OH! I have a rottweiler mix and she is all white with fading black spots and a black face. At the time of me naming her, it was before we actually got to see her and I named her Mayuki or Pure Snow.
Recently a few months back we were in the petstore and we met a nice lady named Mayuki and she told us another translation which is Pretty Snow. I like either way really! My dogs nickname is Mya, <3

My boyfriend and I just recently got a puppy together, we couldn't figure out a name for her she's a dachshund / schnauzer mix and my boyfriend said Shadow while we were on our way home so it stuck. Our cute little Shadow is such a good girl. ^^

The way I named by Birdy was easy for me. I was writing 'Half Mortal' at the time, and the main girl's hair is blue. Well, my bird is blue and white (Parakeet), and I named the girl Azure, so that was a suggestion, but I didn't want to name him after a girl. So I went with Asher, because it sounds like Azure, if you say it right. Lol ... And also, because at the time I was OBSESSED with the name Asher for a boy. So he got the name 'Asher William Johnson'.

I had two birds named Messy and Dessy when I was a kid. They were messy, so I just named one Messy, and...I couldn't think of what to name the second one, so, uh...I just picked a rhyming name. Facepalm

My cat, Stardust, was named after another cat I met in the neighborhood. The other cat's name was actually Starburst, but I misheard and thought it was Stardust, so I just named her that and it stuck. (She was almost named Pikachu, Snowball, or Inuyasha. Facepalm)

I've never named any of my pets. I was either too young to name them myself or everyone favoured my siblings name ideas over mine Disgust

My cat Moo : my friend's kitten originally so she named him Moo cause he looks like a cow. Then I raised him after she couldn't take care of him. Still have his spoiled ass 6 years later.

Dog Lola : originally named Candy by my grandpa since it was his dog first. But then he started calling her Lola who then became really attached to my mom so she's my moms dog now.

Dog Charles (Charlie) : charlie our tea cup poodle was put in our yard in very bad condition. Not to mention he was already 11 years old. We felt very had for him so we took him in and nursed him back to health. Since he was already old, I decided he should be named a proper name :P so I started calling him Charles.

Dog Midnight : he's my boyfriends dog so I didn't name him. But he's black as night so my he named him midnight.

I have two cats. Max is named after Max Green from Escape The Fate. Their personalities are a lot alike, and my cat Max has the same shade of eyes as Max Green.

Topher is my other cat, and he's named after the bassist in another band that I like, Speaking The King's.

My dog's name is Cheyenne. I named her that because she looks like a pretty Native American woman that I know, and her tribe is Cheyenne.

I've had a lot of dogs and cats in my life, but growing up the household had to collectively agree on a name for the animals. Currently, my husband and I have one cat and one dog.

My cat is 7, and she originally belonged to my step brother. He abandoned her at my house about six years ago. He named her Kita, after her mother (who's name was Kittums). I never bothered to change it.

My dog Carmen, is a 10 month old German Shepherd/Beagle mix. My husband and I named after the Lana Del Rey song. Walkman

My pets always end up with names that cater to their personality/the biggest personality trait they have so they end up being unnamed for awhile until their biggest trait shows. Sometimes they end up with names because of how they look, but that hasn't happened very often. I have a couple of outside cats that are named after other animals (i.e, Spider, Bunny, Lemur, Bear) because of physical and/or personality traits. Spider like climbing up things, Bunny hops like a bunny, Lemur just straight up looks like a lemur, and Bear ended up being called Bear because he liked to crawl in people's hair when he was a baby and we called him a "hair bug" and it turned into Bear.

None of our pets end up with names we just like; they all end up with names based on their personality or what they look like. Always. We even have a couple of outside cats named after fictional characters because they somehow reminded my parents of said characters. We had an Elwood for a long time because he was fluffy, therefore deemed the "puffball bacteria." Coffee

My pets are usually named after literary characters or pop culture figures. Lady Chatterley is from a D.H. Lawrence novel, Sirius and Regulus are named after the Black brothers in the Harry Potter Series, Jean Valjean comes from Les Misèrables. The odd one out in this bunch is Sir Alex named after Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United's former manager, although years ago when I lived with my old flatmate, he got a cat that we collectively named Wentzle after Wentzle Ruml. Funny thing is they are both ginger tabby cats so I guess I only name my ginger tabbies after real people.

My dogs, Venus and Zack were already named when we got them. Of course, Venus was named after the Roman Goddess of Love because she was born on Valentine's Day and her names suits her, too.

My old dog, Blaze, was called Blaze because he had a huge white blaze on his chest and a small blaze on his nose.

I have a yorkie puppy named Jackson. My boyfriend actually came up with it, i believe because he really likes Michael Jackson, and we also got him in Jackson, MI, so I've always assumed it was a combination of those two things. I also have two cockatoos at my mom's house. One's name is Kozmo, and I named him after the character in The Fairly Oddparents 11 years ago. The other one is named Maxwell, because when we adopted him at 9 years old his past owners had named him Max and we already had another dog named Max (a cocker spaniel... RIP), so we started calling him Maxwell to differentiate and continue to now because he's used the the name and out of respect for the other Max.

Right now, I have three dogs. They all have "D" names, and they all play into some sort of weird pop culture reference. I got Durden first. He's a black lab/bassett hound mix, and I named him after Tyler Durden in Fight Club. The next was Dean, and he's a black-and-tan german shepherd. He was named after Dean Winchester from Supernatural. The baby of the family is my yellow lab/bassett hound mix named Delaney, and she was named after the Jack's Mannequin song "Miss Delaney."
