Introducing Mibba Staff: Sunber

Sunber has been on the site for what seems like forever. As Mibba’s Queen Story Editor, her job is to keep the story section (and her Story Editing Princesses) in check as well as keeping an eagle eye on all book submissions, approving those that fit all of the site’s rules! I had the pleasure of asking Sunny some questions to unmask the reigning Mibba monarch to you Mibbians!

1. When did you join Mibba and why?

I joined Mibba on December 22nd, 2006. Soooo, it's just past my 7th Mibba-versary, which is always exciting. I joined it because I used to be on one of Dujo's other sites (GSB) and he forbid us to write more stories and post them on there, and I needed another place, which he provided for us. I'm member number 68, yo!

2. When did you become a member of Mibba's staff/magazine?

I have absolutely no idea. I could have told you if the Welcome New Staffers thread was still up in the Staff Forum, but it appears to be missing. But it was the first round of new staff RIGHT before New Mibba came up. So, I was one of the people who got to experience New Mibba before it was surprised onto members "2 weeks" later.

3. What made you apply for the position you have?

I was always super into the story section for absolutely no reason at all besides loving reading and writing, and having this really great ability to notice punctuation errors and the occasional grammar error. And when the option came up to be part of the staff, it was the only job I really wanted to have. Probably why I became Queen Story Editor.

4. If you could have any other position of staff, what would it be and why?

I think everyone's position is a great one to have and are all very important. But I don't want another or a different position. But, if we're being serious, I think having the official status as "Queen Story Editor" would be nice...what do you say, Dujo???

5. What does Mibba mean to you?

Well, that's a tough question. I have made about three of my closest friends through Mibba and I adore them to death. (You know they're my closest friends because they're my Facebook friends, too!). For a while, during my teenage angst, it was the place I went to be alone and to spend all of my afternoons after school. I would write and write and write. And I would actually comment and I would make friends through this sort of online community. And everyone could understand me, because everyone else liked to write, too. So, Mibba is sort of a mixture of home, friends, and comfort for me.

6. What section of the site are you most active in?

I'm really active in my messages...because people message me. Does that count? If not, then, obviously in the story section. I like to sneak around and read really specific stories and not leave comments...I know, it's a bad example to portray (you really should comment on other peoples' work in order to foster more commenting going on and get comments of your own). But I like to be a silent reader in case I get you hooked on my comments and then suddenly stop when I don't have time to read your next four chapters...also, I tend to like to read completed stories. I have a reading issue.

7. If you could choose any piece of writing of yours - be it onsite or not - which are you most proud of?

Even though it has a lot of grammar mistakes right now because I wrote it like 3 years ago, I'm going to say Grey Wolf Mountain (which is on Mibba). It was my first very own Original Fiction story (I find fan fiction really easy to write, it is my go-to writing, but isn't very well thought out and is also more something to entertain myself than to get fulfillment from...). Anyway, GWM is about werewolves, which although are outdated now, was something that I found I could write about simply because I had an idea. I thought up the entire story beforehand, and it taught me that I can actually finish something if I know the ending.

8. Do you have a best friend on Mibba?

Uh oh....I have about 4 Mibba best friends. My staff best friend is Katie, my best writing buddy is Britt (whose username I can't remember because she changes it frequently and we actually talk more off Mibba than on Mibba...), my favourite fan fiction reader/writer buddy is Katie (a different one--AKA LikeSexOnToast) and Allie (hide.my.fate) who is my favourite rant buddy and original fiction reader/writer.

9. Biggest inspiration?

For what? My mom's really good at keeping me on track, I guess...she knows when I just need someone to tell me to apply for something when I just want to go home and cuddle up in bed with my fiancé and pretend that life isn't hard.

10.Favourite novel?

*cries* This is the hardest question in the world. I don't know. I actually don't know.

My favourite book/movie combo is Fight Club (I just broke the first rule) Harry Potter.

I really like John Green, and Peter Pan, and Oliver Wilde and I'm sort of obsessed with Harry Potter...

11. If you could say something to every member of the site, what would it be?

Oh, hi there... This is a lot of pressure.

Umm...I just want to say that even though some people think writing is weird and you might want to hide it (maybe because it's a weird idea, or an outdated one like werewolves, or is fan fiction--because for some reason everyone thinks fan fiction is weird), don't stop writing. Writing is a fantastic way to express yourself and it should never be something you let someone convince you out of just because they think it's weird. Writing is amazing. And even if you get a lot of comments saying you need to work on your grammar or plot line, you'll get there. You're going to get better and better and I just can't express how extremely important writing is. So, don't stop.

12. And finally, Mibba's Story Editors have a mini-monarchy that you are the Queen of. Who do you think would be most likely to stage a revolt and try and overthrow you and why?

If I'm being honest...I'll say you (Jess. AKA Victoria, AKA house of cards.). Not because you don't completely and totally love every part of me being Queen, but because you completely and totally love every part of there being a Queen. But I also think you never would. No one would ACTUALLY overthrow me. Unless it's me, turning us back into a democracy, but who wants that?

Special thanks to castiel’s vessel and safe bet. for editing!
