crime ridden and sad. There are no jobs and it's really hard to get on your own feet. We've got Lake Erie which is kind of cool but lake affect snow and being in the snow belt sucks. Also, -40 degrees Fahrenheit isn't fun. But there is always something to do.

I lived in Cleveland for two years myself. Wow How right you are about the city. lmfao
My hometown is Youngstown, Ohio. Home to the "Youngstown tune-up", it's a real hell hole of the town: a typical Rust Belt city. Back in the day it was run by the mafia and now a days it's just overall shit. But it's rough and tough and it's got a big heart and is actually undergoing gentrification in some areas. The city is one giant hillside, not counting downtown which is IN the valley, and the roads are beat to hell so never visit in the winter: the city can't usually afford to salt its roads and that combined with the amount of potholes is a sure fire bet for car accidents unless you've driven through a winter or two. Oh. And we're the number one most unhappy city in the entire United States, based off of bachelor degree obtainment (the city even has it's own university, how ironic), debt rates, homeless rates, unemployment rates, and murder rates. XD
