I have two cats, both of which I named. There's a black one that was initially going to be named Angel, but I changed it to Shadow after the name I used in a story. The second cat is named Pepper because she looks like the color of pepper.

I couldn't decide what to name my hamster until I realized that he is like an alarm clock, waking me up at the same times every night. His name became TOCK Clap

My sister named her cat Daemon after the Phillip Pullman His Dark Materials trilogy. She loves that cat like it is part of her soul, so it makes sense, although it was awkward when we lost her, asking our nighbours if they'd seen Daemon (true story)

She mainly gets called Dee-Dee or pookums to be honest though.

When we fostered pregnant cats for this animal shelter my sister works at, we named the kittens in themes.

For instance, the mother was called Twinkle, so we went with a star theme and the kittens were called Nova (as in Supernova) and Orion (the constellation)

My cat Squeak already had her name when I adopted her. I named my cat Billie Jo after Billie Joe Armstrong just because I think she had his personality in cat form. Alice was a stray that I took in and she got her name because she's very curious and because Alice In Wonderland was pretty much my favorite Disney movie growing up. (That and The Lion King...) She had kittens which I named Dante (the demon cat), Mr. Sassy (Who was sort of a girl until we found out he... Wasn't.), Adeline, and Nibblet. (My sister named the last one.)

My hamster's name is Ramona after the Ramones.

My rabbits are Helena after THE MISFITS song and Xavier because he just looked like an Xavier. I was going to name him Xandir like the character from Drawn Together but... I didn't want to explain about that name.

My horse is Bucky just because it's a cute name and I was 10.

My dogs are Wiggles because when she was a puppy and she wagged her tail her whole bum moved. Honey (my baby!) is a honeyish color and Shea just sounded like a good middle name because of the scent. Augie was named by my Mom from an old cartoon and Duncan and Spotty were named by my sister. Spotty doesn't even have spots! We just call him Spotsy because it sounds cooler.

    That's... Long!

    I named my hermit crabs-
Harvey Dent because he has a Batman shell,
    and Lex Luther because I brought him home in a Superman shell;
but he changed over night :XD

We named two of our cats after Lion King! :tehe: Kiara and Covue.
My dog was named for the same reason! :con: Though I wanted to call her Princess originally (I was 7!). So glad I didn't now! :XD

But I learned a little while ago, Kiara is Swahili for Princess - unless Wikipedia lies! :tehe:

I named my cat after a character in a book, Reef. It was my first choice and I fought with my younger sister and my parents for it.

    I won. :cute:

And my dog's previous owner had named her princess. I forget why exactly I was so against naming her princess. I was just a kid, but I was completely set against keeping her name princess. I tried different names with her over and over.

The only problem was she only listened to princess. I think it fits her perfectly now, she's such a winy baby. I love her for it thou. In Love

I named my horse after my favourite Killers song.

... it's since become my kind of second identity.

    Mr Brightside.

My cat is named Pippin, after one of the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings :cute:

I was very obsessed with the movies at the time I got him and one day it just hit me. Why not Pippin? I just thought it fit him so well. And everyone agreed so there you go ^^

My dogs names are Kaede Lynn and Mishka Mai. They are both siberian huskies. I dont really know how the names came about, I guess I just liked them. We have a cat that we found outside, we werent going to keep him at first, we were going to find him a new home, so my mom said not to name him. So instead of naming him I called him Stray, we kept him and that is now his name. My other cats are Thomas O'mally(from the movie aristacats) and Dante Lagoto. Then there is Oreo I got her when I was 3.

My dogs name is Bear, which is weird becuase you would think that the name Bear is a boy name, but she looked like a bear when she was a puppy, so the name stuck.

My dog's name is Tigger because she looks a little bit like Tigger off of Winnie the Pooh. :tehe:
For my cat, it took me forever tp figure out what to name her. Then I saw this show that had a mouse or something and it's name was Mazy, so that's what I decided on naming her, but I added an 'e' between the z and y, so it's Mazey.
