Anime of the Week: Un-Go

Rated: PG
Genre: Mystery | Supernatural
Amount of Episodes: With only 11 episodes this series is a short one and aired between October 2011 and December 2011.

Summary: The story follows Shinjūrō Yūki, a detective who solves mysteries with his strange partner, Inga. It is set in a futuristic Japan that has been affected by a major war and numerous terrorist attacks.

If you like murder mystery and a good plot that's short and to the point then you'll love Un-Go. This anime is unique; it has you thinking in depth about each murder and leaves you wondering what's happened to the world around the main character and his associates. More so, right from the first episode there's something odd about his partner and as sweet as his partner is, you can't help but feel like it's something significant to do with the overall plot.

My favourite character would have to be Rie Kaishou. Rie is the daughter of a famous detective named Rinroku Kaishou, Shinjūrō's rival. Rie is stubborn and although she doesn't agree with her fathers way of covering up crimes she still loves her father dearly. In her father's place Rie attends a formal party where she meets Shinjūrō and ends up taking an interest in him, even going as far as helping him find work by sending requests his way.

This anime is by far one of the most interesting ones I've ever watched, and although it's not everyone's cup of tea, I certainly enjoyed it and recommend that you at least try it as well. It's definitely worth the shot especially because it's such a short anime.

Thanks to Airi. and house of cards. for editing!
