Introducing Mibba Staff: charity_hope

Reviewers have the task of choosing their favourite stories or poems that they've read each month and writing a review that boosts that piece of work into the spotlight. Lina is a fairly new reviewer who decided to join the ranks in order to promote the work of Mibbians that she enjoys the most. For this article, I managed to ask her a few questions in order to get to know her better!

1. When did you become a member of Mibba's magazine?

I applied on April 2014 and was added into the rank somewhere in May.

2. What made you apply for the position you have?

I always thought that being a staff member was cool. And I wanted to do something for other users. I remember how excited I was when one of my stories was reviewed and featured in the Magazine (although it wasn't in the MM Review section). So I wanted to give other members the same feeling. I wanted other Mibbians to feel appreciated for their hard work. That's why I applied to be a Reviewer. Besides, I love reading and recommending stories so it's all good.

3. If you could have any other position of staff, what would it be and why?

I think I would love to be either a Blog Moderator or a Story Editor. Blog Moderator, because I always spent my time lurking around in the Blogs section and Story Editor is because as I'd mentioned earlier, I love reading and helping other users. So why not?

4. When did you join Mibba and why?

I'd known about Mibba since 2007 (yeah... that's a long time ago). But I officially made an account around November 2012, if I'm not mistaken. I wanted to share my writing with other people who don't know me in real life. I'd always been insecure about my own writing and I don't want feedback from people that know me personally because there were only two kinds of feedback I would get. (1) Sugarcoated truth which won't help me as a writer at all; (2) Painful critics that don't really help me to improve. So I came here, wanting to share my stories and gaining feedback as well as making new friends.

5. What's your favourite thing about the magazine?

It's probably all the articles. There are several article writers that write their articles in this witty, funny way and I love that. And I also love that there are a lot of things you can find in the magazine. I have yet to try one of the recipes posted here.

6. What does Mibba mean to you?

Mibba is a place where I can freely be myself without being afraid of rejection. Maybe it's because of the safety of staying behind the computer screen. But I'd never been afraid of people pushing me away here. I can always bounce back whenever I received a critic or when someone said something hurtful. Mibba somehow gave me strength to believe in myself.

7. What section of the site are you most active in?

I lurk around the Blogs section a lot. And also in the Forums. I don't post much on Forums but I do stalk a lot of members as well (shh... it's supposed to be a secret). And I always go to Stories section to find stories that I can write a review on.

8. If you could choose any piece of writing of yours - be it onsite or not - which are you most proud of?

It's my Zayn one-shot with the title Perfectly Dysfunctional. It's not that long, but somehow I love how I wrote the story and brought out the characters. I think that's my best piece yet.

9. Favourite novel?

My favorite novel is not an English novel. It's a Malay novel written by a local Malaysian author called Zuriat which means child or offspring. It's based on a true story about a family where all their children were diagnosed with a genetic disease, MLD. It was a heartbreaking story about the family's struggle. I cried a lot each time I read it.

10. If you could say something to every member of the site, what would it be?

Stay happy, stay creative, you are the only you in the world and no two people are the same. So embrace yourself and your talents.

11. Last question - if you had world domination, what would you do with your power?

This is not an easy question to answer. There's no right and wrong. And there's no black and white answer to this one. I'm not sure if I even want world domination. I don't like dominating others. I prefer if we all could come together as one. But maybe if I have control over what's happening around the world right now, I'd like to stop all the wars and as cliché as it may sound, I want world peace.

Special thanks to nearly witches and elixir for editing.
