Forum Guidelines

This article covers the basic rules of the forums on Mibba. If you need assistance with the forums, please contact a board moderator.

General Rules

  1. All discussion must remain respectful.

Expressing and discussing opposing opinions is perfectly acceptable, but a disagreement should never turn into patronizing another user (calling someone "dear" or "sweetheart" or general mockery), insulting their intelligence or making insulting statements about their opinion. Insulting, bashing or ridiculing another user is never tolerated on Mibba, and we expect a respectful and safe environment to be maintaned in discussions.

  2. Spamming is not allowed on Mibba.

Spam includes off topic posts, advertisements, repeated images and insignificant posts to "bump" threads. Users who spam may receive a temporary ban, and repeated offenses will result in a longer ban.

  3. Duplicate threads are not allowed on the board.

Before creating a topic, please use our search feature to ensure one does not already exist. It is also important to put threads in the correct forum to maintain organization.

  4. Threads located in the General and Music forums will be locked at 200 pages.

When a thread reaches 200 pages, simply report it to a board moderator and a new thread may be created. This rule does not apply to any other section of the site.

  5. Because Mibba is a writing site, users are required to use correct grammar and spelling.

This means that "chatspeak" (eg. lyk, dis, wut, r, u) is not allowed. We understand that Mibba has many international users whose first language is not English; we don't expect perfection, just effort.

This also includes thread titles/short descriptions. Please use proper spelling, grammar, and capitalization. Decorations in titles and short descriptions are NOT allowed - for example, **~My Fan Fiction Role-Play :)~**.

  6. If you see an inappropriate post, you can report it by sending a private message to Mibba's board moderators.

Posts may be reported if they are spam, off topic, insulting, or in any way in violation of the Mibba rules. If you feel a post deserves urgent attention, feel free to PM a board moderators or administrator. Do not confront the user personally, simply report the post or thread and Mibba's staff will take appropriate action.

  7. Offensive slurs, of any kind, are not allowed here on Mibba, with the exception of discussion of the words/their use or use within the content of a story.

Role-playing Forum [1]

  1. Each role-playing group should only have one thread.

  2. Similar threads are allowed to exist; the duplicate thread rule does not apply to the Role Playing forum. This means that there can be multiple Twilight role-playing threads, for example.

  3. Character pictures cannot exceed 100x100 pixels in size if they are a part of every post the user makes. If you need help with resizing your photos, there’s a thread for that here.

  4. If you've started a thread and it doesn't work out or your role-play comes to an end, as a courtesy, please report the thread so it can be locked and then deleted.

It is recommended, but not required to include the following things in the first post of a role-playing thread

  • A clear and concise overview of what the role-play will be about.

  • A clear list of who (both the characters’ names and the members’ names) is involved in the role-play.

  • A mention of what kind of role-play it will be – whether it’s a role-play where short and small responses are acceptable or if it’s a role-play that requires paragraph-like responses.

Discussion Forums (Society and Life)

  1. You must include information when you create a thread.

When starting a new thread you have to explain your topic in the first post. You can include links, pictures, quotes - whatever you need to explain your topic so that other users understand the intention of the thread. A thread with a one sentence first post is not acceptable. Titles must also be relevant to the topic. Threads will be locked if they don't meet these requirements.

  2. Your posts must contribute to the discussion.

This means one word replies and blank quotes (quoting someone else without adding to it) are not allowed. If you’re posting that you agree with someone, you must do more than quote them and say “I agree.” You have to add something to the discussion.

  3. Understand your posts are open to criticism.

All of Mibba’s users are welcome to post their opinions and thoughts in the discussion forum, and when you do so you acknowledge the fact that users can reply to your post and disagree. Therefore, you must be willing to accept criticism to use the discussion forums. However, there is no need to make a disagreement personal.

  4. All discussions should remain respectful.

Expressing and discussing opposing opinions is perfectly acceptable, but a disagreement should never turn into patronizing another user (calling someone "dear" or "sweetheart" or general mockery), insulting their intelligence or making insulting statements about their opinion. Insulting another user is never tolerated on Mibba, and we expect a respectful and safe environment to be maintaned in discussions.

Group Stories Forum [2]

  1. In order to create a thread in this forum, you must have three authors and a created story. Any thread created without three authors will be deleted.

  2. The discussion in the threads of this forum should strictly be about the content and development of the group story.

  3. Do not create threads in this forum to search for authors to write with. To find an author, post in the Joint Stories thread.
