I am the oldest, it's okay, but I feel responsible for my sister half the time, not because my parents don't watch/take care of us, but because I am supposed to be the rold model and when she does something she isn't supposed to do, I feel like it is my fault for not showing her it is wrong.

I'm the oldest [15] and I have one younger brother [6]

It's tough at times because it's like we're never apart. And I'm always taking care of him. Like I can't do school activities because I have to take care of him.

But it is kind of cool because when I do something wrong and blame it on him, mom believes me. ;)

I'm the oldest - almost 17 and my sister is 4, so it's a pretty big age gap. I hate it because all the pressure's on me and yeah, it's like my life was their experiment. My sister gets all the better treatment and she's spoiled. Sometimes it hurts because I wish I got that kind of love when I was younger, instead of parents who left most of the parenting to my grandma and parents who were still young and were busy working/going out.

Now, I'm independent from them and I'm usually doing my own thing. But then now, they're trying to steer me in the path that they want me to go into for college and it's just frustrating. We don't really talk about what's going on in my life; the majority of our 'in-depth' conversations are about school. And they wonder why I'm so closed off to them - it's because they don't bother to ask.

I'm the oldest (15), and it does have it's perks, but it can be quite annoying.
My younger brother is 9 and a lot of the time I feel like he's favourited over me, and I never feel like I can live up to the expectations my family has for me, but I think he has it worse to be honest, because, and I mean this in a nice way, but I am way smarter than he is, and he's gonna have a hard time if my parents expect the same things from him as they do from me.

It can be annoying being the oldest, and my brother does have a tendency to tell me just how much he hates me, and I do the same, but despite that I still feel strangely protective over him.

Although it was nice when he told me I was his rolemodel. :)

Oldest. Eh, I guess it can be okay sometimes, but it gets annoying when they try to do everything you do.
Mostly I tell them to do the exact opposite of whatever I do, because I'm mostly getting in trouble. I'm such a wonderful rolemodel. Cheese

    I'm the oldest of two.
    I'm 14 and my sister is 13.
It only makes it worse that we have such a close age difference.
    Sibling rivalry.
And I'm always expected to watch over her, but I get it.
I'll take care of her if I have to.

I'm the oldest in my house, but I'm the second youngest in my whole family because all of my cousins are older than me.

My brother's only three years younger than me, though.

I love being the oldest because I get more trust to go out and have freedom, while my younger brother still has a curfew and needs to be checked up on ;)

And of course, I get to boss my brother around and make him do things for me.

I'm the oldest out of 2. Izzy is 12.
Problems ~ Tougher rules. I get blamed for everything. I do most of the chores (Including making her dinner when my parents are out). And she can ask for days off school, which I was never allowed to do. She copies me terribly.

Advantages ~ Dad always takes my side of the argument. Later bed times. I can tell her what to do. She looks up to me. I'm glad I have a little sister and not a little brother.

    She's pretty cute. ^_^

Oldest of four. I'm 21 then it's Marcus (17), Aaliyah (15), and Montel (14). I absolutely hated being the oldest because I was the experiment for my parents' parenting techniques. Everything the others did wrong was generally my fault and I was constantly pressured to be a "good example." I once got into a huge fight with my dad over my unfortunate birth order and asked him for a manual on "how to raise your parents' kids and be a good role model for them since they can't seem to do that themselves" and got grounded for an entire summer. (Still looking for that book btw.)

Of course now I'm pregnant with my first child (a boy) and my parents still give me the "role model" talk. They feel its my fault my teenaged sister is curious about sex now. *sighs* Being the oldest sucks for me.

Only perk is that I can claimed "birth right" to anything I wanted like the front seat, first whack at food, and the bathroom during bathtimes and they could NEVER argue.

I'm the oldest five and in all honesty, the positives don't out weigh the negatives.
There's myself, 19, then a 16 year old, an 11 year old, an 7 year old and a 5 year old.
I think my experience has been more negative because of the age gaps. I've always had to be there to mind the siblings because there all so much younger than me.

But the positives are I was given so much freedom from such a young age. I was 11 and 12 years old and cycling miles from the city to the country side with friends.

    I'm the oldest of two.
    My sister is 11.

I had it much harder when I was little. From the age of 4-9ish? I was spanked everynight :\
She's NEVER been spanked in her life.
At her age I was staying home alone, and even babysitting the neighbors kids. But she can't walk downstairs by herself, if the lights not on xP
    Her bedtime is 9pm.
    My bedtimes went like this.
    until I was 7 bedtime was 6:30
    until I was 12 bedtime was 7:00
    until I was 13 bedtime was 8:00
    Now that I'm fifteen, it's 10:00

My mom and I have a weird relationship. Whenever we try to talk about anything, it's always yelling, and fighting until I'm in tears. So we don't really talk about anything personal. Just you know, things like "What do you want for supper, how was school" .. blah blah (:

Also my mom doesn't trust me. At all.
I've never done anything to break the trust. (I'm usually called a goodie-goodie) But she says "trust has to be earned" .. which is pretty much impossible with her.
I even have "parental controls" and "time limmits" on my computer. So she can moniter every website I visit, every link I click on. How long I'm on the computer ect. ect.
& it will automatically shut off at 10pm. So that I'm not on here after "bedtime"
    But...my sister doesn't have ANY

The best thing about being the oldest is that I'm more independant, and I think I'll survive living in the real world easier than my sister. Oh & I get to be the first to move out WOOT WOOT :D

I'm the oldest of two. My younger sister was born when I was three and a half, and is currently twelve.

I need to take care of her when mom's working, and my sister always gets what she wants.
