Back It Up

For a writer, there are things much worse than the dreaded writer's block. Losing unsaved work is one of them. From site crashes, to damages to memory sticks and cards, to hasty deactivation from the site, there's many ways your hard work may become inaccessible to you. To prevent loss and devastation, all Mibbians need to make sure their work is backed up off-site, preferably in more than one way. For those Mibbians unfamiliar with saving and storing their work, here's a few ways you can do so.

Invest in a Storage Device

USB sticks, memory cards, even the old out-dated compact disc can be used to save your work off-site. These devices can be bought online or in general and office supply stores, and can often cost less than $10.

Find Out More About Online Storage Programs

Dropbox, Just Cloud and Google Drive are just few of the free and easy programs that allow you to save your files online. With these programs, you can also have access to all of your files wherever you can access the internet. Saving your work to an online storage program is as simple as uploading individual files or entire folders with one click. For those of you with a Gmail account (free to sign-up), you can access Google Drive right through your account, no extra sign up necessary!

Utilize Those E-mail Accounts

Everyone on Mibba has an e-mail account, you wouldn't be able to sign up to the site without one. With most e-mail accounts being free to sign-up and use, and most of us being familiar with sending and receiving e-mails, this can be the best and easiest way to save your work off-site. It's pretty simple to do. If you have your work saved to your computer on files, just compose an e-mail and start sending yourself those files as attachments. If your work is only saved on Mibba, compose an e-mail, start copy and pasting your story into the e-mail content, and send it yourself. Once you have all of your stories/chapters in your inbox, you can use your e-mail's folders option to organize your saved stories and keep track of them.

However you decide to back up your work, every Mibbian (and every writer) should be sure to keep copies of their work in a safe, reliable, and secure place (and in at least two different places). We strongly suggest that all Mibbians save any important work (stories, poems, blog posts, profile/layout codes...), just in case the unthinkable happens.
