My little sister likes to read over my shoulder when I'm typing.
Apparently I swear too much when I write, and she's going to tell my Mum what I've been writing.
    She never has, thank god.

To put it bluntly, I was writing porn and I left it open on my laptop screen when I went downstairs to take a shower. My mom went into my room to look for something while I was gone (I think she was searching for my chocolate truffles, honestly) and happened upon it.

When I got back, it was to be met with an amused, "Andrea, I saw what you're writing! Wow. Your writing is amazingly descriptive - and positively pornographic!"

To which I replied, "Well good, that's what I was going for. If it wasn't pornographic, I think I would have failed pretty hard at that scene, eh?"

This was followed by about ten minutes of her giving me helpful hints on how to improve the details when concerning the specifics of sex, since I am awfully inexperienced with such things. "Because," as she said, "if you're going to write about it, you might as well write about it as correctly as possible."

None of my stories are particularly graphic or anything. And if I'm describing a sex scene I don't explain all the details, just use metaphors. So I doubt I'd be in much trouble if my mum or dad found my writing. But I'm still scared to let people read my work. I feel paranoid that they're not going to like it.

So all of my fanfics are hidden in my room in my notebooks. And the ones on my computer...my mum is a bit stupid. She barely knows how to use it. My dad wouldn't dare.

I've almost been caught posting stuff on Mibba quite a few times by my mom.
There was another time at school when I was writing a rather graphic Ferard one shot and I lost it minutes later.
I found it eventually, but I still wonder if anyone read it...I never wrote stories at school after that.
If anyone in my family knew what I was reading or posting on Mibba I would be so screwed.

When i first found Mibba i'd never heard of slash or waycest and it became my favorite. So when i would have to go to school i'd print out a few stories to read throughout the day. My Dad ended up finding a few of them and freaking out terribly.

My older brother is gay and he found some one of the Ryden's i'd been playing around with and started editing one of the seriously graphic scenes. then he had a very serious conversation about actual ... boysex. it was terrible. :tehe:

When I was, like, ten my Mom found a Naruto fan fiction I'd written. It involved heavy swearing.
Yeah. I grew up too quick, you see.
I quickly went on to write a story about a skunk and other forest animals to get her off my back.

    :lmfao
    I'm pathetic.

My mom picked up one of my stories because my sister, who is my beta reader, left it lying around. It was an incredibly tragic one about a deaf girl killing herself. Not cool. I only write tragedies, and graphic suicide/death stories, I hope she doesn't find any more. I gave my sister a lot of shit on that. Now I just steal her ipod touch and write them on that so I don't have a million hard copies lying around. Because I normally do...

I don't really write slash or sex scenes, and I'm always really careful leaving my notebooks around or Word open in case my unbelieveably nosy family find it.

I get more nervous about my school friends finding or reading my stories, as I'm pretty self conscious about them, and they're likely to judge. Plus, one of my stories heavily features aspects of my life, and characters are based on my real life friends, and they'd probably be able to pick them out. Some of my works deal with themes that I've experienced, some of which I don't want to share with people in real life.

For extension English I used one of the plots from a Mibba story, and was terrified that some of my friends would want to read it when I handed it in. Thankfully the risk was worth it and they didn't have a chance. >_>

So no, I've never been caught writing anything bad or whatever.

I caught my brother red handed with one of my crap stories in my notebook. I use to write down crappy stuff in notebooks so I'd write good when I got to a keyboard and my brother found one and started to read it.
It was at a sex scene and he claims to be scarred for life.
I screamed like a little school girl and tore it away from him.
    o.o
I've burned all of them since.

I'm glad to never have been caught with such things by my dad.
    He'd maim me.
    No lie.
He wouldn't bother with therapy or anything.

When I was younger I lived in my notebook, my mum used to always snoop in my stuff so no prizes for guessing she read my work. Thankfully, when I was a kid (about 10/11) I was pretty innocent, so it wasn't anything to worry about, just a lot of bad language.

Then when I got older and the smutty stuff came, I found a friend in passwords on Word. Why people don't use that is beyond me! You can set it up so it's just protected on that one Doc file not the whole thing.
OOh! How do you do that??

    Nyam

When I was younger, I wrote this original fiction that had a bit of above the belt action. My mom found it in my underwear drawer and freaked.

(They didn't know that I knew about frenching and other such delights.)

I got sent to work with my dad so I could have an uninterrupted lecture.

    :lmfao

They think it's funny now though. And they call me their little "harlequin writer".

I haven't been caught yet, but if I was, my parents, especially my mother, would probably find it all a waste of time. My mother hates the internet to begin with, and despite the fact that she loves reading and all, she'd probably see my writing as a distraction from my school work. A couple of summers ago I had told her I was writing a story, and she kinda turned her nose down at the idea, so yeah.

I've told a couple of my friends that I write in my spare time and actually found out that one of them writes as well. I'd probably never show them my stories though. I'm extremely self-conscious about my personal writings.

I wish there was a way to put a password on an entire folder though. If i wanted to password it all now I'd have to paste everything into word and re-save it with a password. That's waaaay too much hassle.

Thankfully, I haven't been caught yet. Ive come pretty close a few times though.

I don't know about anyother updates of Word, this is 2000. But... Tools> Options> Save> then at the bottom of that it should say Passwords.
You can use two types, one to open & one to modify.
    Nyam

And I think there is a way to get a password on a whole file...I just can't remember how I did it. hehe, I'll have a think and see if I can remember.

When my computer crashed I moved every file to my father’s computer.
It’s still there as I’m too lazy to find a way to move it to my now working computer.
So far he hasn’t said a word about stories so I’m assuming he doesn’t snoop.
He has joked about getting a Mibba account complaining he never gets to read my stories, though.
I tell him to lay it off or I’ll get a sawed off shotgun and blow his computer to pieces.
He says it’s a free world and he can get a Mibba if he wants to.
I say he’s not a writer, he never reads fiction and his English is too crappy anyway. :cute:
He tells me he’s my father and should be allowed to read his only daughter’s stories.
I tell him his daughter is twenty years old and he can go bother the cat instead. x]
(I used to say “go bother my brothers” but they’re eighteen now so. x] )
Then he says “You’re gonna publish something some day, then you can’t stop me from reading!”
To which I reply “Yes, dad, but hopefully I’ll get something publish that won’t mentally scar every member of the family.”
Then he usually stomps off and sulks. :tehe:
He gets so offended about me not letting him read anything I write. xD

I think I’ll actually print some fairly harmless stories and give to my parents for Christmas, though.
I’m fine with them reading my stories if I pick them since it’s not the writing that’s the concern.
And it’s not even really that I write a lot of slash even though mother would frown at it.
It’s more that it’s fan fiction most of it and I just know they’d completely misinterpret that. :XD
I’m pretty sure mother would call it some sick obsession and I will do just fine without her judgmental comments. :cute:

Wow, I just read like every single comment. I wish my parents were as lenient as some of yours!

Okay, I have a really embarassing story to tell. One day, me and one of my co-authors were, very stupidly, role-playing in French class [yeah, we go to the same school]. We'd been doing it for ages and ages because French is the most boring subject in the world and writing sex scenes is much more fun. :file:

Yeah, well one day our teacher found us writing it and confiscated the paper. I got sent to her office for a serious talking to and she said she would tell my parents if I did it ever again and she's a lovely teacher, so it was horrible to see her all... well, horrible.

Our role-play had a large amount of swearing and implied sex... and thankfully it didn't show on the paper, but it was also incestuous. You want to know another thing that made it a whole lot worse?

We go to a private school. A Catholic, private, all-girl's school.

I bet you can understand why we never wrote in class again...

    Ohmygod:lmfao That's terrible.
I go to a Catholic, all-girl's school too...I'm so afraid of leaving something in some room or handing it in by accident. omgno:
Actually... I wrote something relatively graphic and I accidently brought it to school in a package of loose leaf...Which I can't find...
Femmeslash, even. And...Fuck. :cheese: I'm so paranoid about it.

Let's see. My sister read my first fanfiction, which involved a suicide attempt for such a stupid reason that I'm not going to say it. My mom caught me reading Present Progressive, a very graphic Ryden over at LJ; the ending made me laugh and she asked what was funny. When I told her nothing, she got really pissed; she stayed mad for like, a week, too. God, if she knew...:lmfao
I think that's it, though...Oh. I got dared to read a graphic scene of another old, stupid fanfiction to my friend and her cousin Dylan...I couldn't look at him anymore.
:cheese: Hopefully that'll be it for a while...

I was writing a story about a girl and a boy relationship. The girl is going to leave after she had sex with the boy bcoz she had to (secret) and when I was writing so graphic, my mother came in. Luckily I put down the Word and play my games and listen to my music.

Thank God. She would kill me if I write those stuff. She's a... conservative woman.
And I wouldn't want to share my graphic novels with my family or friends. It felt... weird.

My mom has a pretty basic idea of what I write, with all the swears and shit. I think she knows that I write sex... But I'm not sure... She banned from from seeing my friends in summer once because she thought that they're a bad influence on me. Hell, I'm the worst one of them all! Anyways, my sex scenes are shit, but I use a lot of... very interesting words to describe them. My friends know what I write and tease me about it, thinking that I need some action... Hehe....
To keep from anyone besides my friends to find what I write, I use a notebook that I write all my class notes in. And since my mom cant' read the notes, she leaves the notebook alone. My dad wouldn't care less... Well, he thinks I wanna become a photographer so he doesn't ask about my writing=) I once printed out this story in 6th grade about an abused girl and there was a sex scene in it, and I got all the girls in my class hooked and the english teacher wanted to read it. And she did, but corrected all the grammar shit
