I'm the oldest of 5. Kaylub is 16, my step brothers Zaire and Zane are 8, and my half brother, Kyle is 3 almost 4 months.
The bad thing for me with being the oldest is that my parents are kinda like since they messed up with me its no big deal they have other kids to focus on. That sucks though cause neglect is horrible but the good thing is that I have most all my brother there for me. They are a good bunch of kids. :)

Oldest of three, one sister is 22 and the other is 17. Yeah, it sucked being the firstborn because the parental units were younger and had the energy to be stricter back then. Now they're tired of enforcing rules. What bedtime? What chores? What respect for your elders? My younger sisters are spoiled rotten and get away with murder. I be sitting back thinking "damn, wish I had it like that when I was their age."

I'm the oldest of 4 (14, 12, and almost 8). I'm the one who is also adopted by my grandparents. I'm spoiled and get away with a lot more than my siblings can. I never really had chores to do (and still don't other than dishes now) I also got paid to keep my grades up when I was in school (mostly because I was giving up). I've also been to friends houses and have friends over. I'm also the one who had a cell at age 12 until i was 16 when it got turned off. However, there has been a lot of stuff I never got to do. My brother (mostly) has been able to stay after school and walk to the library or just walk the streets of the town with friends. I asked to do so when I was younger and wasn't allowed because (i might get kidnapped). I didn't even get to go trick or treating with a friend when I was 16 because it wasn't safe. I couldn't do a lot of stuff because 'it wasn't safe'. My siblings have gotten away with a lot of shit that I wouldn't have when I was younger (maybe its because they lived with our mom most of their life) They also have been getting stuff that I wanted when I was younger. They got a freakin' sandbox when they moved in with my grandparents and I. (something I had asked for so much when I was a kid. playing in a sandbox also isn't that fun when you're 16.) I'm also told that I have to lock me door when I'm not here since my siblings like to steal shit. (if it was the other way around and I took something of theres, I'd be in trouble!) there's more that I can't think of because I still get annoyed when they get to do stuff I couldn't do when I was their age.

I'm the oldest of four. My brother is fourteen, my middle sister is eleven, and my youngest sister is nine.

The problem I have with being the oldest sometimes is that at times, none of them take responsibility for the things they do and naturally, I feel obligated to protect my little brother and/or sister so I've taken a lot for them. The cool thing about being the oldest, though, is that I get more opportunities to do things than my siblings do right now and things are always offered to me first. Coffee But on a serious note, it's pretty cool being the oldest because I set the tone. It's stressful at times, but being their role-model is cooler than I thought it'd ever be.

I have an older half-brother and two younger sisters so I have to deal with all the issues that come with being the middle child and the eldest. When I was younger I often felt left out due to being a middle child, then when I was older I was expected to set an example for my sisters because I was "the eldest" (my brother had moved out) and I could never get away with anything they did.

I am like second mom being the oldest of siz children. I am almost nineteen. Kaplan is almost 17, Gunner is almost 15, Cian is 7, Liam is 6, and Lailah just turned 4. Sometimes I feel left out attention wise towards my siblings or that I take care of them way more than I should but I love them. They drive me crazy but I love going to recitals and being an assistant baseball coach for Liam. The younger three came out of the blue and I can't even imagine if it was just me Kellan and Gunner.

I am the first born of four children. Me, 23. Alaina, 21. Anthony, 16. Aaron, 12.

As many others have mentioned, one of the difficulties of being the oldest child is that you are the science experiment for your parents, as well as the expected role model for your siblings, which can sometimes make for a rather impossible combination. It also didn't help that we were a military family and moved every other year. I also got diabetes at age 4.

For the longest time I hated being the oldest. There were so many responsibilities and so much pressure. I did interestingly learn that is there is a five year or more age gap in between siblings, then that sibling displays similar characteristics of a first born. So, while there are four of us, Anthony and I are more like the first borns and Alaina and Aaron are more like the babies of the family due to the five year gap between the two sets of siblings. Have any of you noticed that with your siblings? If there is a five year gap between any of you, do you see that sibling exhibiting similar characteristics as you?

I have 4 brothers and 1 sister, so I am in the middle. I like the middle, I mean the older two got to leave home before I did, but that's ok. I was a good kid. I didn't give my parents any trouble, and we all turn out ok. What a blessing ha! Smile

    oh being the oldest...

im nineteen & my brother is twelve. i totally agree on being the science experiment or the black sheep of the family. everyone totally forgot who i was the minute my brother was born & least to say i was jealous beyond comprehension growing up. im sort of main oc that the story revolves around in an independent story & my brother is the overachiever oc that the family has 100% faith in becoming like a doctor or scientist while im over here like "lol im going to travel the world & live awesomely so screw you & society!"

+ let's not forget how he's perfect & im not so i get yelled @ like i have problems ~
