Story, Poem, and Writing Contest Ads

On a site as large as Mibba, getting readers for your poems and stories or participants for your contests can prove to be a difficult task. Many

Mibbians participate in some form of advertising - whether it be posting in the threads [1] [2] [3] or on a blog post - but this can often go unnoticed. To help with this, the Mibba Magazine has come up with another form of advertisement, one that's eye-catching and can be posted all over the internet: poster ads.

What Is a Poster Ad?

Poster ads are simply visual story, poem, or writing contest advertisements - like the image on the left. They include information about the story, poem, or contest you're advertising and are made to be a visual representation of your piece.

Posters can be posted in the Story and Poem Ads thread, the Writing Contest Ads thread, or submitted to the Mibba Magazine's tumblr account (here). They can also be posted on your customized profile, in relevant blog posts, and anywhere off-site where images can be uploaded.

What Should Be Featured on a Poster?

Posters should give readers an idea of what your story, poem or contest is about by providing basic information and an image. Each poster should be no more than 500 x 700 pixels (maximum size for posting on Mibba and the MM's Tumblr account). Below, you'll find the specific qualities of a poster, depending on what you're advertising.

Story and Poem Ads [1]

Story and poem ads should include the following information:

Story ads: title - rating - type - genre - long/short description

Poem ads: title - rating - type - a line or two from your poem/short description

Here are some examples of posted story and poem ads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Ads for Writing Contests [2]

Writing contest ads should include the following information:

title - hosts - contest description - deadlines - prizes.

Here are some examples of posted writing contest ads: 1, 2, 3.

Requesting an Ad

Though many people may like to have an ad, not everyone is able to make one on their own. If you fall into this category, you can find help in the Ad Request thread. There, all you'll need to do is leave a request and someone who loves making posters will claim your request and make you a poster.

When making an ad request, be sure to leave the important ad information in your post and a link to any images you'd like to appear in your poster.(You can find a list of things you should include in your post in the first post of the ad request thread.)

Submitting Your Ads

As stated before, once you've created your poster ads, you can submit them to several places - Story and Poem Ads thread, the Writing Contest Ads thread, and the Mibba Magazine's Tumblr. To submit to either of these places, you'll need to upload your poster to an image hosting site - like Imgur or TinyPic - and copy the direct url or bbcode/image code[+].

Submitting to Mibba Thread: When submitting to Mibba's threads, use the bbcode/image code - which should be the direct url wrapped with the image code, like this:

[img]http://i.imgur.com/nxCfl.jpg[/img]

If you want to link the picture to your story - so that readers can click the poster to get to your image - wrap the hyperlink code around the image code and direct url, like this:

[url=http://www.mibba.com/][img]http://i.imgur.com/nxCfl.jpg[/img][/url]

Submitting to Tumblr: When submitting to Tumblr, simply go to the submission page (here) and paste the direct url of your image and your story's url into the box. Then hit submit. We'll do the rest.
