Featured: Adding Anchors to Articles

What's an anchor?

An anchor is a tag you can add to any word, phrase or symbol in a text that will allow you to link users to another spot in a text.

When should I use it?

Anchors can be useful in many different situations throughout an article, especially heavily researched articles with many citations and other places where footnotes maybe be needed.

How do I use anchors?

Thanks to Mibba's real-text editor, using anchors in articles is pretty easy.

  1. Once you've written your article and pasted it into the real-text editor, decide which pieces of text you'd like to connect.

  2. Highlight the word, phrase, or character you'd to link to, then click the flag icon.

  3. When you do, a pop-up window will appear, asking you to name your anchor. Give your anchor a name and then click OK.*

  4. Click the Source button at the top of your editor to toggle over to the HTML source code.

  5. Find the word, phrase, or character you'd to link send to your anchored phrase and wrap this code around it, adding the name of your anchor within the quotation marks:

    <a href="#anchor name">word,phrase, or character</a>

  6. Click the Source button again to toggle back to your article. There should be a hyperlink next to your first text and an anchor icon next to your final text.

  7. Once you've added all of your anchors. Save and submit your article to Mibba.

* Tip: Use one-word phrases or numbers to name your anchor. This will make it easier to keep track of your work.
