Rule Reminder: Profanity in Usernames

Mibba has members with ages ranging from 13 to 100, so it is important that Mibba remains a safe and comfortable place for all of those members. In that regard, Mibba's rules state that no profanity is allowed in usernames, which can be found in the General Site Guidelines section of the Knowledge Base.

Because there are young members on the site, the staff wants to protect them from seeing anything they are not comfortable with. Unlike stories, which have an option to be rated for inappropriate content like profanity, users' profiles do not have that option, so it is important that every members' profile is appropriate for users of all ages.

When creating a username, use your best judgment as to whether or not a word would be appropriate for a username. A good rule of thumb is: if you wouldn't say it to a cashier at a supermarket, it shouldn't be in your username. If you have any questions about whether or not a word is appropriate, contact any one of Mibba's Administrators.

Anyone who has a word that is deemed inappropriate will be contacted by a member of staff, who will then ask them to change their username. If they don't change their username the next time they are online, their account will be banned.

To make staff member's jobs easier, if you have an offensive word in your username now, take the initiative to change it before a member of staff contacts you!
