DIY: Lavender Bath Salts

Baths are extremely relaxing and adding salts to them can completely upgrade your experience. This is a great recipe if you'd like to make different types of bath salts without spending too much money, or creating a thoughtful gift for a friend. Whatever the motive, rest assured that this is something inexpensive, easy to make, and even better to enjoy!

Ingredients

  • Epsom salts (available at drug stores)
  • Food colouring (red and blue)
  • Sea salt
  • Essential oils

Materials

  • Measuring cups
  • Bowls
  • Spoon
  • Mason jar

Instructions

  1. Mix two cups of Epsom salts and sea salt. Alternatively, you can mix equal measures of both salts if you intend on making a larger quantity of bath salts.
  2. Mix the red and blue food colouring so purple can be formed. Add one drop at a time (two should suffice for if you add too much, it will stain your bathtub). Stir well after each drop to see if the salts are lilac coloured.
  3. Pour in your essential oils. Keep in mind that the more you add, the stronger the fragrance will be. Stir it well until the consistency becomes that of damp sand.
  4. Place the mixture into the mason jar and enjoy your bath salts!
