My name is Samantha. I love my name. :)
But I hate when people try to shorten it to Sam, Sami, etc.

My names Liesel, pronounced Leah-sell. For some reason people have a hard time pronouncing it and when they read it off paper they think it's lee-zul or lee-sul probably because of the sound of music. I've never been fond of my name and think its pretty ugly -_-

My name is Annabel, and I actually really like it. My parents were going to call me Billie (which I wouldn't have minded either) but my grandad wouldn't let them because Billie isn't a Catholic name.

I get some great misspellings though. Last year I was looking at the names on all my christmas cards and the majority of the spellings were like this:
Annabelle, Annabell, Anabelle, Anabel, Annable and Anable. Anable. Even my own family spell it wrong.

My middle name is even worse when I tell people it. It's Cerys, and it's a welsh name (named after my mum's best friend from when she lived in Wales). It's pronounced Ke-ris, which everyone seems to have a problem with. They read it out as Ceres (the planet), seris, cerees, and so many other weird pronunciations.

I'm not going to post my last name on here, but it begins with a 'G' which is always pronounced as a 'J' which gets very annyoing.

My name is Nary. Not nair-ee (like 'nary a thing', that'd be a terrible name), but nar-ee. It is actually pronounced Nah-dee, but I find it's a lot nicer sounding to say Nar-ee. Ppl tend to put too much emphasis on the 'd' sound and it was throwing me off. I get to be called one name at school and come home to practically a whole new name. It's kinda fun~ I like it~

My name's Cybil. Everyone starts nerdgasming over it.
"AHHH IT'S LIKE CYBIL FROM SILENT HILL."

It's actually Cybil-Naphiro... But, Cy or Cybil is much preferred.

My name's Josie, but my full name is Josephine. No one ever calls me Josephine though, so when someone does say it (like the occasional teacher), everyone gives me this strange stare. It's not a hugely unusual name, though it's not common either, and I guess it sounds quite posh and old-fashioned.

Occasionally I get called 'Jo-zee.' I've noticed that's mostly from people who don't speak English as their first language though, and I kind of like it. Someone once spelt it 'Jocee' as well. I thought it was a pretty obvious name to spell.

My name is Aja and I hate it.
You guys are probably wondering "Why do you hate your name?"
Well, it's because it's pronounced ASIA like the continent.
So, all throughout elementary school I got teased and people called me continent and whenever the teacher would say Asia everybody would look at me to see my reaction.
    I hate it.

Mine's Elizabeth. I think it's a pretty name but it doesn't suit me. Also, when Lizzie McGuire was on Disney everyone teased me and called me that name. -sigh- I dislike the nickname Lizzie to this day. I want a name that is more common on males. I think it would suit me. My mother wanted to call me Annastasia but decide not to due to 'sounding too Russian with my last name.' My father wanted to call me Alexandria but my mother didn't like it. I wouldn't mind either name. I think the nicknames Stasia and Alex would suit me.

My birth name is Randi-Elizabeth, but I have always just gone by Randi or my common nickname, Ran.

Of course, I've heard all the jokes - 'Are you randy, Randi?' seemed to be a favorite in middle school. And I probably won't get past the fact that my name is 'a boy's name' (I was named after one, so I do know this). Or the endless, 'What is that short for?'

But what annoys me more is that not many people understand the function of a hyphen. I've gotten pretty used to people thinking Elizabeth was my middle name, but alas, I do not have a middle name at all - which also befuddles some people. And I have yet to find a professional document (standardized application or test, or anything with set boxes) that allows me to write my name in it's entirety. I either end up as 'Randi-Eilzabet', 'Randi-Elizab', or just pretend that Elizabeth is indeed my middle name.

Regardless of teasing or misunderstandings, I do like my name. I think it is unique (as I can count on both hands the number of people I've met in person with the same name, even less with the same spelling) and many have complimented both my full name and Randi as being beautiful/pretty/unique.

    My names Madeline.

I like it, it's both unique and common enough for my taste. But, it can be a bit of a mouthful having to say

"Hi my name is Madeline, what's your name?."

    Because it really feels like

    "HimynameisMadelinewhat'syourname."

So I often just tell people to call me Maddy.

When I was younger I remember spelling my name M-e-l-n-i-e, because for some reason in my child mind it sounded like Madeline.

When teachers call on me it can be a bit irritating because they often call me the way the names is written, Mad-eh-line, but really it's suppose to be, Mad-eh-lyn. It pisses me off when people call me as Mad-eh-line because it's just not my name.

I mentioned it to my mother once and she was surprised that it could be written in a different way (Like Madelyn). I was named after some Secretary of the State. Which is kinda of cool.

I really like though, that if I had been born a boy, my name would have been Ian.

My name is Imre. A lot of the time, people mishear me and think it's Imbre or Indre or something, but that's fine. I was aware of that when I was named (I changed my name last year). I quite like it, it's not a very unusal name, but it's quite rare in Norway.

Butterfly is a beautiful name, in my opinion. OMGYES

My name is Bessie. People find it hard to believe my parents would give me that name..but I'm named after my great grandmother, so.. Most of the time, people hear "Betsy" when I introduce myself, so I have to say, "No. Bessie, like the cow." Then they get it. mrgun Because of the fact that I live in Vermont, I get a lot of cow jokes. Most of the time the jokes are lame and unoriginal. I don't get offended at the lack of creativity. Rolling Eyes

I like being Bessie, though. It's fun because different in that aspect. A lot of people tell me it's a pretty name, but then there are always adults who are jerks when I first meet them and they're like, "woaaaah Bessie!" I'd expect that from a highshool student, but not a fourty year old man. Disgust

Oh, yeah! When I was in elementary school, there was that show, "Mighty B!" about a girl named Bessie who had a major lisp. I find it hilarious because at the time the show was on, my lisp was so bad, people called me "Beshie." XD

My name is Ione. It's pronounced like "I-OWN-E", and, no, I'm not the only one with this name, hahaha. There's a famous actress named Ione Skye.
For some reason unknown to me, people always say it like "Iron". It just doesn't make sense. Facepalm

I like my name now, but I didn't before. Hahaha.

My name is Eden, but I go by my middle name, which is Elizabeth, on websites and what not. People always call me Eve though, because Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden and apparently Eden is hard to remember? Or they ask me my name and I say it and they go "oh, like the garden?" Facepalm

Lots of people think it's pronounced "eh-den" and I'm a guy when they see my name too, apparently. It's really not a confusing name, I don't know why it's so difficult for people to get it XD

I like your name. It's pretty uncommon (:

    ---

Mine is Karelys. It's not a difficult name, but when I visit the States it seems most people have trouble pronouncing it. Also, here in Puerto Rico they tend to misspell it: Carelys, Carelis, Karelis, and so on and so forth.

Pronunciation is more or less "kah-reh-liz". I can't explain hahaha.

    Everyone calls me Kare, tho.

My name's Lorraine but I go by Rayne.
I guess I don't really mind Lorraine, but I wish it was a little prettier, or girlie-r. Sometimes with a substitute teacher they mispronounce it like Lara-ayne, not too sure how, but whatever. Also the amount of ways to misspell my name is atrocious, even my own (completely mentally fit) grandmother can't spell my name and my brother gets confused. I've gotten Lorain, Loraine, Lorwayne, Laurayne.

And it bugs me when I tell people to call me Rayne after they meet me, but they still try to call me Laura or Lori.

I get teased all the time for having the same name as the mermaid. I can't stand it.

It also get's on my nerves when people pronounce my name like "Arielle". That is not my name. If my name were pronounced like that, it would be spelled A-R-I-E-L-L-E, no A-R-I-E-L. Get it right, people -.- -A

Butterfly is a pretty cool name I think.

My name's Antonia. The only problem I've had is being called 'Antonio' which I understand but I mean c'mon, after what 14 years it becomes pretty boring. I've never liked it when people shorten my name because they always call me 'ant' -.-, and when people spell it, It's worse. Some people spell it as 'antonyia'. I don't even understand! My brother was an exception though, he used to spell it 'Antonya' which when he's 3 is adorable.

My last name is a massive problem though. It's Bibby and people seem to find it funny to shorten it or add it on to other things. Baby used to be a major one along with bee-biy. A common one that I've had is Bibanator. I've never understood their logic. I also hate it when people pronounce it wrong. They always say 'Bey-by' It's 'Bib-y' It's easy as.
