Poem Guidelines

  1. Correct grammar, spelling and capitalization is necessary in poems, to an extent. Any violations of grammatical rules must be for an artistic purpose, as opposed to sloppiness or use of chat-speak.
  2. Only original poems may be posted. Any user who has plagiarized another poet's poem will be banned. Posting song lyrics or famous poems is strictly forbidden.
  3. It is important that you select the correct language, type and rating when posting a poem. Information on poem types and ratings can be found here.
  4. The poetry section is, naturally, for poems. No prose (stories, scripts, articles, etc.) may be submitted as a poem. Submitting things that are not poems as poems will result in content deletion.
  5. Title rules must be properly capitalized.

Both Chicago style and AP style capitalization for stories are acceptable. This means... (1) capitalize the first and last words of a title, all nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and subordinate conjunctions, (2) articles a, an, and the should be lowercase (unless the first or last word of the title), as well as the infinitive to (again, unless the first or last word of the title), (3) prepositions smaller than four or five letters should also be lowercase. If you're unsure of your title's captialization, you can use TitleCapitalization.com.
  6. Titles cannot have text decoration.~#~#****My AwEsOmE pOeM****#~#~ is unacceptable.
  7. The author's note section is intended for authors to make relevant comments about the poem. Correct grammar and spelling is necessary as well.
  8. All poem layouts must be readable.
  9. Search tags must be relevant to the poem; irrelevant search tags will be deleted.
  10. Poems must use appropriate formatting. Depending on the type of poem, the paragraphs must be formatted accordingly.
