When my dog was a baby he looked realy curly, fluffy, and had/has HUGE ears.
So we named him Lambchop, (Lamby for short). But now he looks more like a Jack Rabbit :P

I found my pomeranian, Baby. We got her name from the dog in the movie White Chicks. :D

And my other dog was named after King Koopa, (Koopa for short) from the video game, Mario :)

For some of my cats we would immediately name them something, and then as time went on that name would change. Like my cat Bumblebee, has become Betch (because she can be a real b-word).

Mostly I name my pets off of my obsession at the time. Like when I was obsessed with The Nightmare Before Christmas I named two of my cats Jack and Zero. And when I was going through a faze of Inuyasha, I named two of my cats Kagome and Kirara. I have a cat named Kyo from my Fruits Basket faze, Nova from a bleach obsession, and one named Kiki from a Hayao Miyazaki faze. Others I just named on a whim. Like Felonious, Serendipity, Pounce, and Tigger.

My cat is completely black except for a small white patch between her back legs on her stomach. So, I named her Midnight Star.

I happen to think it's a very cute name. :grr:

My brother has/had two gerbils named Sonic and Shadow. I suggested the name after the hedgehogs, since one was dark, and the other was white (:

All the cats I've had have been named after characters from plays my family was in at the time.

    Except for Nuzzle. XD
But Albert was named after Bye Bye Birdie
Rosie was named after Bye Bye Birdie
Ursie was named after Ursula in Bye Bye Birdie.

Minnie Faye was named after Hello Dolly.

And our dog was named Huckleberry.

I've had my dog since I was 6 and my parents let me name him. :D
He's a shitzu and like the little kid I was, I had a movie that I was totally obsessed with. So I named him Miko, after the raccoon on Pocahontas. :)
So I went with the movie pets to help me name mine haha.

When we first got our cat, he was pretty terrified of us. So he would hide in the dusiest places in the house. So we named him Dusty. :shifty

When I got my kitten I was set on calling anything new I had, even like a flower, 'Kashmir' after the Led Zeppelin song.... but my parents wanted to call him Motley, after Motley Crue, because he's much like Tommy [ xD ] so I called him Motley-Kashmir....

She already had a name when we got her from the Humane Society. But at the time I couldn't think of a new one and I knew you shouldn't really change the name or they'll get confused, so she just stayed Iris :D

I named Beau when I was four, and I have no idea twhere that came from, but Orion, my Yorkie, was named after Sirius Orion Black from Harry Potter (and it's the dog constelation in the sky!) so I tend to name them after other people/animals/places

    My dod is named Cheese.
I named him after Cheese from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, and he's a golden retriever, and he loves cheese, so that helps. xD
