I never thought of adding in paint! I used to use red food colouring all the time as a child because of my skin, so I used to just use this recipe and then scrub the crap out of my hands / face the next day. lmfao I have heard that applying Vaseline or another petroleum jelly underneath the mix will stop it from staining but I've never tried it.

For my costume, I actually went digging around for fake blood recipes because I'm going to be dipping my arms in it and the last thing I want is something that's going to stain my skin/clothes so I ended up finding out that you can replace the red food coloring with red poster/powder paint and use coffee granulates or cocoa powder to tone it down to a more gorey blood color, and it doesn't stain. I know there's also a recipe running around that uses dish soap in it to prevent staining too. tehe There are ways to get around the staining but I haven't tested any of them yet and none of it is going to taste good, that's for sure, so I wouldn't recommend having it anywhere near the mouth. lmfao
