Mibba's Writing Challenge

It's no doubt that Mibba's Writing Contests forum is one of the most popular areas of the site. Users are constantly creating, joining, and pumping out entries for the contest, and many Mibbians have found wonderful inspiration from these threads. Every month, Mibba's Magazine hosts a contest for all members to join, but this month the staff is doing something different.

While challenges are wonderful for those with a competitive edge, some users would rather work with others on accomplishing a goal rather than competing against them. Year after year, National Novel Writing Month has proven this, but unfortunately, NaNo only comes around once a year, which gives writers only one opportunity to work towards a goal with others. This is a problem no more.

Mibba's staff is launching the first of many writing challenges. These writing challenges allow users to work with others, while working towards their goal. Because the writing challenge is simply a challenge and not a contest, there are no prizes, and anyone who completes their goal is a winner.

Another unique thing about the writing challenges is that they are accompanied with a help thread that allows users to brainstorm, encourage others, and ask for help with anything related to the challenge. The thread is a great place to work through any problems and make friends with others who are competing in the challenge.

This month, the official writing challenge will accompany the first edition of The Mibbys and the theme is movies. Users are asked to write a story that follows that prompt in any way they wish, whether it is using actors, a series, or a specific movie. This challenge is not limited to fan fiction, though, as users can write an original fiction by making their characters fictional celebrities, someone who works on movie make-up, or any other ideas they can think of!
