Have you ever lost your passion for writing; when it becomes more of a hassle than something you actually enjoy doing?

Anyone else ever had this happen? Was it a phase? I'm kind of hoping that's what it is for me, because I use to love it.
When I first started writing, I loved it, but then after a while, when I'd go to update, I'd just feel like it wasn't worth the trouble, because I didn't get into it anymore. It was like a chore, rather than a hobby.

I don't like writing anymore. I've nearly lost all interest.

That happened to me, once. What I did was abandon the story I was writing, it was a poision for me. Then I went and read some really inspiring stories and listened to a lot (and I mean a lot) of music. I started a new story, and, after working hard past the first few pages, something just clicked back in my head. I don't know what it was, but I felt so much better, and my writing seriously improved.

I'm currently going through that right now, but I know writing isn't a phase because what little I do write is getting really good and I'm getting ideas all over the place. Sad It kinda' pisses me off actually.

YEah, that's happening to me right now. I thought I would be a writer when I grew up, but now I'm not so sure anymore. My note books, which used to be filled with stories, poems, and just random quotes, are now just filled with notes form science. It's disenheartening. And now Serena's all into my writing, and wants me to update everyday and write something new, and I just don't want to.

    No.
    I never have.
I'll go a few days without writing, but I've never lost interest or passion in it.
When I'm not writing, I'm thinking about stories.
I breathe this. It will never leave me.

I did after posting two stories. Nobody commented on them because
they were both original and it seems like fanfiction gets the spotlight, so I just thought
I was writing stuff for nothing. I didn't get feedback or opinions, so I just was on hiatus
for about three months and when I decided to go on again because of a new idea
that came into my head, I started getting feedback and reviews and it made me feel
interest again and that's when I started loving it more than ever.

I'm constantly thinking about stories, I'm just uninterested in writing them down. It's...weird.

I've always had a passion for writing and never have really lost it.
There've been times where I've gone a week or two without writing because I've lost my muse, but other than that I've never lost interest in it.
Though, there are stories I wish I'd lose intrest in because then it'd be easier to think o ideas for it.

Only for certain stories at certain times.

For Ringing In The Sane, I kinda get bummed that I've put so much effort and love into it and only two of my close friends read it, and only one actually comments it.

Which is why I've decided I'm going to finish the stories I write before I post them, that way if no one reads them, at least I've finished them and can't back out P:

And I hate writing when my characters fight. It reallydepresses me. Sometimes I get on the verge of tears because I get too into it, and then I have to stop. :lmfao Then I don't write anything for a while.

I've stopped writing and have lost my passion for it. I have two one shots that I need to finish. One is a KTF story. The other... has the potential to be amazing, if I can actually be bothered to finish it. Which I can't.

I have an ongoing story that needs an update but I just can't get motivated.
I don't feel I have enough talent to write anymore.
I have ideas but I just don't have the energy to make something out of them.

    I just fail :cute:

I don't think I necessarily lost interest in writing, but rather discovered that I'm not capable of writing yet. For example I might get a story/novel idea but I don't have the power to write it. I have a growing interest in reading at the moment, I believe the two are interconnected. I'm just 16, I accept the fact that my chances to write anything good at this moment are negligible and that it's best to read as much as I can now that I still have the time for it.

    -shrug-
I can't just start a story because writing seems like a nice hobby. I need some kind of stronger reason.

I lose interest in just about everything I ever do, so granted I lose interest in writing all the time.
And I’m sort of guilt-tripped by myself into updating because I never feel like it, I just make myself.
The thing is, I just never stop writing.
When I didn’t write stories for a while I wrote poems.
When I stopped with the poems I wrote 200 lyrics.
When I quit that I wrote long stories (novel kind but unfinished ones).
When I quit that I wrote short stories instead.
When I quit that I began writing drabbles.
When I quit that I wrote short stories again, plus novellas.
And if I try to do none of the above I end up writing blog entries,
which often are non-fiction short stories more or less.
I simply cannot not write. I don't like writing but I couldn't stop if I tried.
And though I don't like the actual writing and strongly dislike the editing I like the result.
So even if I could quit I like things about the writing process and the result too much to give it up.

There are days like that for me. I can't not love it for more than just a little bit. Because I'm good at it maybe? IDK. But yeah, I do have phases every once and a while like that.

    No worries. Bye

I went through almost the same thing a little while ago. I couldn't write, anything that I wrote sounded like shit and I was out of ideas so I got pretty pissed and was ready to rip up my notebooks. I just said screw it and didn't write anything for about a month. Then I started getting ideas again. I'm not working on any of my current stories but I'm starting something totally new. I say just start over.

I had a 2 year gap where I just randomly stopped writing. It was really weird. I didn't hate writing I just lost total interest in writing anything. I abandon stories all the time still but I think it might just be my scattered brain.

:tehe: Same here. I thought I was the only one who thought about my stories. I think about them the same way as a high school crush. I have stopped writing that's only because I'm so busy, but I love to write and will never give it up.

After my dad passed away, I went through this little "Is anything even worth it?" phase. I picked up writing again after about...3 or so weeks, but sometimes it's more of a task, even now. Sad

    Agreed

I may not be posting them on Mibba etc but I write at least a paragraph a day or I think up new twists for them

I guess it depends on different people and how strong their passion for writing is, if they'd rather read etc

    I've got that right now.

I've started to read a lot of other people's stories and then I look at mine and give up. :tehe:
Plus there's a lot of things going on with my mum so my brain's not allowing me to function properly.
