Mibba's Thoughts: Settings

The setting is an important part of a story. In this week's edition of Mibba's Thoughts, Mibbians discuss settings they want to use.

I've written a decent amount of oneshots set there, but I want to write something chaptered that's set in Charleston, South Carolina.

I also want to write a story that takes place in the area where I'm from (upstate South Carolina) because I'm actually really proud of where I come from and I rarely ever see well-written and realistic Southern characters. That's probably where I'll set my
Moonshiners fanfic because a good deal of the cast are from this region.

I'd love to write another story that takes place in New York City, but I'd like to actually go there first to get a better idea of what the city is like.

I feel like I default to Florida too often as a setting, especially North Florida, but I was raised here and it's what I know. I want to write a story set in California or anywhere on the west coast, maybe even in the midwest. I'd also want to write a story maybe set in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, since that place is such a cornerstone of my childhood and it's the place my family most often goes to for vacation.

I really want to do a story set in Flanders eventually. It'll give me a chance to write in Dutch. I also want to do one set in Marseille. I toyed with the idea a long time ago and didn't go through with it, but I'd like to revisit it in the future.

- bona drag.
