Mibba's Thoughts: Inspiration

Everyone has those stupid things they say to themselves to help them get through the day, whether it involves dreaming of the lottery or an inspirational quote.

In this week's edition of Mibba's Thoughts, Mibbians discuss the stupid things they tell themselves.

This mainly happens on days when I don't have to work, I don't have plans with my friends or boyfriend, and my mom is away all day at work and staying with my grandma (i.e. I have no social contact whatsoever), but I occasionally talk to the TV, especially with talk show hosts and stuff like Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil.

Every morning, I try to start the day off with a positive affirmation and a list of ten things I'm grateful for.

There's also this line from Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick, "I am practicing being kind instead of right," that I tell myself whenever I'm about to go off on someone over some stupid sh*t.

I have to tell myself that an odd noise or sensed presence isn't an evil supernatural entity waiting for me to acknowledge or provoke them. Oh, paranoia.

When I think bad thoughts about someone, I feel instantly guilty and paranoid that they can hear me, and I have to convince myself that they CAN'T read my mind...

When I've just woken up from a nightmare I tell myself it's not real and I often see things in the dark and I say the same thing to myself.
