How Did You Name Your Pets?

How did you come to name your pets?
Did you end up calling them a series of names for a day or two (or an hour or two) before coming to settle on one?

When I first got two shih tzus (which I had to give away when I moved )
One was a boy and the other a girl

My parents let me name the girl "Momo" but THEN they changed it to Mimi :(

Then we were trying to name the boy shih tzu, and my mom put her sunglasses on him and was like "James Bond!!!"
Of course I laughed and was like "Hahahaaa.... no. :file: "

and he ended up being called "Tolami" which I later found out my aunt named him after a dog in a korean drama that was a service dog to the main character who lost her sight >.<

I got a new dog, a teacup yorkshire terrier
We went through a lot of names, but I only remember "Baby" and "Bopi"
my parents didn't like the idea of the name baby, so.... then we looked at bopi
we got that out of the korean word for kiss "boppoh"
and then it got a little strange calling her "Bopi"

I then remembered the character "Candy Candy" and was like "LETS NAME HER CANDY"

and that won

we went to several vets and each time her name changed xD

"Candy Kim"
"Candi Kim"
"Kandy Kim"
"Kandi Kim"

but over all we use the traditional Candy lol

Well, my dog Buddy is named after Air Bud... Even though she's a girl, I was set on naming a dog after that. But to make her more feminine, I call her Buddy Lynn.
My rat I was going to name Matthieu after Mat Devine from Kill Hannah, but then the day I went to get him, I went through and listed a bunch of names. Matthieu and Shaddix (after Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach) won. Once we got him, I decided he was much more of a Shaddix than a Matthieu. So his nicknames are Shay, Shady, and Shay-Shay. He's a real sweetie. :)

My dog is called Sue.

We decided to be very creative and just shorten her racing name - Reckless Sue. (;

Dipstick was prenamed
Spot was named after Data's cat in Star Trek
Wolverine was named after Wolverine
Stanley was picked by mum for the hell of it
Edmund was from a litter of four dubbed after the Pevensies as they were discovered while watching Prince Caspian

I took 1 month naming my cat
it was crazy so you called it nutter, then nutface,
then kept that for a while then called it nutmeg! ^^

My parents wouldn't let me name my dog. They said that it was supposed to end in "ie" or "ey." So then my brilliant brother came up with Rosie and my parents vetoed Starry.

I was five!

It took me a million months to decide what to name my kitten.
I went through names like Princess, Sparkle, Pansy, et cetera, but then I heard a story about Bert McCracken I'd never known from my friend Danielle, and her name, yes, that's right, her name, changed to David Bowie after Bert's dog that died.

Bah, that was a sad story. ):

my hamster's name is Demon, because she's so mean. She'll bite your finer off if you get in the close prioximity.
Snickers i named cause of his color
and Rags is my friend's name (who offcially named my rat after her) and I just haven't ever called her anything else.
I named Snowbell because i thought "snowball" was too common.

i generally observe my pets for a few hours before i name them.
with my old guinea pig, "Tilly" just popped into my head.
i get pet names from music/musicians, books, movies, etc.
i'm really not too original with them.

Whatever fits

My rabbit was albino, so Snowball seemed to fit.
My sister's rabbit was already named Diablo when we got him.
Our dog was named after Timmy, the dog from the Famous Five.
Our cat was named Tricka, after Trisha, which was an elephant at the zoo.

My Dad and I argued until we found something we both liked. :tehe:

I wasn't given a look in. My brothers chose them. 'B' chose 'Treehouse' ( yeah I know) and 'I' chose 'Yoda.' How cool.
Treehouse died on Sunday. :(

Perry was a joke off a company that couldn't spell my dad's name right. :XD

We went through a whole list of really cutesy and fluffy names for her, and the radio was on and the song "Zoe Jane" by Staind came on and it just fit.

Petieu we called Missy for a really long time because we didn't know what to call her.

Spock, he has big ears and a little head like the Star Trek character.

Their names have always just kind of come like that.

We named our cat after a Big Brother winner: Cameron.
Shortened to 'Cammie'.

My dog was named Tess from the people at the rescue centre.
My other dog was named Max because he...looked like a max XD
And my kitten was named Talon after a ship :file:

My cat's name is Fuzz because, well, I was 11 when I got him and he was fuzzy :file:
My sister's cat is named Bullet but he had that name when we got him. It annoys her now that it sounds like her cat is named after my favourite band. Ha!
The work dog's name is Josie because mum named her that and the old dog's name is Tara and I have no idea why because I don't even remember when we got her.

Currently I have no pets.
But my bunny was named Sundae cause I got him on a Sunday and I had eaten an ice cream sundae as well :cute:
My other bunny was Daisy cause it's my favorite flower.
My birds were Bill and Bob because I though they sounded like twin names.
Tasha was my guinea pig because that was her name when I got her at the humane society.
And Molly my kitty was Molly cause she looked like my G-ma's old cat Missy, and Molly just sounded better. :XD

I named my doggie Smup. Idk why, it was random and it was unique. =]
